The latest series of ST are all named after the ships/starbases they took place on (DS9, VOY, ENT). A common solution, but it strikes me as a bit... boring. I think DS9 suited it, as did VOY, but ENT could've been Star Trek: Beginnings, or Star Trek: First Frontier, or something. I had one called Star Trek: Starfleet Commandoes- anything to add?

It depends on your main storyline. I had fan fics/RPG's set in the Mirror Universe. Instead of naming it after the ship, I gave it a twisty name, similar to the naming scheme of the episodes for trek,
Examples
Inverted Morality
Inverted Images
that sort of thing. They name it what people can Identify with the most. Hence naming it after a ship/station (Though bear in mind, TNG and TOS did not do that)

Ya. I agree with LB. There was Star Trek TNG, obviously...
But DS9 did suit it's title. They're deep out there. Large space station...
Voyager suited its title as well. They were Voyagers. Making a long Voyage home. Kind of ironic that the ship's name somehow described the crew...LOL...
But I would have to agree with you about Enterprise. Because as it has been put out many times by the producers and such from Trek, "Enterprise was to show us the beginning of the Federation. How it all started, and our early interactions with the Vulcans..." and such.

I agree about Voyager. But somehow I think Star Trek: Voyagers (note the plural) would have been better

No. I disagree completely. Because the ship's name was just "Voyager." Now, yes the crew were "voyagers," but it was to be named after the ship, and the ship's name itself, described their journey. The whole point of the show.

- I agree; that they were boring...but ---While I think a title is very important, with Star Trek I can see why they did it the way they did.

The only bad title of the 4 "modern" series was indeed Enterprise. Not to mention that being a bad name for the ship (because continuity of the name Enterprise was way thrown off), it was way too busy a term in the franchise to have it refer to a specific series.
