|
Hello, fellow RPGers. I have a proposal for an RPG, however, I would like to check the forum for interest before I actually create it. Too many times have I put in much effort for an RPG to have no one join it. So, to prevent that, this time, I'm making this discussion topic.
The general premise of the RPG would deal with a small group of Starfleet officers who had been captured by the Dominion PRIOR to the Dominion War, while on mission in the Gamma Quadrant. Most of the crew onboard their ship had been killed, however, several survived and were taken in by the Dominion, to one of their Internment Camps. These officers remained on the penal colony until the end of the Dominion War in which the Treaty of Bajor, which forced the Dominion to release all Federation prisoners, the officers were returned to the Federation. However, this Federation was not the same Federation that each of them had known before the Dominion War.
This RPG would deal with the aftermath of the Dominion War and I know what most of you are thinking. Where is the action? Of course there would be an overlying plot. It had been the plot of a fan fic that I had failed to write in. However, I've decided to turn it into an RPG and expand the idea to accomodate other players.
So, the question now is...Is there any interest for such an RPG? Yes, I know its different than your standard Trek RPG. Much different. There is no ship, no station, etc. The main players would drift to wherever the story took them. There is no main enemy. There is no clear enemy at all (don't worry, there will be one...55-24).
I've tried an RPG with a unique premise such as this before. It burned...horribly. I forgot to check for interest in that one. I'm doing so now.
So...

When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
But you still have

That's interesting, what would the overall plot be? That's also going to help draw in members But it looks interesting so far.

Well...This may turn off a few members, because, I'm sure that it's been done before.
The overall plot of the beginning of the RPG would deal with the officers coping with their new lives, the new Federation, etc. However, the overlying plot would be Section 31's plans to...do stuff. I don't want to get to in depth, though. But, yeah...It has to do with S31 for the beginning. However, I want the focus to be on the characters, not the story arc.

Well...Uhhh...I know that I only just posted up this idea but...I've found that I'm a bad GM, so...I won't be making this. Sorry if any of you were interested. Heh.

You're not bad! Look at Downfall, that was really excellent! The only problem is that not many showed interest for it..
Don't give up to quickly, i haven't done that before either and i already have made a lot of RPG's who failed or some other reasons. Still i am making plans for a new RPG.
You maked me very interested in this RPG and i would love to see the result

I agree, to me there is no such thing as a bad GM look at me...I once GM'ed a great RPG and ended it after a few years I believe and am struggling with newer ones (I created in the past several months), but I am still going and trying to make the plan for that one perfect RPG.
I too was made interested by this idea and would love to see an outcome, best wishes.

Wow, I can't believe I missed this topic. I'm sorry LF. This idea sounds good and it isn't everyday that someone wants to create an RPG over drama, rather then just mind numbing action. Very clever and thought out.

Thanks. Maybe I will make this, one day down the line. I had forgotten about it, myself. Though, already being involved in 3 RPGs is a tricky task, not to mention adding and leading a fourth.
Though, I'll definitely keep it mind. I liked it, though, it does sound more fan-ficitiony. However, as I am lazy, I never seem to follow through with my fan fics. Which is why I posted the idea up here.

Oh. Please excuse my rudeness. I'm very sorry. I forgot to respond to your PM.
Recently, I decided that the idea would work better as a fan fiction thing. I should have posted that I was turning it into a fan fic. That means that I'm not going through with the RPG. I'm sorry, again.
I can tell you really want to RP, eh? RP activity has been slow, as of late, but, I'm hoping it picks up, again, soon. A lot of the big RPers are having technical/personal problems of some sort.
