Wed Sep 20, 2006 1:12 am [Discussion] New RPG Census? |
|
With the dramatic decline in member activity and RP'ing, I think it might be about time to initiate a new RPG Census like I suggested a few months back and we enacted to get an idea for who's here and willing to RP and contribute regularly, which could help GMs and others when considering forming other RPGs and whatnot.
What say you all, especially the mods?

I'm always here. At least for the time being. I check DSG daily for new posts. I'm willing to help in any way I can. Just say the word.

It's not a question of contribution, it's a question of time. RM, you of all people know that school locks you down to doing nothing but school work, and that's just high school, many others are in College. There's simply no time during the week, at this point, and perhaps the weekend, depending on how things go for some people.

I can be active as much as i want.
I'm following the cursus IT, so i'm always behind a PC The problem is that i live in Netherland, Europe.
That's a big time difference...

I know that. But that doesn't even factor in to my rationale for doing this.

I'm available to Roleplay, I make some time...I can't always be quick, but I do my best to keep current, especially with my own RPGs....it's not fair to make an RPG and have a key role, and then abandon it to leave my cast just..........waiting for me...
Anyway...so yeah, I try for two to three RPGs...they help me get my mind off of stress.
I'm at STV at least once or twice a day--in the summer, more often that that !

For now, until something really good smacks me in the face, I'm sticking with the RPGs that I'm in right now and not joining any new ones. But don't hesitate to run ideas past me. I always make exceptions and change my mind.

I think there are so few people willing to RP that this wouldn't help much. Not to mention, new RPGs aren't going to help anything to be honest. We simply don't have enough people. Lord Borg just finished making a new RPG and several of the people that came here and said they're ready to post again have not joined. Why not?
I'll never understand why so many people claim they want to RP again, but don't join any of the RPGs on the site.
A census is a decent idea for looks, but I don't think it will reveal much...

I would join Agape except for the fact that it doesn't really interest me much. Nor does Warlord at the moment, or any of the other new RPGs.
I do hear what you're saying, though. Flooding the site with new RPGs isn't the answer, not by a long shot. It's rather that we need to conglomerate in more areas to make RPGs currently in place successful. But a massive RPG that has interest from everyone would be a good way to go, I think.
And I hope that was a typo, because a consensous and a census are entirely different things

Oh, here's another thing I noticed. Out of those people that are strong, recognizable RP'ers and consistent RP'ers, almost everyone is a mod. Is that funny, or what?

Ok... He didn't really mean you in general, but the same thing went for your 9/11 RPG, people didn't like it. No offence, but RPG'ing 9/11 is something many don't want to do.
Also...your correcting people gets kinda old...

Yeah, I wasn't criticizing you specifically for not joining LB's RPG. You're not one of the people that keep complaining about the lack of activity. You want to adress it, but you do contribute.
I'm not trying to be offensive, but a lot of the people complaining don't really contribute much.

Oh, I understand that. People didn't like my route for commemorating 9/11, and that's fine with me. I realize that.
And I don't usually do that anymore, you know. That was just such a big typo, as a consensous is entirely different from a census, and I was really just making sure that's what he meant, but in a more lighted (teasing) way. You don't have to be so mean about it all the time. I got it. People don't like correcting. I got that a while ago, starting with one member that has yet to post in this topic

It is true. To bring a real-world example into this (and NOT politics), I go to these Republican breakfasts often, as I've said, and there's a lot of complaining about the state party and so forth, and there's a lot of rhetoric, but no action. We won't get anywhere if people just complain about it, don't contribute, and don't try to do anything to remedy the problem. That's not gonna get us anywhere.

Yeah, that's pretty accurate comparison. I'm not sure how to solve the "problem". It's nothing that we can do. We just have to hope there is more unity in RPing.

Yes, well, I changed my mind and I'm taking further action. I'm joining Agape It's already got three of the site's best RP'ers on it. Why not make that a launchpoint for the next great RPG success story?

Thanks...
Like Andy said, I feel unity is needed, it's that people want to RUN the rpg that 'saves' the rpg area. That isn't going to happen with out unity. There are plenty of people wanting to post, but everyone wnats to only run the rpg. You gotta be willing to be IN rpg's first

I'm definitely just...not really interested in any of the currently running RPGs; HOWEVER, I think that if we chose one...like Agape...
OH and RM, Mr. Typo-Man, that's consensus !
Where was I ? Oh, right. Agape.
I'll join Agape if it means bringing a loyal group of RPers together to create an exciting game .
