I don't know how much it will change things. From the way it sounds, hasn't his brother already been slowly taking over for him? I don't know enough about the situation to make an educated guess though.

Do you rejoice at every cancer diagnosis, or only those afflicting people whose politics you despise?

Politics I despise? I despise my Great Aunt Nancy's politics. She's a raging liberal and Bush-hater. And yet she has terminal cancer. Do I want her to die? No, and not just because she's family. I don't wish such illnesses upon anyone with whom I merely disagree, or the politics of whom I detest. For you to even insinuate that is insulting.
I don't simply despise Castro's politcs--I despise the man. He is an evil dictator without whom the world would be better off. Do a little research on Castro and Cuba and you'll know what I mean. Or ask Founder as well.
It's not that I'm glad at hearing this news over a man so much as I'm glad that the world will be rid of a ruthless tyrant, that the Cuban people will have some semblance of justice. And there is nothing wrong with that.

Do you even know what you're talking about? Castro is a mass murderer, dictator, and torturer. This is Karma.
Do you weep for all the Cubans that have died, or only those whose politics agree with yours?
It's abysmal that you're actually trying to argue the right of life to a man who denied it to so many others. A bit hypocritical IMO.
As for this topic, it was only a matter of time that he died. As for what this means for the Cuban people...nothing. His brother will take over and the terrible political structure of Communism will continue to destroy my country.

yeah, I'm with RM and Founder on this one. This is definately Karma, you cannot put the kind of stuff out there that Fidel did and NOT have some nasty crap come back at you. Its kind of like spitting INTO the wind, there's no way its not going to come back and hit you in the face. Eh Cancer did what Kenedy couldn't.

I'm still not gonna call it "good news" that the man will suffer a lingering, painful death, and I still think it disgusting that people who are always claiming the moral high ground here are doing so.

Exactly. I'm cheering the fact that the world will be rid of a horrible, ruthless, evil, inhuman dictator, not that a man is going to suffer a painful death.

Please point out where I said I have the "moral high ground". 
As RM said, he's happy that Cubans are getting justice. Not that Castro is gonna die a painful death. The justice happens to be Castro leaving. Would it be preferable for Castro to live and step down or be exiled? Yes, but thats not the way life works.
