Thank you.

I like this system, just as ILoveHarry says:

Ok then. (Yeah, I know, "OMG!! It's tomparis!! I haven't seen him for ages!!" ) I do apologize for my complete lack of activity over the past few.... months. Two-fold reason for that. First, my RPG (aka: USS Galaxia) never really got off the ground. Secondly, full class load, senior year. Yeah.

Now then, on to my question. I noticed that in the first post (I can't remember exactly where), it said that the point system would encourage RPer's to help out struggling RPG's (Hmmm, I wonder why I ask? ). My question is, how exactly will that work?

I'd like to give you an answer to that, and the mods can give you something further after me.

The point system encourages members to help struggling RPGs in the sense that you are only permitted one free RPG. Once you've folded in that RPG you have to earn your way up to another RPG, gaining X amount of points (I forget how many) in order to start a new RPG. Therefore, if you want to get points, you have to post in other RPGs, otherwise you can't start up a new RPG yourself.

It encourages individuals to help out other RPGs while benefitting themselves at the same time.

Well, how it works, is that you get ONE free RPG, after that you must pay, to pay you have to earn points, to earn points, you've gotta join and post in other rpg's, good posts I might add. This is one way to encurage activity in the rpg's, as you get a lot of "We've gotta do something about the RPG area! lets fix it! I've made an RPG join people!" and no one joins, because people want to run the rpg that 'saves' the rpg area.

Does this help?

La Forge has made one (And used his free RPG), called "Downfall" very interesting.

It encourages others to help out struggling RPGs because most people will want to gain points. The more RPGs one is in, the more oppurtunities the person will have to gain points.

Would you like to be added to the list then?

I'm thinking maybe I should get rid of forcing people to "buy" the right to make a new RPG. I made it with the intention that it would force people to becareful with creating RPGs, rather then continue to just make random ones and let them die, but I think it had an adverse affect and it makes people more wary of making RPGs and simply don't want to do it.

What does everyone else think? Should this system revert to just being more for a post thing solely? For their contributions to RPing and making a wonderful story? Not as a monetary thing?

I think it would be worth a try. If it doesn't work out you could always change it back.

Yeah, I agree SM. I'll keep the information handy in case I need to reinstitute it. However, I just want to see if anyone feels this is bad.

I don't agree. If we turn it back to normal, we would be right back from where we started. More RPG's will rise, less players join other RPG's.
No.. i think this works best.

Interesting viewpoint. Thank you for responding. Well, my intetion was never to discourage people from creating new RPGs. More RPGs coming back to STV doesn't like a bad thing to me. As for less people joining others, there is a serious lack of RPers on STV and I hate to think the lack of options in RPing is what is pushing people away from the RPGs.

I think that points shouldn't be needed to make a new RPG. See, I will probably never make anymore RPGs after the one I have, 'cause, I don't wanna lose any points, y'know? But, yeah, Tuvok does have a point. Up to you, really.

Yeah, I've spoken to people and they seem hesitant to make RPGs. I kind of don't like that. I didn't like a myriad of random RPGs that GMs don't care, but still, no RPGs have popped up.

I don't put it as I'm afraid to make RPGs. I just don't want to make one until I have it 100% planned out. For me, it isn't that I don't want to make them, It's that I want to make them well

It's the same with me, part of it is the set back, but I dont want to spend 5 points on an RPG, and then NO one joines, that just sucks. Like Zi said, I like to have it planned out.

Yeah exactly. Making an RPG on STV currently is a risk on it's own. That's why maybe adding onto it by forcing "payment" wasn't the best idea I've had. For now, I'm gonna get rid of it. I'll save the information in a PM to myself, in case we feel it should come back. I don't think it will hurt anything to stop it.

So, as of now, creating RPGs does not cost a thing.

I'm sorry to hear that my friend...

The RPG area around here hasn't been as active as it was in the past unfortunately.

I said it deserved a chance and it's had one. It's been months and I still don't like this system. I know one persons voice won't change jack, not on this site unless you're a Mod or Admin.

My original opinion returns.

But Spellbinder, consider what Founder said:

Quote:

It's done nothing as far as creating RPGs and stuff is concerned. I think the system has, despite that fact, worked quite well. It's made me work harder to make good posts, and I've seen lots of effort in other RP'ers too. I think it's worked well and is a good system, and that if you don't like it, be happy that it doesn't cost you to make new RPGs anymore. The only difference is that there is incentive to make better posts if you want to increase your points and so forth.

I think it's worked perfectly.

According to SM, he believes that I'm cheating and stacking the points with others. Anyone else agree?
