PostWed Sep 27, 2006 3:43 pm    What am I missing?

Unfortunately, I don't believe I can watch Voyager where I am, I don't know why. Is it even on tv? (I'm certain it is)

The Voyager looks like a sexy starship and the "species" sounds interesting.

Am I missing something I shouldn't be? Would it be worth buying any seasons on DVD?

It will be on I think it's Spike TV shortly. As for buying the DVD's, I'd say buy every season...it's well worth it.

Spike tv starts it this fall, see if it's a channel you get?

Spike is how I watch TNG.

I've never seen Voyager on Spike, is it starting soon? Or is it already playing when I'm at school?

Honestly, don't worry about Seasons 1-3. I didn't like them at all. I guess it matters much more about what kind of Star Trek you really enjoy.

LOL...I assume you didn't like Kes, Defiant?

Anyway, I think Lord Borg has the best idea. Sample some episodes to see what you think. If you skip 1-3 though, you will miss a lot of important things and be very confused later throughour the show.

Sexy starship? *shudders*

VOY is...alright. I'll agree with Defiant that you should jump to the season 4-7 episodes. Much better...

I suppose as long as you are a DS9 lover, the first 3 seasons of VOY really drag and are boring. I didn't like how they established the crew the way they did, it was very boring. There were like 2-3 episodes that didn't suck in my opinion.

It's true, you'll miss some stuff, but so as long as you are informed or filled in (you could also just try to catch up on your own, but not thats really reccomended). It would be best to rent the first few seasons, and if you really like it, then you can buy it, or just keep renting them.

Sound advice Defiant, about renting them. If you really want to know which episodes are even worth watching of the first 3 seasons, just ask here. I think it's pretty much agreed upon which episodes are completely pointless and which ones are pretty much neccesary to understand the story.

Yeah, if you care to take the other route, you can just PM someone to get a synopsis of the beginnings of Voyager. You might like the first few ones honestly, its all a matter of what kind of Trek you're into.

Most series FIRST season is terrible. It's called "the actor's are getting comfortable with their characters..." it's standard with MOST any type of series...not just Trek.

I say, regardless of what people think, that you should watch ALL seasons consecutively. Don't skip any seasons, and try your hardest not to skip any episodes. It's just best to watch ANY series from beginning to end, instead of jumping in the middle of it. Despite how bad the first few seaons might possibly have been...

That all depends what type of sci-fi you're into.

Voyager is generally a more action driven series than the likes of TNG or TOS. If you're into the new BSG and love your realism, Voyager may not be for you. However, if you'd like a good action/adventure with some really cool characters and special effects in it, go for it. It was my first Star Trek series and I loved it, but then I saw TNG after that and preferred it. Horses for courses I say!

- Not if you intent to watch the show on spike. The ST dvd's are highly over priced. All of VOY costs a good $800. Plus the caseing is a joke - especially that price. If you plan on buying it, make sure you love it and use it alot. It does have some bonus material...but I wouldn't buy it for that.

If I were you just wait for it to be shown on spike.

Is it possible to buy an episode online? I thought i've seen that as a thing before. Perhaps on itunes? I haven't looked into it, in that i own all the dvds of it, so there'd be no point, but you could look into doing that. I adore STV, but to everyone their own!

Buy seasons 1, 2 and 3 on DVD. It's actually worth the money.

If you want to be careful, try to borrow the video tapes from season 1, 2 and 3. They are really worth to watch.

Agreed. I don't think TNG and DS9 started until about that time...that way they can run marathons of it and call it a holiday deal...LOL...

Maybe it's just me but I never heard anything about Voyager being on Spike TV. I watch it on the Space Channel at 3pm PST. They used to show it at 3 and again at 9pm (except on Friday) and then the Friday epi was always reran on Sat at 9am. Stupid network people decided that twice in one day is too good and they dropped it back to only once a day which really sucks cause lotsa times i'm working.

Anywhooo.... I happen to love Voyager and although there are some epis I like less than others I think each season is good and worth watching. I may be odd but I tend to like some of the epi's where Janeway is aggressive w/ her crew or other aliens. (telling Vidiians that she doesn't have the luxury to keep them in brig and it's morally wrong to kill them -- Phage; Telling B'Elanna how disappointed she is in her and then dealing w/ Tuvok about the Trajector Matrix -- final scene in Prime Factor)
