Alterations To The Borg

Two questions here (from a passive fan who doesn't know much, so forgive me)...
First off, Are the borg really that scary to you? Personally I don't see them as scary. They're intelligent, and the way they don't attack if they don't consider you a threat is very cool and original. But nothing about them I find very intimidating. Aside from the fact Voyager turned them from Starfleets greatest enemy into the every-other-week badguy. Personally, I think the fear/distinct-consideration Starfleet has for them is misplaced or exaggurated. I don't know...

Second question:
Making them more horrific. I had plenty of ideas, and I want to test them on you true Trekkies to see what you think, something tells me theres something about the way they are now that stops fans complaining, so, we'll see...
The Drones: Certain levels of intelligence/independence given to certain units. Creating, if you will, a command structure, which I think may go against the 'perfect hive mind' concept, so even I have doubts about that one. I was just thinking of a scene in which maybe three borg units, one leading, enter a starfleet readyroom where the starring captain is sitting. And they, for whatever reason, need some information from this captain. Can you imagine how intimidating it would be for a borg drone to slam all that techno-crap on his arm into a computer, then glaring menacingly at the captain. 'Leader' drones, with thugs, might add a little attitude to the borg, but is it one Trekkies would like, is what I'm asking.
Another point, if I could make an alteration to the borg from a producer/director stance, is to have them be less humanoid. Obviously leave a few bipedal's running around, but maybe some more beast-like races would be nice, add some variety and prove they really will seive through everything to achieve perfection.

The Queen: Isn't there some sort of dispute as to the queen's whereabouts? Considering First Contact and then Endgame. I'm not sure, but isn't it theorised there may be more than one? Anyway, thats besides the point. I was thinking, why does she have to have two legs, two arms and a head? Why humanoid? Why not something similar to Alien's queen. A hulking mass, with a shiveled rib-cage, a small boney face and skinny arms from mal-nutrition. Of course, with borg implants, and wires that set her up to the rest of the collective. Personally, that would scare me out of my skin. I'm thinking of drawing a concept of it, which I may post here for y'all to see, depends on what the reaction is.
Also, I think it would either add depth, or murder the Borg to say that in actuality, it was never about achieving perfection, but acquiring something for the Ultimate Queen to simply keep her alive. Maybe she just wanted to go through all the races in the universe to find the cure for some fatal, yet slow, illness or something.

These are two small idea's coming from a passive fan. What do the real Trekkies think?

Well, the borg never became an every-other-week badguy for starfleet, just voyager.

But thats irrelevant of course.

First answer: yes, i think the borg are scary since they assimilate and conquer like nothing ever seen. Its an Collective mind so they have no conscience, just the urge too find perfection by enslaving civilizations and destroy anyone who opposes them.

more answers to the rest of the questions: Drones don't have a personality, thats the whole working way of the borg. The drones are slaves, so they can't have a personality. Giving out ranks is Futile, they only seek too assimilate so the only thing they have to do is walk up too individuals and inject them with nanoprobes, they don't deploy tactics or strategies, its always the same as they don't have anything to work with, only the collective mind of the borg in their heads. Their only purpose is to find perfection, not to lead nor rule.

I do like the idea of having non-humanoids would be nice to see in Borg drones, species 8472 would be an excellent example. lets hope in the next movie that has borg in them we will see Species 8472 as drones.

The borg queens abilities and existance has always been in question, nobody knows what she really is. But its known that she is used as a vessel to talk to species like Locutus. Most species in the galaxy are Humanoid, so it is logical that she is humanoid as well.

As long as the essence of the borg isn't comprimised i wouldn't mind seeing a little explanation about the Borg and Borg queens actual goals. Its obvious from several episodes of VOY and TNG that the queen isn't only out for perfection, she shows interest in Individuality as she was interested in data, Picard and Seven of nine and their halt in attacking the Federation after First Contact is also questionable.
