Tue Oct 03, 2006 2:41 am Best Doctor in all of Star Trek |
|
So I don't know if this topic has been done before, so I'm sorry if it has, but I've seen so many people go over who was the best captain in Star Trek, but who do you guys think was the best doctor? I'm torn between Dr. Crusher and the Doctor from Voyager even if he was the EMH. I thought Dr. Bashir was good too.

Dr. Bashir. He was really the only Doctor who you saw as more than a doctor, especially during the Dominion War when we even see him kill people. Not that I like to see him kill people, but it's nice to see him as a real person.

Dr. Bashir tied with the EMH. It's hard to choose between them.

Hmmmn.... It depends on what you are looking for. Skill wise? Perhaps the EMH.
In terms of being funny? Phlox/EMH (Although EMH had a terrible bedside manner)

Any particular reason?
I liked him the best too. There was something about the fact that he had all of this knowledge and skill and was technically near perfect. But somehow he still was flawed, and he knew it, and he worked really hard to become a member of the crew. That appealed to me immensely.

Yeah I think I pretty much liked the EMH best too. I think it was because Robert Picardo did such a good job with the character. He was just funny and quirky at times but also had a lot more interesting story lines about his character than some of the other doctors did...besides Bashir that is. No one can bear Bashir with Section 31.

I like the EMH best but Dr. Crusher is a close second. I liked the EMH b/c he tried so hard to fit in with the rest of the crew and be "human". Bob gave him such a funny quirkiness.

I agree, The Doctor is the best doctor simply because he had the knowledge of all doctors that came before him, plus he can always be upgraded with any new knowledge.

How this is anyone but Leonard "Bones" McCoy is ridiculous.
McCoy was a 20th century human being stuck in space with all of his little fears about transporting and questioning every irrational decision that Spock or Kirk made.
Plus, his relationship with Spock? Come on...that is pure gold. I could watch that all day. The fact that I am the first to mention McCoy to vote for him in this thread is a joke.
I AM FURIOUS! Just Kidding. Seriously, in terms of the best role and most beloved doctor ever to grace us in the Star Trek Universe, it is hands down Deforest Kelley and his role as Dr. McCoy.
After that?
Robert Picardo without a doubt.
Gates McFadden never had the range that Picardo did between selling her skills as a Doctor or the successful balancing act from Drama to Comedy as easily as Pircardo did it. He made that role what it was even as brilliantly written as it was, but because it was written so well that is why he loses to McCoy in my mind. Kelley's narcisism made him and Star Trek one of the most beloved and successful series in the history of Sci-Fi.
All the others were average actors in averagely written roles.

I dont know if i could choose a best doctor, by the fact that Pulasky, The Doc, McCoy, Bashir, and Crusher have all preformed miracles. However, my favorite is definately The Doc from Voyager. He has overcome lots more than the other doctors in startrek, and has more problems since he is a hologram. Besides all that he is able to be in command of the ship, and look what he did for Admiral Janeway in Endgame

2. Crusher
3. Phlox
4. Pulaski
Have never seen TOS so can't comment on Bones or whoever it is and I really didn't like what bit of DS9 I've seen so I can't really comment on Bashir either.

Oy, that's really a hard choice. Hmmm.. well, i growed up with "Joe", but i found Phlox much more funnier. BUT, since i must choose the best doctor, i have to say Bashir.
Bashir doesn't have as much knowledge then "Joe", but he has so more experience then "Joe". Bashir has experienced many life or death situations and most of the time he rescued the people in those situations.
That's why i say Bashir is the best Doctor.
