Doctor's Quarters

After finally settling in, Dr. Xavier decided the time was right to notify the Captain he was onboard. Inquiring the computer as to the captain's wherabouts, Tobias discovered she was in a meeting, and thought it best not to disturb. He instructed the computer to notify her of his presence when the meeting was over. With all of the immediate tasks taken care of, the Doctor decided to try out the mess hall...and find out if he would need an antacid everyday of the trip, or if the replicators in this ship could make food right, or even just better than his office on Earth would be ok

Skylark Halls

Commander Mulgrew walked through the halls after her briefing with the Captain, not remembering anything she said. She'd heard some of the other crew had arrived, but didn't see any of them. The more she thought about her last mission, the more she blamed herself for the destruction of the ship. Feeling depressed,Kate went to the mess for something to eat.

Skylark Messhall

Kate went to the replicator and ordered a drink, champagne to be exact. She knew she shouldn't drink, but it's what she did while depressed. While drinking she read a PADD about the crew and saw two of her old crew were going to be on the ship. The Admiral she already knew about, but didn't know that Syd would join the ship also. After three hours of drinking and reading,Kate fell asleep at the table she was sitting at. In front of her there were five glasses of champagne, all empty.

Skylark, Messhall

Syd entered the messhall in hopes of a drink and something to eat. He was very tired from all his unpacking and "prep" work for the position that he holds on the starship. Being the Chief Of Security he had alot of responsabilities.

Syd noticed a slighlty hunched over officer on a table and after walking closer he noticed it was the second officer of the ship, Kate Mulgrew.

"Ah excuse me, are you alright?" Syd tapped her shoulder.

Kate wakes up noticing Syd.

"What the hell do you want? I"m just relaxing before the ship sails off. Got a problem with that?"

"I know who you are. YOu were on the original Skylark. I'm not intoxicated,I only had one..maybe two drinks."

After saying that,Kate tries to get up,but falls over the chair. In doing so,the table falls also causing all the glasses to brake.

Doug heads to Sickbay, under the pretense that no one knows. "Hey Doc, how ya' doin, eh?". He acts pleasant but even a Doctor could tell that Spears was nervous. "....Soooooo......are ya' busy or have tha time now?"

"Good morning sir. Now would be fine, just go ahead and take a seat." Dr. Xavier noticed something was awry, but couldn't quite put his finger on it. He had a hunch the Admiral was concealing something, and thought it best to let him devulge it himself, rather than Tobias having to figure it out through scans. He gave Admiral Spears the opportunity to tell all.

"Admiral, with all due respect, it seems that you are hiding something. I think that it would make things easier if you told me what you know now."

Kate looks at his hand and hits it away.

"I don't need your help or anyone else's help.I'm perfectly fine on my own."

Kate tries to get up,but falls again. This time she bangs her head on the chair and cuts her head open.

"I don't have to listen to orders from an intoxicated officer, its my duty. This is only for the safty of others, including yourself."

With that, Syd managed to get Mulgrew all the way to Medical. Once they entered he put here down on a biobed.

"Doctor, could you handle tihs please?"

Sickbay

Doctor Xavier looked up from his discussion with Admiral Spears to see Commander Mulgrew and Chief of Security Syd stumble in. It didn't take long for Tobias to notice that the Security Chief was giving quite a lot of assistance to Skylark's second officer. It was pretty obvious that the Commander was intoxicated. The Doc really hoped that she wasn't on duty right now, because he knew of the hell she could go through if she were and if this were to get out beyond this room. Something that might not happen if the Doctor were able to make an arrangement with the drunken officer.

"Just set her on the biobed in the other room." He told Syd, pointing to the room that didn't contain a Rear Admiral.

"It looks like she needs some Compozine...probably something she ate in the mess hall is disagreeing with her," the Doctor continued his attempt to mislead the official record. Tobias waited to see Syd's response.

"Although it might be dameging if this gets out, but doctor, as the Chief Of Security I must assure you that all your records are correct. If they arent, I will be forced to persue this matter with an investigation." Syd was very clear and consise that he would not consent to the falsification of medical records.

"Something I ate? I didn't eat anything at all. Why do I even need to be here? I'm fine."

Josi starts to hiccup nonstop.

Well, so much for his attempt to do a service to a fellow officer. With a security chief who's not up for any malarky and a drunken officer who doesn't know when she's been given a freebee, Dr. Xavier has no choice but to submit the second officer for testing of intoxication while on duty.

"Very well Syd, since it's apparent how things are going here, I will test the Commander for a blood alcohol level. God knows this isn't the way my first cruise should have started. Not to mention how this will affect the ship"

The Doctor administered the test and got the results back immediately. The screen read 0.213%, consistent with 5 glasses of Champagne, and unsuitable to be the results of someone on duty. The Doctor gave a hypospray that would quicken the reduction of alocohol in the body, and gave his report to Syd.

"Here's my report. You should probably escort our Commander here to her quarters. What you do from there is your business."

Tobias walked away and into the other room where the Admiral was waiting for his pre-flight physical.

+ 1 Dilithium. Nice detail.

Skylark, Medical

"Thankyou for your cooperation Doctor, I will see the commander to her quarters."

Syd took the report from the docoter, which was simply a padd with a very detailed test result confirming that indeed, the commander was intoxicated on duty. All though Syd told the Doctor he would take no part in or condone flasification of reports, it is entirly up to the Chief Of Security aboard the said starship if the intoxication is made public and if the said officer is disiplined. Syd had no thought of doing so.

As Syd walked the Commander out of Medical he noticed she was much more sober.

Skylark, Turbolift

"I wont be taking any action on this intoxication-while-on duty report Commander. It wont do any good for this ship, espically before it has taken off on it's voyage." Syd looked over to the Commander, he had just done a huge favour for this officer and expected some sort of gratification.

+ 2 Dilithium. Good post.

"I know. Thanks for doing your job."

The Commander leaves the turbolift, thinking someone has already found out about her little drinking episode. When she goes around the corner, she sees the Admiral and he doesn't look happy.

Skylark Halls

"Hello,Admiral. Nice day isn't it?"

Doug notices Josi in Sickbay and is astonished. It's be 20 years or more and she hasn't changed a bit! Where as he, a now 50 year old with a round stomach. He used to be muscular, back then. He thinks back to those days.....but he has dutifully informed the Doctor of his problems with his breathing.

Doug: ....."Josi? .....HA! It's good ta see'ya! I.....erm......you runni'n thas 'ere vessel?
