Eek. Apparently the Allen campaign, which has been watching this incredibly closely, has just contacted Fox News and said that he is ahead, not Webb. Either way, this race is too close to call. Anyone who wants to call this is just silly, for there is no real way to do so yet. We will all have to wait with bated breath for the results.

Look's like Allen's gonna work for a recount, which is entirely logical and rational.

The Minnesota's governor race is turning really interesting, with a 6000 vote lead, and most of the metro area reporting, Tim Pawlenty might make the comeback and win tonight.

He's shown a lead in most of rural MN, and if the votes go the same way polls have, he should only extend his lead through the night.

I was REALLY worried about this one, but it looks like MN is hanging onto some hope. Pawlenty is, not only a rising star in the GOP, but a great governor.

Funny, his approval rating remains in the 60s, but his election numbers were too close to call.

Lucky you, LightningBoy, having the chance for the Republican to pull ahead. No way Beauprez's gonna do that. Then again, it looks like MN's lost.

WeAz, were you talking about Colorado Amendment 43 or an Amendment 43 in California? If it's Colorado's, that's basically been approved. Yet another win for the traditionalists. Oh, and Referendum I's lost, another win for marriage.

Republican Jim Talent of Missouri is now conceding the election. Missouri has now fallen to the Democrats.

This means Montana, which is doomed to the Dems, and Virginia, which is probably to face the same fate, are the last two Republican territories at state.

One can only hope that either state maintains its Republican status. Otherwise, the worst two years of the Bush administration are about to begin - and, mind you, I don't believe any Bush year has been bad.

Yes. Prop 85 failed in California. I was worried about it being a closer race, but it was not. Prop 85 would've forced young girls to get parental consent for an abortion... heh, who knows, next they could say the same for birth control. O'Reilly will be very unhappy. Arnold held the governorship too, for which I wasn't surprised. Even some of the most liberal people I know aren't bothered by him, and I can't say he's bad.

Both Montana and Virginia are still *really close*.

But, Webb is now ahead by 8,000 votes. The remaining precints are mostly Democratic, I am not reasonably confident that he is going to win. That means that if the Dems can take Montana (in which they are ahead 1,000 votes) they can take the Senate.

Amusing. On Fox one of the Republicans was saying that this was a loss for the republicans, not a win for the democrats, and they need to go more hard-line on traditional reform.

The rule is that incumbent governments lose elections, oppositions rarely win them.

I predict Webb and Tester win the 2 senate seats left, thus the Senate control to the Democrats.

Making that a clean sweep for the Dems.

MONTANA RESULTS!

AP, CBS, CNN and MSNBC declares Jon Tester (D) the winner!

The Associated Press declared Democratic challenger Jon Tester the winner in the U.S. Senate race over Republican incumbent Conrad Burns shortly after 10:30 Wednesday morning.

That leaves 50 - 49 with Virginia left undecided.

I'm feeling very good about Virginia right now.

Yes! And I just read (off the Virginia state site), that a recount will only happen if the looser (Allen) requests one and if there's a less than 1% difference between the candidates.

I'm positve Webb will take it

Yeah, I don't think 8,000 votes are going to turn up. It's just a matter of time before there's a recount and it confirm, or Allen bows out gracefully now.

Jim Webb's squeaker win over incumbent Sen. George Allen gave Democrats their 51st seat in the Senate, an astonishing turnabout at the hands of voters unhappy with Republican scandal and unabated violence in Iraq. Allen was the sixth Republican incumbent senator defeated in Tuesday's elections.

Wow. RM you make it sound like the end of the world. I mean, it would have sucked if the Reps. took it, but, I would just live with it. I mean, they've had the House for 12 years. Time for a change. I'm super glad that the Dems. are and apparently, so are most of Americans, seeing as they would have to be if the Dems won...So...Yeah.

And, this is good news. We need someone to stand up against Bush's stupidity. Now we have the House and the Senate to do so.

Actually, it sucks to be a Republican. It's a great day to be a Democrat!

America is at extreme risk now that the Dems are in control. It has little to do with the fact that the party itself is in control so much as what will now be done, or, rather, not be done, that is the problem. I am sincerely worried about the safety and security of this country now. I really am. Partisan politics has nothing to do with that.

Plus a billion bad things happened in this state that are going to cause us big troubles.
