PostSat Sep 09, 2006 2:52 am    Jurassic Park: Muerte (Provisional RPG)

Date:

July 12, 2006.

Story:

Las Cinco Muertes (The Five Deaths) have been quarantined. Isla Nublar, the actual park, was destroyed by the Costa Rican government years ago. The dream turned nightmare that was Jurassic Park has fallen into silence and has become a forgotten memory. InGen, the company that created the bio-engineered dinosaurs was bankrupt and has fallen out of the public eye. While most don't know about the islands and what they contain, and others fight to forget what they saw, some want to return to the island. Biosyn, the corporation that has been competing with Ingen for years, still wishes to gain the secret of Jurassic Park for itself. They had paid an employee of InGen off to steal embryos, but he was killed. Later, one of Biosyn's members went Site B, Isla Sorna, himself and was also killed. Tired with failure after failure, Biosyn decides to send a team of mercaneries to the island, hoping that they can succeed where so many others have failed...

School took him to the United States and it was there that he decided to enrol in the military for the adrenaline rush and physical demands. After extensive training he was able to join the Navy Seals. Being typically hotheaded, Brassard was dishonourably discharged from the Seals after striking a superior officer and disobeying orders leading to the completion of a mission but with an unwanted casualty. Following his childhood fondness of animals, he attempted to settle down, first becoming a warden at a games reserve, and then later becoming a curator at a zoo. It was there he learned various patterns of animals and learned to deal with dangerous and even deadly animals. He was known to hunt animals that were a danger to humans and tranquilize them, moving them more secluded locations. While this satiated some of his desire for adrenaline, it was not always enough. He longed once more for the heart-racing drama of a combat situation but with his record, would be unable. Coincidentally enough, that was when Biosyn knocked on Brassards door, giving him the opportunities of his longing for excitement and something that piqued his interest immensely with his intrigue of animals.
Brassard is physically fit and well versed in several forms of combat and use of weapons. He is rather boastful and his anger and pride can often get the best of him. While he is sometimes arrogant, his knowledge and abilities often back his words. There is the odd time when he can be quite kind, too, especially with young children, feeding them information at the zoo he is employed at.

When he finished his courses he took a year off to relax and then submitted an application to an institute that said theyd find a job where his skills would be put to good use. It wasnt long before Mark was contacted by an official from Biosyn. He had worked for them for about 6 months before he was pulled off assignment and shuffled onto a boat with his equipment.

She had top grades, and after recieving her degree in cellular-molecular biology, went on for her combined M.D./Ph.D. from UT Southwestern. She was known for her sarcasm, kindness, and fierce independence. After she received her degree she was hired by the Howard Hughes Foundation for an ambitious project in genetics. When Biosyn got word of her work in evolutionary genetics, they approached her with a pitch that had more to do with paleogenetics than human. 7) Try and read the posts. I can understand if you don't want to sift through an essay of a post. If you don't want to, don't guess. PM me and I will give you a detailed summary of what has happened. I would rather avoid someone posting a post that makes no sense and contradicts other posts and then me having to tell them to edit. I honestly do not mind giving summaries.
8) Please do not use asteriks to define action. For example *Runs to the turbolift*. Just put "(Insert character name) runs to the turbolift."
9) If you want to post a picture of a certain action taking place, for example a Federation fleet is dropping out of warp, then please no animation pictures or a HUGE picture. If you use photobucket, which we are supposed to be doing, resize it to be smaller please. Not everyone can handle the animations and huge pictures.

Special Notes:

[IMPORTANT NOTE] 1) This RPG is based off the novels, not the movies. Sorry, but I find the novels much more dark and somber, just like this RPG is going to be. If you haven't read the novels, just look at these two, Link I and Link II, links. Both have sections that show where the novels and movie differentiate. Not to mention, it isn't a big deal really. We won't be refering much to the first two novel/movies anyways. As for Jurassic Park III? No novel-never happened in this RPG.
2) This RPG is meant to be much more dark and adult, a definite change from the happy utopian Star Trek RPGs.
3) If you want another role that I don't have, PM me and we'll talk about it.
4) Don't fret about the weapons, I'm adding more later.
5) NPCs will be killed, so don't worry about your character being chosen by me to be offed, it won't happen.

-Biosyn Headquarters, Boardroom-

A dark boardroom was occupied soley by two people. It was late, much later than any corporate member would stay, over time or not. Two people remained though, both discussing plans for the future of their company, Biosyn. Biosyn was the top competitor against InGen, the latter being formely run by John Hammond. The billionaire dissapeared years ago and was presumed dead. InGen was no longer a competitor since it went bankrupt from the fiasco of the park on Isla Nublar. Still, it had achieved something that Biosyn could never hope to do-it created dinosaurs. Biosyn, obsessed with gaining the upperhand, had wanted to find a way to compete with that. Lewis Dodgeson had told the board members that he found a way to obtain the DNA and that there would be nothing illegal about it. Of course, he had lied and had paid off an employee of Hammond's to steal the embryos. The employee was presumambly killed. Years later, Dodgeson took a team to Site B to steal Dinosaur eggs and he too was killed, along with the entire team. Very few knew about all of this, only a select few. One of them being Alexander White. He was a high ranking board member and did not want to give up on what Dodgeson had tried to do. He knew his company would dissaprove with anything illegal, at least some of them would, so he decided to take matters into his own hands.

"Are you sure about this? Melissa Jones asked.

The elderly man, closed a folder, containing files. He cleared his throat and looked over at her. Alexander stood across from her, on the opposite side of the table.

"My dear," He said, "If I succeed, Biosyn will catch up on years of research. Do you understand what that means? Even bankrupt, InGen still lords over us because they did what we could not. For Christs sakes...."

He slammed his fist on the table.

"We were experimenting with trout," He said bitterly, "While they were ressurecting animals that existed millions of years ago. It's embarassing."

Melissa, a fellow board member, took a sip of water from a glass on the table. The board room was dark, save for a lamp on the table.

"How do you even plan on getting there?" She asked, "Our boats and planes will be too noticable. The Costa Rican government doesn't like anyone flying around there, knowing what happened there."

Alexander smiled, obviously not deterred by her pessimism. Site B was a very secret location. Virtually no one knows about it. Getting information on it was not easy. The Costa Rican government suspects the animals might be there, but they haven't sent anyone in. They have enough problems to deal with. Some of the dinosaurs from Isla Nublar have made it to the mainland and stories from farmers that raptors and compys are eating their livestock, flood the land. Most people say it's just a myth, but Alexander knows better. Some of the animals got off the island, not many though. Jurassic Park, the actual park itself, was destroyed by the Costa Rican airforce. So that would not be an ideal choice for the mission...

"I have that taken care of," He explained, "I paid a fisherman to use his boat. We will go unnoticed. The Costa Rican government is not monitering every fishing boat around those islands."

She sighed and shook her head, still not convinced.

"How many people know about this?" She asked.

Alexander remained standing in front of his chair, staring at the closed folder.

"Not many," He asked, "Just enough to gain the special equipment and some down in the accounting office."

"Accounting?" She asked.

"Of course," He said, "This requires a lot of money, nearly 200 million dollars. It isn't easy to make that much dissapear without raising eyebrows."

She poured more water to drink, thirsty from the heat the lamp gave off.

"How do you plan on doing this anyways?" She asked, "No offense Alex, but you're too old to be going on dangerous safaris..."

He lifted up the folder, filled with unknown documents.

"I won't be going alone..." He said mysteriously.

His eyes moved towards the folder. In it, there were names and BIOs of people that would help him realize his greatest dream-Biosyn surpassing InGen and gaining the power...yes power...to create dinosaurs. They would become the foremost company of genetic engineering. They would be rich beyond any wildest dreams and scientific doors would open. It did not phase Alexander that many would die to realize this dream...no...not at all.

-7 Months Later-

-La Luna, Main Deck-

Faris Al-Farik leaned on the railing of the boat, smoking a cigerrate and staring into the vast sea. He inhaled and pulled the tobacco filled cig. out of his mouth, blowing the smoke into the air. They had been at sea for a while now, heading towards some island. Isla something, a name he already forget. It wasn't really his responsibility to memorize the local geography anyways. He was paid to lead a group of people onto the island, avoid the local wildlife, and bring them back safely. It was simple enough really. He didn't know why they needed so much equipment. Biosyn briefed him on the mission, but he still could not beleive it. It wasn't necessarily a secret about Jurassic Park, but he didn't believe that actual dinosaurs existed in this day and age. He figured it was more of...giant iguanas or something. Genetic engineered mutants, made to look like dinosaurs. He pulled the cigerrate from his mouth and flicked what was left into the sea. Smoke bellowed from his mouth as he turned and walked towards the jeep. It was obviously heavily modified. Farik still didn't understand why all of this was needed. He was told they didn't even have to go far inland, just near the beach area. This wasn't even supposed to take longer than one week. He hadn't met any of the crew, despite being on the ship long enough. Farik liked to keep to himself mostly. He didn't understand all of the secrecy. He gained orders from an unknown source, was paid an exorbonent amount, and then sent to the docks to board the boat. There was much more to all of this...much more..

-La Luna, Guest Quarters-

Mark had tried to get a little rest on the way. He wasnt very successful though. Even the slightest wave made him seasick. He felt a slight wave again.
Mother of God! Cant they keep the bloody boat steady? Mark hopped out of his bunk. The guy below him was still sleeping soundly. How does he do it?, Mark Wondered. Mark went up on deck to take a look around.

-La Luna, Main Deck-

Mark looked around. There were several people scuttling about performing various tasks. Others just standing around.

-La Luna, Main Deck-

Liana Wilson, Huntress extradordenare, or so some say, walked onto the Main Deck and deeply breathed in the sea air. So refershing. She move gracefully though the area on the deck, moving towards the Jeep, which had some interesting modifications. She could be inside the jeep, while it was moving and shoot by the looks of things. She suddenly noticed one of the strangers standning near it. He had seemingly kept to himself, as did many others. She stayed in her room, not talking to many aside from paul. She spoke to the man, preparing to get a gist of how he is.

"Do we really need all of this?"

(Please take into consideration that this RPG WILL spoil the novels. So...if you don't want that, close your eyes. )

-La Luna, Main Deck-

Farik turned his head and noticed a rather young looking woman approach him and ask if the equipment was necessary. It seemed he wasn't the only who felt that way about all of it. He knew who she was, same for all the other passengers. Farik read their BIOs, given to him be Alexander White, who was on the boat as well. The only real crew of this ship was two Hispanic men, both who did not work for Biosyn but was allowing them to use their boat. A way to...get around the Costa Rican government no doubt.

"F**k if I know," He said, "I'm not privy to such information miss Wilson, I just follow orders."

He turned his back to her, heading back towards the railing. Paul Rutaganda walked out of the lower deck and headed towards Liana. He was carrying one of her guns. Paul spoke in his native tongue, not wanting anyone else to understand.

"(Miss Wilson)," He said, "(This gun will be no good until thorough cleaning. The bottom deck is flooded with water and some of it got into the barrel. It will be useless for now. I'm sorry.)"

He was visibly annoyed with the rather filthy boat and it's negligent crew. The two Hispanic men seemed more preoccupied with other matters, then seeing to the comfert of the crew.

-La Luna, Helm-

Hector Marrero was seeing to the helm, ensuring they were on course. His son, Juan, approached him, an annoyed look on his face. He spoke in Spanish to his father, in case any of the others were around.

"(Papa)," He said, "(One of the crew was complaining about flooding in the lower compartments.)"

His father slapped the back of his son's head.

"(Idiot!)," He scolded, "(I told you to fix that! We're getting paid by these people...a lot of money. Do you understand me!?)"

Juan slowly nodded, "(We shouldn't be going! I don't care how much they're paying us! Nothing is woth our lives. You heard the stories...)"

Hector frowned, knowing what his son was true.

"(We'll be careful)," He promised, "(I won't go up river. I'll drop them at beach. We don't have to leave the boat.)"

His son stared at him, not believing what he was saying. Without another word, he walked out...

~ La Luna, Main Deck ~

Vincent Brassard walked out from the interior of the ship carrying a large black bag. He was quite excited, though he did not visibly show it, afterall, he was Brassard, the somewhat well-known hunter at a popular zoo. While he did not have his own TV show or anything, he was often contracted by other agencies to catch animals as, in this business, his name was often associated with 'one of the best'. The ship rocked back and forth slightly as it motored along through the water to the island that apparently was inhabited by something that intrigued many humans; dinosaurs of the past. Brassard smiled inwardly. While they were just being sent to obtain something or another, Vincent wasn't quite sure, the prospect of possibly catching and bringing back a live dinosaur that could propel his name up above all else seemed like a rather idea. Whether is was actually plausable was another story, however.

Vincent moved over to the stairs, where he walked up them and sat at the top of the raised portion of the main deck and opened his black bag. The bag was filled up with various weapons and equipment that he brought along with him for the expadition. He pulled out a rifle from his bag and dismantled it so he could clean it properly.

Vincent would occasionally look up from his rifle and look around the boat and into the horizon, anticipating their arrival to the island where he would experience something most people only dreamed of. His heart began to race with excitement of the danger they were going to face . Many called him an adrenaline junkie, which he probably was and didn't care. He could hear voices from the beyond the equipment that blocked him from viewing the entire deck. He could, however, see the nose of the jeep and decided that's where they were, most likely. He would go and acquaint himself with them shortly. First he needed to reassemble his weapon.

Liana sighed as she was told the news by Paul. This damn boat.

("It's not your fault, Paul. Get the things we need, and bring it to the deck, We shall make sure their clean togetherr.")

Liana offered a slight smile then looked around when she recognized a face. No, way, what the hell? She stoped over towards Vincent.

"What the hell are you doing here?"

~ La Luna, Main Deck ~

Vincent Brassard was nearly done reassembling his rifle when he suddenly heard someone speaking to him. The voice sounded vaguely familiar. When he looked up, it became all too clear.

"Mautadit de clisse," he muttered, "I should ask you the same thing, though, being the gentleman that I am, I shall answer first," Vincent said as he snapped the final piece of his rifle into place and loaded the cartridge, "I was hired by Biosyn to come along on this mission to aid in the gathering of valuable deoxyribonucleic acid and to protect the people of intellectual importance."

He turned and placed his weapon back into his bag and zipped it up, placing a lock onto it and leaning backwards, then stretched his legs outwards as he remained sitting on the steps.

-La Luna, Main Deck-

A beep went off. Mark brought his arm up level and opened his portable computer. He opened the browser and brought up his email. Hed gotten one from his mother. All the usual motherly concerns and things about making sure he took care of himself. Hed be sure to respond when he was on dry land again. One man had been working with his weapon. Then started talking to someone else. Mark also saw a few others talking to each other. He thought about trying to get into the chat when another wave of seasickness hit him. He ran close the railing and threw up over the side. He kept his head over the rail incase any more came up.

-La Luna, Trailer-

Alexander White, spearhead of this expedition, was sitting inside one of the trailers they would be using while on the island. It would serve as a good base of operations. Destroying it would take a rather large predator and if one of those things came around...well...that is why he paid the hunters to take it down. He had no interest in "preserving" nature or anything of that sort. In fact, he had ordered them to fire and kill any of the animals that got too close to their encampment, predator or not. His eyes stared at a rather extensive list of dinosaurs that InGen had marked to be on the island. He had to pay a lot of money to obtain these documents. They would start near the beach, where more of the herbivores where. They would be safe there...he was sure of it...

-La Luna, Main Deck-

Farik noticed the woman he had talked to, speak to the other hunter on this trip. Hunters? Where they really needed to fight against lizards? It seemed ridiculous to him. He heard someone rush to a nearby railing and puke off the side of the boat. Farik cringed and if he had given a s**t, he would have said some encouraging words to the poor guy, but he didn't. He looked back out into the foggy mist. It was pitch black dark and the fog didn't help matters. They would be approaching the island soon...would they be ready for what lay there?

Liana scoffed.

"Spare me the interllectual talk, we all know that you probably looked the words up in a dictionary hidden in your room."

Liana sighed in fustration, how come they hired this arrogant bastard? She moved a couple feet away from him and looked at him, shifting her weight.

"I suppose that you have orders to kill anything that comes near the encampment as well?"

That order disturbed Liana, of course everyone else thought they knew the better, but they had the money. Not that she really needed it.

"Why hire you and me?"

Mark lifted his head back up and wiped his mouth with his sleeve. He hoped theyd be off this swaying monstrosity soon. He pulled a flask off his belt and took a small gulp. He placed the flask back onto his belt and continued to observe the interactions of the people on the deck.

Vincent sighed and cocked his head sideways as he smirked at the woman. And people called him arrogant?

"Well, my dear, if you believe that I entail a dictionary in order to sophisticatedly compose what I articulate, then you are despairingly erroneous," Vincent said quite pompously to Liana, "As for why the two of us were hired, it seems quite simple. They believe that the level of threat is high enough to warrant the skills of yourself and yours truly. Quite simple, really. Best to be safe, no?" Vincent said in his French accent with a smile, "And yes, I was ordered to exterminate all who enter our encampment and any animals that pose a threat to the group."

-La Luna, Trailer-

The old man closed the folder he was reading and looked out the window of the trailer, only to see night and lights off the boat. He had barely spoken to the passengers, not that he cared. They would have plenty of time to learn about each other while on the island. He rose from his seat and walked out of the trailer...

-La Luna, Main Deck-

Alexander stepped onto the rather wet deck, noticing some of the passengers were awake this late. He eyed the team leader, the quiet Faris Al-Farik. The man kept to himself for unknown reasons. Alexander didn't really care, just as long he did his damn job. The captain of the boat, Hector Marrero, approached him.

"Senor," He said, "Excuse me, but I wanted to inform you we were approaching the island. Where do you want us to land?"

Farik too notice of this and butted into the conversation rather rudely.

"We're not landing now." He said.

Alexander reacted in surprise, "Excuse me? That decision is not yours to make."

"Am I the team leader?" He asked defiantly.

"Yes, but-" Alexander said but was cut off.

"Then let me do my job," He said, "We're not landing on that island at night. While I believe this is just some...wild goose chase, I'm not taking any risks. You obviously brought a lot of weaponry and high tech equipment for Kimodo Dragons. I have a feeling there is more than meets the eye and I don't give a s**t. What I do care about is doing my job right. Everyone goes in alive, everyone comes out. Understood?"

The old man smiled, impressed with him, but not deterred.

"Your...concern is admirable," He said, "But we are to begin immediatly. We have a time limit. We'll land as soon as we get there."

Farik, defeated by his employer, slowly nodded but was not pleased.

"Do what you want," He said, "But I won't be responsible for any trouble we run into."

Alexander smiled, "Calm down. How dangerous can it be? What was it you said...Kimodo Dragons?"

He motioned towards the arguing Liana and Vincent, "That is why I paid them more than their college educations. They'll shoot any animal that is a threat..."

Farik rolled his eyes and walked off, annoyed that this man had come along. Hadn't he been paid to be the leader?

"You may land when ready captain." Alexander told Hector.

-La Luna, Aft Section-

Paul Rutaganda and Rohit Patel were checking the equipment before disembarking. The former was working to pack all of Liana's weaponry. Some would have to be left behind temporarily to be checked. He didn't want one of the guns to get stuck if a predator attacked. Paul had been in her service since she was child, working for her rents. He had gone along with her on every hunt she had gone to.

"So where are you from?" Rohit asked.

The dark skinned male cast a suspicious glace in Rohit's direction.

"Rwanda." He said in a thick accent.

Rohit nodded, loading one of the guns.

"Ah right!" He said, "I knew the accent was familiar. Well...kind of. I'm from the states myself."

Paul slowly nodded, barely understanding what the man was saying. He knew English but it certainly took a level of difficulty for him to translate the words.

"Ah..." He said, uninterested.

"So why are you here?" He asked, "How are you involved?"

The Rwandan loaded one of the elephant shot guns that Liana had brought.

"I am employee for miss Wilson." He said.

Rohit nodded, not really understanding who she was, but was only making polite conversation.

"Got cha." He said.

-La Luna, Main Deck-

Liana rolled her eyes. She sighed and shook her head. She crouched down low, not quite sitting down on the deck.

"Even if their not a threat?"

Knowing full well being an ass, and making an ass of her self would do no good, she would for now, but off any tension. She narrowed her eyes slightly. Why would that have to be?

"Pardon me"

She stood and moved down the deck, looking for that old man, seeing if he was around. She found him quickly afterwards.

"Pardon me," She started, glancing down towards the other end of the boat where Paul was working on loadin things, "But why do we have to kill everything? Even what's not a threat? Those can be easily taken care of in non leathal means."

-La Luna, Main Deck-

Alex stepped out onto the main deck and took a look at the people around him, then out towards the island they were heading towards. He smiled and thought of the coming days.

The island looked beutiful from the boat, but it had almost an eriesness to it. Alex' eyes slid from Farik to Alexander White. He could feel the pistol he had in the holster under his coat. He often carried it when he was around other Mercs.

Alex looked to Farik and he said.

"When're we landing on the island?"

Alexander turned to face Liana when he spoke.

"Because even herbivores on this island can be dangerous," He said, "It's safer this way."

Liana frowned slightly. What did that mean? Since when were herbivores dangerious?

"You have a lot to learn about Herbivors, a lot."

She sighed and looked out to the ocean, wondering when they would be landing. What would make a herbivor so bad that it was dangerious? Many are more afraid of humans then humans would be of them. She looked back to the young man that just walked up and offered a warm smile before turning back to the old man infront of her.

Alexander smiled and looked down at the floor, "I suggest you lose that...African safari mentality, because here that will get you killed."

Meanwhile, on another part of the main deck...

Farik turned his head to face the young paleontologist. He frowned, slightly annoyed at being interrupted.

"Apparently," He said, "Very soon..."

He stared into the fog and wondered where this island was. What was lurking there, he had no clue.

Liana glared at the old man. What did he just say?

"This... 'African safari mentality', has seen many great beast. If you have ones so dangerious here, it is not me you should be worried about."

Liana sighed.

"Whatever, I'll do what I ahve to do, but know this: IF i know I don't have to kill? I wont"

Liana looked out to the ocean, or tried to. The Fog in the night sky inhibbited the view.

"What the hell's so important on this island?"

Alexander fumed inwardly at her comment. She was making demands to him? Who the hell did she think she was? With one word, her monetary funds would be emptied out in a second.

"That is cute," He said, "In a juvenile way, but you will do as I say once we get to that island. You may not want to now, but once you see what is there, you'll do it."

With that, he turned away from her, tired of the arguing from the team. Farik noticed the exchange from where he stood. A part of him respected Liana for telling the old bastard off.

Liana also fumed inside. Cute?! He said that? Liana hated that word being refered to her in any sort of manner what so ever. She balled her fist and slamed down on the railing and made a noise though her throat.

"Bastard..." she muttered.

She huffed slightly then looked over to Farik.

"I..."

She shrughed not really knowing what to say.

"I don't think we've met. Liana Wilson." She introed her self, Liana gracefuly bowed slightly then stood tall.

After recieving Fariks glare Alex decided it was best to stay out of this conversation for now. He looked off the boat out into the fog. From what he had caught of Farik's conversation they were debating weather or not they required all the hi-tech weapons.

Alex began to walk away from the group of people and he pulled out a tape recorder. "July 12, 2006, Audio Log of Dr. Alexander McKnight. There is somewhat of a tight atmosphere onboard this boat. I've heard part of some of the Biosyn regulars conversations, it seems theres more to this island than what they are letting on. The team is more heavily armed than necisarry for the type of mission we are on...I believe Biosyn has alterior motives."

-La Luna, Main Deck-

As Alex walked off, Farik noticed Liana approach him and introduce herself. He pulled out a cigerrate and lit it with a match.

"Faris Al-Farik." He replied, introducing himself in a lackluster way.

After inhaling, he blew smoke out into the mysterious fog. Everything was quiet, very quiet. It disturbed Farik greatly. He was about to ask a question, but heard someone screaming. His hand turned upwards to the helm and he saw the young Hispanic male pointing out to the sea. Farik followed the direction he was pointing to. At first, all he could see was misty fog. He rushed over to one of the massive lights and swirled it to cut through the fog and light the way. He squinted his eyes and finally saw it...a boat...about the same size as La Luna. What stood out most was blood was all over the deck, even dripping down the side.

"What the hell!?" He said.

He shined the light over the boat, but saw nothing. What had done that to the crew?
