PostWed Sep 20, 2006 12:46 am    [Discussion] RPG Ideas

I made this thread for everyone who wants to collaborate on a new RPG; so just jump right on in and please give feedback on EVERY RPG IDEA tha is posted in here, including mine.

Many people here at STV like RPGs which are not Trek-based. If that's you, talk about what you'd like to do to make a non-Trek RPG, etc....brainstorm !!

Others prefer Trek-based RPGs. If that's you (then I'm with ya there), go ahead and tell us all about the ideas you have for a new RPG. Do you go for RPGs set in Kirk's or Archer's time period ?? Maybe you'd rather roleplay in a more Voyager/DS9 timeframe.....or even beyond that !

Talk to us, let's work together and maybe we can come up with an RPG that will offer something for everyone !!!

---------------------------------------------------

Right now, I'm thinking about a Trek-based RPG that takes place in two places. Our Federation and home universe...and an alien planet in a neighboring universe.

Yes, that's right, I said it.

So, it's maybe the year...I don't know, sometime in the 24th or 25th Century...the Federation has advanced its warp technology within the last ten years, after a full-scale galactic war involving the Federation, who allied with the Romulans, Klingons, and even Species 8472, leaving the Borg to surrender. Many drones were liberated during the war and are struggling to reunite themselves with their original identities.

Anyway, the Federation has created a new task force (name to be applied later) to reach out beyond the known galaxies and chart new territories in the universe...while away, this task force, headed by an ex-drone Starfleet Fleet Captain (stirs much controversy, stumbles across what it considers to be a new galaxy, which they designate as the Angelus Galaxy....and the first planet they come to in the Angelus Galaxy, Akintisae Alpha, is discovered not just to be a planet in a neighboring galaxy---rather, it exists in a neighboring universe, and its people have been on a mission to find others outside their own charted territory...

There will be a war arch somehow...but anyway, the Akintisaens possess technology that is almost beyond science...but there are dark story archs to be unraveled as the Federation fails to hear from the Task Force.

Since the Angelus Galaxy exists in a separate universe, there is no method of communication....

OKies...so there's more to it...I'm just trying to give you some idea of where i'm going with this..because the Romulans are going to start getting greedy, and somewhat threatened by the thought of a whole new universe to try and conquer....etc etc...

Good ideas, but I'm really empty on ideas for new RPGs right now I think we need to find a way to get STV's best involved in an RPG Congress to develop a star RPG that will succeed like DSG and be a fantastic creation and help revive and re-energize STV's RP'ing base and everything else about STV RP'ing.

Acctually, i think that the RPG "Builders" here must come together and make one big RPG, wich is soo excellent that it doesn't need perfection.

Nah, i'm just kidding. That would be a lot of e-mail work, lol.

To Cathexis:
I like you're RPG idea, Cathexis. Only, an alliance with Species 8472? I don't think that's impossible. They destroy everything that's standing in thier way, why should they need allies? They also come from another Galaxy, maybe even another dimension.. Okay, it's fiction.. I know that, but.. I can't really understand why they would be allies with the Federation, the organization who helped the Borg to destroy thier ships! I see even faster the Cardassians have an alliance with the Federation then Species 8472.

I gotta admit, I'm running out of rpg ideas... and interested rpgers.
Even rob doesn't bother to apply for a position anymore, lol.
((You used to be my main customer! I reserved a place for you, lol))
Sometimes lack of people IS a VERY BIG problem.

Thank you soooooo much for your feedback, I was DYING to hear back from someone about my idea. Teehee..

Okay, remember in Voyager how they allied with the Borg against 8472 ? I think that's what you're on about...but you also have to remember that when Janeway found out that the Borg started the whole thing when they tried to assimilate Species 8472, they turned their back on the Borg and tried to apologize....

Also remember that this RPG would be set in the future, and I think...with time, we can predict that the Federation came to a peaceful pact with 8472 at some point.

We don't HAVE to include them in the alliance--we could just leave them out of the picture altogether...or we could simply say they just went after the Borg on their own and didn't ally with anyone....I think it'd be ludacris to not have them involved at all....

AGAIN, the War itself is not AS important to the storyline as the whole idea of discovering a whole other universe !! One that is NOT a mirror of our own. A whole new one ! Yeah. That'd be sweet.
