This thread is sort of like the "Favorite Episode(s)" thread in the ENT forum. Put down your favorite Star Trek: The Next Generation episodes here. Try to give a reason for your choices, too.

My favorite Star Trek: TNG ep(s). (actually, my favorite Star Trek episode period), would be The Best of Both Worlds (Pt. I & II)

The TRUE introduction of the Borg...seeing Picard as Locutus...awesome. Plus, throw in the Battle of Wolf 359, the most devastating battle of the 24th Century (aside from the Dominion War)...awesome.

The TRUE intro of the Borg was actually "Q Who?"

I know that...what I mean by the TRUE introduction of the Borg is that in the Best of Both Worlds, you really can see what the Borg can do...and by that, I mean annihilate a Federation fleet, destoying 39 ships. Also, in TBoBW, I loved the relationship between Shelby and Riker...a funny rivalry, indeed...Shelby annoyed me, though...

By the way...I'll tally up your favorites in a week or so.

I liked a lot of episodes but because I haven't seen the whole complete series in order for a while, I can't remember the actual episode names besides, "Q, Who," "I, Borg," and "The Best of Both Worlds" parts 1 & 2. But there were a lot, I just can't remember off the top of my head. I liked a lot of episodes that had to do with Picard, Data, Worf, and Riker. There was an episode where Wesley came back as a Starfleet ensign that Ashley Judge actually guest starred on where the ship had gotten this new game that they could wear like a head set on their heads that was an actual boobie trap type thing to I think take over the ship, but I can't remember.

I also liked another episode where Data was having dreams for the first time and they were all weird and had to do with these weird lifeforms that would show up on the crew's bodies and he actually stabbed Troi in the shoulder or something. And in his dream, they had her body and uniform as a cake while her head was just there. Earliar in the same episode, he had also been talking to a holographic Sigmund Freud about his dreams. That part was funny! And of course, the Robin Hood episode where they all ran around in tights was good! That was just too amusing.

"Night Terrors"

&

"QPid"

Those are the names of the episodes you listed. I like QPid, too.

Genesis is my dad's favorite episode of TNG!!!

Did you notice a...similar vibe from "Genesis" of TNG and "Macrocosm" of VOY? Too similar for my tastes...

Nice thing about Q, he could act as a voice for viewers who occasionally got frustrated with Next Gen and Picard's detached, untra-proper attitude.

Q WHO (love the fatalistic tone, Picard forced into humility, Borg more interested imn consuming technology than assimilating, sense of dread)

Y'S ENTERPRISE (written by committee, yet works anyway)

BEST OF BOTH WORLDS part one

ELEMENTARY DEAR DATA (would have been better with original ending where they lie to Moriarty)

My prime period is the end of season one through the first few of season four.

PostWed Nov 22, 2006 1:26 pm    Favorite Episode

I've done a good number of internet searches on this "Favorite Espisode" or "Best Episode" question and in the lists I foind, some episodes come up over and over again, but no one ever, anywhere seems to mention my favorite: "Firstborn." I guess I'm a sucker -- I liked the crazy idea behind Alexander travelling back in time, meeting himself as a child and, taking the moment while tucking him into bed, tries to get him interested in visiting his home world, suggesting that there is a future there, beyond alienation and fear. And I guess as one of the last episodes in the series, it was nice to hear Worf say that there is value in his son's efforts toward diplomatic solutions in Klingon politics.

Another I dug that I don't see mentioned often:
"Identity Crisis": I found it truly spooky, this idea that this species' reproductive process not only transforms a person's DNA, but also effectively wipes away memory, understanding, and the very context of who one was -- especially after Geordi's extensive investigation into the away team's disappearance -- crazy that even those analytical guideposts could so quickly evaporate.

I like "Clues" because 1) it's Dr. Crusher's insistence (based on her scientific certainty) that prompts Picard to really wake up; and 2) that Picard seems to know instinctually that Data is acting to protect the Enterprise (says something very deep about his trust in Data).

"Time's Arrow" was very cool, esp. with Twain as a meddler and snoop.

"Q Who" woke up my senses; and I also like "Face of the Enemy;" "The Measure of a Man;" "Darmok;" "The Game;" "Thine Own Self;" and "Peak Performance."

Of all the great episodes, few stand out. My all time favorite ever is "The Defector". It is in a class of its own. Other good ones are "Redemption", "Lower Decks", "Time Squared", and "All Good Things". There are others, but I cannot recall at this time, as it is quite late.

Can we get an easy question to answer anywhere in the near future

My all time favourite TNG episode is the Klingon 2 parter Redemption where we finally see Commander Sela, and Lursa and Betor oh those lovely females, not.

I would also like to give an honourable mention to The Chase, Lessons (has an australian in), The Game (I still can not get Robyn Lefler out of my mind, that actress went on to do something else didn't she, oh that's right it was Ashley Judd), Tapestry ( great story and I thought it was well performed), Unification 1 and 2 (obvious reasons), The Next Phase (interesting concept a phased cloaking device), Timescape was a good story, Gambit part 1 and 2, Peak Performance (those pesky Ferengi), The Perfect Mate (Femke Janssen was absolutely electric as the title character), and I thought Force Of Nature was a good, relevant and well thought out piece.
