MONTREAL - At least one gunman in a black trench coat opened fire Wednesday in the cafeteria of a Montreal college and wounded an unknown number of people before shooting himself, witnesses and police said.

It's confirmed the shooter has been killed by the Montreal police. Whether or not any students are dead is a matter of debate at the moment. Different news channels are reporting different casualties. CTV says 12 injured, 6 critical, 2 severe, 4 stable, but the MSN article is reporting 16 injured and 4 dead.

Holy crap that's scary stuff. I hope that the students didn't die, I feel bad for the famlies of the injured, and any student that did (If they did) die. I'll see what CNN is saying.

Here's another article from MSN.ca, the Canadian MSN page.

> MSN.ca <

And here's CNN's.

CNN.com wrote:
MONTREAL, Quebec (CNN) -- Fears that "multiple shooters" were firing weapons at Dawson College in downtown Montreal prompted police to cordon off the 12-acre campus Wednesday, a police spokesman said.

Two of the gunmen were killed, the college administration office said in a recorded message. One of the gunmen was shot by police, the message said.

Police would not confirm that two shooters were dead

That was in bad taste, Dirk. Please refrain from comments like that, especially in light of the topic.

Yeah, I feel speechless to. It's horrible. I hope that none of the students die, I have heard some are critical.

As of right now, the official casualty report is 1 student dead, 19 wounded. (There's a link there. It's hard to see due to the blue on blue background)

Awaiting further news on the injured. The one who died was a young woman in her early 20s. Her name has not yet been released because the police can't get ahold of her family.

Very sad news indeed. Reminds me of the Columbine one.

I just hope that the Canadian Government doesn't make any rash emotional decisions to ban guns or something. That's what we tend to do here in the UK and it always has the opposite effect than intended.

My friend goes to Concordia, which is the University which is literally about 2 minutes away from Dawson. All the kids ended up fleeing to Concordia to gather and make sure their friends were fine, along with getting out of harm's way, and both schools had psychiatrists and counsellors there.

Anyways, my friend said everyone was either shaking or crying. Everybody was terrified, and with good reason, too.

Those poor people... I feel bad they had to go though that, and what were they doing? Trying to get and education so they can make something out of their lives.

This is horrible news! My heart goes out to those affected by this - especially those who witnessed it and were injured, and the family of the deceased.
