Quote: | Kinky Friedman, the proudly politically incorrect entertainer running for governor, said Wednesday he wouldn't put just 1,500 National Guard troops on the Texas-Mexico border, he'd send 10,000. |

Uh, ok.... and how would that all be paid for? Aside from gaining him attention, what would he do with it?

If elected governor and he did this, illegal immigration would undoubtedly decrease 10-fold. It would be costly, but it would be worth it overall.

Also if elected govenor, he would put Willie Nelson as head of the energy department .
I honestly don't know how this guy is even under consideration for govenor...the thought of it just horrifies me.... He could say he has a cure for illegal immigration that will make everyone happy and I still wouldn't vote for him.

He's a very interesting candidate, though. From what I've heard of him, he looks like he'd be a good choice. I might just vote for him, were I a Texan and of-age.

The Texas gov race is 4 way this time.
Kinky is a very good candidate IMO. Not a usual candidate and that's good.
Hes very liberal as well. Supports gay marriage, anti death penalty, supports women's right to choose, wants Texas to lead renewable energy, etc

Oh goodness. I think I'll move if he was elected.
What he wants for energy is to help his buddy Willy Nelson out and help Willy Nelson's bio-diesel energy company out.
Of course, with his pro gay "marriage" and his anti-life perspective, I really think it would take billions of dollars in pay-offs to get him elected in Texas.
I do not want this moron in office. "May the God of Your choice Bless You", "He's not Kinky, He's My Govenor"...what the hell. These are his bumper stickers and t-shirts. Another reason he'd be the last person I voted for.

Its a 4 way election so it is quite possible that the conservative votes are split and a liberal sneaks in

Yeah, I like Kinky on a number of issues, but now that his social and energy stances have been pointed out to me, I'm not so sure. It is going to be a tough race, though.

She is the one I am voting for.
I'm not voting for Kinky. Rick Perry is a prick who would have been booted out last time, and was only elected as the lesser of two evils.
So this time around, I'm voting for "Grandma".

Oh, so she's the one knicknamed "Grandma." Okay. She seems like a fine choice. Your first vote, Puck?

Yup! I'll be 18 in October, so can vote for the first time in November . And yes, she is definately my first choice. I am kind of worried about someone who was so insistent about being put on the ballot as Grandma...but she's better than everyone else.

We always have liberal people run...it is just more rare that we elect them though (except in liberal cities like Dallas, or border cities).

He's not a liberal, though. He's a pretty independent, moderate guy, from what I've heard.

Unfortunately though it looks like the Incumbent will win. The anti-perry votes have been split 3 ways fairly evenly.
New poll today
Quote: | An Opinion Analysts Inc. poll finds Gov. Rick Perry (R) with a strong lead in the Texas gubernatorial race. Perry, with 41%, beats out Carole Keeton Strayhorn (I) at 14%, former Rep. Chris Bell (D) at 13%, and entertainer Kinky Friedman (I) at 13%. |

A %100 on Video Games, and Junk Food
