I expect the U.N. will condemn this if we are lucky and then they will go back to talking.

Indeed. The US Geological Survey, however, it has just been reported, has not, it says, detected any seismic activity in the region, showing that the situation is very fluid.

This Just In: Contrary to what I just posted, the US Geological Survey Society has now said that it has detected some level of activity in North Korea.

According to South Korean assessments, there was an incident, but it was lower than North Korean hopes.

They're not sure, but less than expectations.
The US has confirmed this test, however.

My apologies. It's not the US government but one senior Bush Administration official who has confirmed this event.
EDIT: The US Geological Survey has stated that a 4.2 magnitude tremor was detected, making it a larger quake than had been originally expected.

So far, the yield has been approximated at 550 tons of TNT. With that, plus the North Korean claim that there was "no radiation" released, my guess is that they detonated a large collection of non-nuclear explosives. The U.S. has detected underground nuke tests in the past.

I can share that, We are all glad your adopted in the US
However, I do hope that this does not derteriate into something nasty, frankly, we've got enough troubles in this world with out people testing nukes, and the rest of the world getting on their cash. *Sighs* Politics....

Actually, it sounds like a pretty smart thing to do.
No, really. Suppose for a moment that if North Korea steps up its nuclear arms program, the entire world will actually do something about it, and the UN will actually do something (shock, gasp!). Would you, as crazy crackpot dictator of North Korea, rather incur the world's wrath while the U.S. forces are milling around at home with nobody to shoot? Or would you rather do it while the superpower's forces are stretched across the Middle East for three years?
Now, this may not turn out to be a huge difference in the end. But it certainly complicates things should it come to military conflict.

Something is sure to actually happen with North Korea in the Un at this point because Kofi Annan is likely to be replaced by South Korea's Foreign Minister.

Don't be too sure about that. The new guy has been criticised in the past for being too soft on North Korea.

And Clinton gave him the materials to let them do this and things to go this far.

True. Clinton did start them. But Bush had plenty of oppurtunities to stop it.

According to Fox News, the North Korea test is, according to a number of intelligence groups, looking more like "bluster than blast."
