I like someone's idea of a new ST series being kicked off with a movie.
There's only one problem. I think, that some actors need the time to work on their characters. I'd hate to see some bad acting in that movie.
I can remember how it seemed like Gates McFadden (Dr. Crusher) needed more work with her acting in the beginning, IMO. I think, she was much better after the first season. Maybe, she had a few acting lessons... I don't know.
Also, what can the story-line be for the next ST crew? Like, Voyager's was surviving without losing their humanity doing it, and getting back to the Alpha Quadrant... DS9 was being a melting pot for all species to meet and/or do commerce, and to keep strategic control at the worm hole... TNG and TOS was exploring where no one has before, 'Enterprise' was getting a fledgling space program into deep space, and to also explore.

I really don't think we need another series that has to do with exploring. Maybe, one that has to do with an invasion into the Alpha Quadrant, where Humans, Klingons, Romulans, Vulcans, Ferengi, etc. become a tight knit alliance against the invaders from the Delta Quadrant, or Gamma Quandrant, or fluidic space, or alternate universe, or all of them.

This just came to me...

Either I heard it somewhere, or read it, I don't know...

But, what about a series that operates from the view point of the Klingon Empire, while focusing on their lives and what happens on a specific Klingon Bird of Prey.
Never know... we might even learn a little Klingon.

Sorry, but I don't think I'd be interested in that...I mean, you could propose a series for the Ferengi or for the Romulans...or for any other race......besides, I HAVE learned a little Klingon ! Kaplach !

I'd rather stick to exploration, or perhaps a Starfleet Academy approach...OR a Star Trek: Titan series.....something like that, that moves the franchise toward the future...and NOT the past.....

BTW, I don't really care what the actual movie itself is about, as long as I get to know how the crew of Voyager is doing since they returned from the DQ.

Cathexis? I think you mean more along the lines of "Q'Pla!"

Abrams Confirms 'Star Trek' Movie
Mission: Impossible III director JJ Abrams has confirmed he's set to save the Star Trek franchise after signing on to produce the next film in the sci-fi series. The 40-year-old Lost and Alias creator, who is a longtime fan of the cult TV show and subsequent movies, is considering directing the new Trek movie too. In an exclusive interview with America's TV Guide magazine, Abrams says, "It's sort of surreal but wonderful. I'm producing and may direct. I have every DVD of every Star Trek episode from every series. I haven't seen every episode from every series but I certainly know it well enough to be working on the movie." Abrams, who will team up with fellow Star Trek buff and Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof on the new project, initially fumed when his involvement in the new film was announced before he'd committed to it. He admits he took his time to sign up for the project: "There have been 10 films and all these different (TV) series, so it was a question of finding out what they (movie executives at Paramount) were anticipating." Abrams insists the cult following Lost has found will help him make decisions about where to take the secret storyline for the latest Star Trek film. He explains, "Fans of Lost don't compare to fans of Star Trek, but working on Lost gives us a view into how important it is to respect the fans."

Um... So, he has all the dvd's, yet has not watched them, but knows it well enough to make a movie? Apparently not if your idea is a Kirk/Spock movie in the academy....

While I'm happy to see a new movie, I hate, and absolutely HATE, what he plans on doing...which is a Kirk/Spock movie. Give it a rest, eh? They've had six movies! Move on to something else. Give the DS9 crew, or the VOY crew, or the ENT crew, or someone else, a chance to shine, dammit!

The man's stuck in the past. Not many of the fans nowadays want to see a TOS movie, anymore. Better ST shows have come along that are crying for a film. However, in the TV Guide, which I bought yesterday because of the cover, Abrams himself said that he never got into DS9, VOY, or ENT, so, I'm not expecting anything great out of this guy. I don't like any of his shows and M:I III was decent...so...All that I can hope is that this isn't another ST: V.

This totally sucks. Whoever's idea this was, needs to be shot and buried. They're getting EXTREMELY retarded with this now! I mean, it doesn't really bother MUCH that they're not continuing on after the "Nemesis" timeline, but what bothers me is that they're going to the Academy days of two loved characters...It's stupid...

Because, we all know how funny Kirk talked on the show, right? (This is the actor's side of things I'm looking at now...) I believe, that as an actor, Shatner made Kirk talk like that for a REASON! That Kirk for some reason or another, talked like that...

But instead, we're now going to get some stupid retarded young idiot that's not going to give a whoopin-hollar about that. He's just gonna do it because "That's what I remember William Shatner doing on the show!" Therefore getting rid of the entire purpose that Shatner had for allowing his character to talk like that...

I dunno, but it's just stupid...from an actors point of view, it's stupid to go into the younger days of two already WELL established characters...

I posted this in the topic of the first official poster for the new movie...Just thought I'd put it here as well, since it makes a little more sense here with the line of dialogue from La Forge...But anyways...moving on...

From MA, on the Starfleet Academy section....

Quote:
One of the possible storylines for the movie Star Trek XI would involve James T. Kirk and Spock in their Academy days. (This storyline has since been denied by producer J.J. Abrams.)

Well,... yeah of course, but being as how HE is working on the project, and it's HIS decision.... If he denies it and thats still the plot, that lie right there will cost him.

I agree with Voyager2004. While we may have dodged a bullet with the Academy idea, however, the movie is still set in the TOS-era.

Yeah... That Era is not really Boring Per Se. From My Point of view, simply, it's hard to look past the "60's" look. Ya know, the ship being spartan, the walls looking bare and metal and smooth etc...

Look at the DS9/ENT episodes. With current technology avail today, the Enterprise looked bad ass. The Defiant's weapons were just AMAZING (And were the TOS ones!) with current special effects.

I'll still give it a chance.

I'll give it a chance and see it, definitely. However, if it involves Kirk or Spock in any way, I'll go into the show expecting to see a ST V. At the moment, I'm only expecting a Generations.

I thought Janeway more or less did away with the borg in Endgame?

Here's what I want...

Star Trek Omega - "Continuum"
Admiral Picard sends Captain William Riker and Commander Thomas Eugene Paris on a mission whose success has unknowingly caused serious repercussions on an event occurring within the Q Continuum, and in conjunction with all the past temporal damage done by al the Trek crews over time, brings about a Quantum Quake, leaving behind a force that begins to undo all existence. Anything and everything including the Continuum is in jeopardy, as the "big-bang" is being undone, and Time unravels and ALL the Trek crews, from Enterprise to Voyager, from Zephram Cochrane to Daniels from the 31st Century Federation, The Klingons, The Romulans, Tholians, Gorn, Vulcans, Ferengi, Hirogen, Xindi, Orions, Krennim, Dominion and the Borg must come together with the help of the Q Continuum, to stop the catastrophe before all the multiverse, indeed all existence (the Continuum included) is negated.

When the Borg lose their queen they search a new one who gets the same mind. O and if Janeway killed them all then why is the Borg still there in the Legacy game...

Because Games are NOT canon to the Star Trek Timeline. That's why. Not to mention that make great villains. But games are NOT canon...

But she didnt do away with just the queen. Adm. Janeway infected the hive with an anti-borg (if you will) cyber-pathogen which propgated through the entire collective when the queen assimilated her.

Well then how could they survive the attack of Picard and not a simple virus made by a docter. Well then? I think that a part has been infected, but a greater part hasnt. The main part where the queen was had been infected, but the rest of them just did what they always did, search a new queen, find it, and go further conquering. O and this.

The virus apparently has deleterious effects and makes the Queen fall to pieces. The virus quickly spreads throughout the collective, has similarly disastrous effects, and causes the Unicomplex to explode, killing billions of Borg

It doesn't say ALL borg, it says billions what means that there are some in live they start again and they begin the new collective. They go back to where they was, end of goodbye theorie.

It clearly says "spreads throughout the collective." (not to mention they say it in the show, as well) Meaning ALL the Borg since they're ALL part of the collective. So technically, yes, they should ALL have been destroyed.

That don't really mean that the Borg are all destroyed, as people should know if they didnt say "The borg were all 100% destroyed" in trek, you shouldnt assume it

Well, according to what was stated in the episode, that's what should have happened. Although I'm sure that in the next series (or whatever) they'll bring them up again. They're just too good to pass up, apparently (based on the number of times VOY used them).
