Well I don't see how someone can not understand something as simple as people liking a tv series. I just don't see the complication...

I can understand fear of being made fun of, but not the understanding part.

No, I'm not in the closet, but I don't advertise it. I don't advertise anything I like minus the Matrix.

PFFFT, Come on, Andy. Many of us know what you like, aside from the Matrix, and we didn't poke for that info either

Many people know I am a trekkie

And Andy? I rerally don't know, teasing happens all the time due to liking star trek. Then the teasers go home and watch Star wars and BSG. /rolls eyes.

Well, I don't scream I'm a trekkie to every person I pass, but people who know me certaintly know. If you have a problem with it, that's your problem not mine. When I write 'about me' sections or 'interests' sections that fact is just about always included. People are usually quite suprised to find out that I am though. I never found that I really ever get negative reactions about the fact...actually almost the opposite.

I'm not in the closet but I'm not screaming to everyone I am a Trekkie. If they ask I tell em the truth, I'm not gonna lie, cause sooner or later, they will find out eventually. And why would I hide it, star trek is one of the better shows on tv.

I'm sooo not in the closet...I bring up my trekkerness into at least one or two conversations with my 'real' friends everyday.

I guess I'm like most of you. I don't advertise it... Then again I don't know if I'm even a full fledge Trekie. I only know Voyager really... I watched TOS when I was very young... I started watching Voy. in syndication. Although now I own some of the DVD sets... and a lot of the books... and I'm addicted to this site... so perhaps I am. I am in the closet about RPing though.

We actually discussed Star Trek at work today. Most of us had watched it, and all of us had enjoyed one incarnation or another. Kind of surprising. There was no negativity, though.

Exactly. I won't say it when I first meet someone ("Hi, I'm Merel and I'm a trekkie! )
But if it comes up in a conversation or something, I won't hide it.
