I didn't think she should have gone. Pathetic death scene, too.

It was stupid, Death in trek is getting old, when an actor decideds they want out, or dont want to be full time anymore, the answer is always to kill the character off, not some sort of transfer (Look what happend, the actress wanted back after all but Opps! Yar was dead!)

Really? They could have brought her back! After they had her come in as a freakin Romulan or whatever, I think Star Trek could explain how she survived somehow. After all there weird plots in episodes, it could have been done. *shakes fist*

- Hey I'm sorry to say this to you. Because You like her character but I say -- Pathetic Death for a Pathetic Character, a fiting end.
(but Crosby came back as a very human looking Romulan, I mean quite honestly she was a very odd looking Romulan.)

I never cared much at all for Tasha, and I prefer Worf in that position than her, but that's just me.

- I could see Worf crushing her like a tin can. In...anything. But I'm not hear to bash her.

I think her character could have 'evolved' as a strong woman in a high ranking position on the flagship of the fleet.Thats where Janeway broke groung as a female captain in voyager!
Her lines and acting were a bit pathetic, but with the right dialog her character could have really took off!!
YES her death scene with the Tar monster was stupid!

Since the series was so awesome (and better) in the seasons following her death, there's no reason to see her death as a bad thing. Her backround was, although designed to be tragic, quite dull, and allowed little story exploration. And why did Geordi think that Tasha was so beautiful when Riker gave him normal vision for a moment...she seemed a little manly to me? Finally, her death scene was cheesy, however, the series wasn't that well established yet to make the death all that dramatic.

I have little respect for Denise Crosby as an actress. She thought she could do better than Star Trek, so thats why she left. She thought it was below her. Then when it became extremely popular (3rd season or so), she realized she made a mistake, so they wrote her in as Sela. It was terrible really. Then she ran out of money and no one would hire her, so she made Trekkies and Trekkies 2. She does practically every convention they let her do so that she can soak up the attention. Im sorry, I know it sounds terrible and haterish, but thats my opinion.

- Really? I didn't know that. Kind of like David Caruso in NYPD Blue...didn't make a breakout til CSI Miami.

Okay I finally saw her die in 'Skin of Evil' and I do agree with most of what people are saying about her death. Her death was pathedic. She was killed by a Tar-man. I would have figured this episode to be in the second or third season, the first season ...that was pretty sudden.

What the hell is this on her face?

That's a mighty good question. I guess it was supposed to make her death seem more realistic...

I prefer Worf in her spot, however it wasn't like her character made TNG terrible or anything so I'd rather see her "transfer" than die.

I think Tasha would've been really cool to keep on. I would've like to see her and Data. I have an affinity for girls from Turkana (AIASJIA! ), they could've really developed her. I saw potential in her. It was only the first season, after all. Most of the characters in TNG were kind of "blah" the first season. They always get better.

This is true...and you're very correct...^^^
But she WANTED off...She was "bored" with the fact that she was doing nothing but stand there on the bridge every episode with a few lines about another ship...Then she was very happy and excited about the one or two episodes that helped to develop her character, but then she was disappointed when she was put back in her usual spot doing nothing in the next episode...so she wanted off...And they let her go...

Eh, I don't know about that. And until I read something a little more official than that statement above, I won't try to guess.
For all we know, it was a simple matter of Trek wanted her back for a cameo appearance. Many shows do it all the time. Stargate SG-1 for instance does it with General Hammond and Jack O'Neill all the time now...Even Dr. Frasier made a guest cameo appearance after they killed off her character...

okay two things here.
One I also hate it when someone who has made a very good living and has been able to experience something a large group would love to do whinges that they are not getting enough scenes.
Denise Crosby is a nice enough lady but to think you were ever going to find a regular job as an actor as good as this was stupid (look at Gates Macfadden, her character is probably the most under utilised character in TV history but Gates stuck it out and she then got some good juicy scenes later on, although I still do not know why she is part of the movies, she does not do anything).
And similar with Terry Farrell. She got Becker so she left DS9 and all she was doingin Becker was standing behind a diner counter pouring coffee, wow what a career.
I have a feeling that one of Tasha, Worf or Geordi was going to go anyway after the first season because you could not have Worf on the bridge just standing around, and you could not have a lowly conn oficer not being killed every week (what is that saying about redshirts).
I think when Denise went to the creators and said "I want out" they were quite willing to say sayonara, and just brought her back because she herself had come up with the idea of Sela, and the creators liked it.

I'm glad she went. Don't get me wrong she was a cool character and definatly should have done at least a full season before leaving but alot of the times her character just came across as a bit annoying and we didnt learn about he character. It just had her telling us. Like she would randomly talk about her childhood and rape gangs blah blah blah and its like WOMAN you've only done a few episodes! dont just blurt your whole troubled character out like that in one go. let us learn about you and see how you have developed because of your past. not just go. yeah i was on a planet that had rape gangs. im very troubled thats why i tell every stranger that walks past and why i have a fetish for beating up aliens.
