Hey, What if Starfleet Engineers combine Borg Transwarp and Quantum Slipstream Technologies?

That's a matter of opinion. It depends on how it was done. It could always be successful. I don't think it would explode or blow up at all. There would be regeneration systems to prevent destablization.

The two technologies would almost definitely be incompatible, since they are essentially the same. The only major difference being that the QS allows for any start and stop point, and the TW is set start and stop points.

They work on differnt speeds to.

(Roughly 3 LY a min)

http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Transwarp

(Unknown, though certain distances seemed instant)

People that will go to lengths like this to prove a point have to much time on their hands. No offense LB. It's a good find.

Presumably Transwarp can go Warp 39(i don't know in what scale that is, but its a scale that skips the warp 10, 20, 30 and 40 as at that point the power usage will be infinite.)

and warp 39 means going 2000 lightyears in 6 seconds

anyway, Transwarp and Slipstream are alien technologies, Starfleet would not use that because of the Prime Directive.

I disagree. They may have originally been Alien Technologies but Starfleet has gained enough knowledge from various different sources that using that knowledge as a template they could contruct a Transwarp Drive or a Slipstream core of their own. If they went that rout it wouldn't violate the Prime Directive.

Umm...The Prime Directive would only apply if they happened to get that technology, then gave it to another alien species that didn't previously have the technology, since it only applies to interferance of lesser developed alien cultures.

As for whether or not they would use it if given to them, you'd better believe they would. They certainly take advantage of whatever else they can get ahold of, especially considering the status of the Federation at the time (just got attacked by the Borg then the Dominion and completely ravaged by wars).

If that were the case then Voyager would have travelled 1,200,000 Lightyears when they maintained the Transwarp for 1 hour after acquiring the coil from the Borg...

No, since the coil they found didn't have that capacity. Next to that even though arp 39 isn't infinte power, it still needs a lot, a lot more then voyager has.

Really though, i have seen the scale.

Uh, I was just playing off of your comment...and going through a CONDUIT doesn't really require power, per say, as if they were going through straight warp. They're in a conduit, not in open space...so it's conceivable that if the BORG Transwarp drive were as fast as mentioned above, then Voyager COULD have traveled that far...

Well, they hurried it up a lot. But i don't think the coils are like a kick start for conduits, i think they drain power while in the conduit.

here: http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Transwarp_coil

i think the scale i mentioned is faulty though, as there is no proof of Transwarp speeds being regulated by anything, its just seems like 1 speed.
