Selena swiftly exited the Atlantis Cafe, after paying her tab and paying her respects to the two officers who were seated at one of the tables in the cafe, entering the adjoining corridor.

The young doctor continued on down the bustling corridor for several minutes, in no clear direction, brushing past the many others, all of different ethnicities, each with their own unique look, different clothing, different hair styles, ectetera.

As Selena re-read a passage from "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" as she walked, the Canadian woman happened to bump right into a middle-aged Hispanic man who happened to be traversing the corridor, just as she was. In the confusion, Selena dropped her book to the floor and losing her footing, falling onto her bum.

The Hispanic man looked down at Selena, with a sly smile on his face, while Selena wore a look of embarassment. The Hispanic man outstretched a hand, to help the fallen woman up. Selena graciously accepted the man's offer of help, picking up her book as she did so.

When she was standing on her own two feet, again, Selena put her book underneath her arm, to ensure that she wouldn't drop it, again and straightened her uniform, once more, seeing as she had ruffled it up in the fall.

"Reloj donde usted va, falta!" the Hispanic man scolded Selena, in Spanish. Luckily, Selena, who was fluent in many different language, could understand what he had said.

"Perdneme. No prestaba la atencin a cul estaba delante de m." Selena replied, in Spanish, just as fluently as the Hispanic man, with an accent to match.

"No se preocupe de l. Reloj justo donde usted va, la vez prxima." the Hispanic man replied, with a toothy grin, apparently suprised by the fact that the woman had understood and spoke his language.

"Bien. Tenga un buen da, seor." Selena replied, smiling, as well.

"Usted tambin, falta." the Hispanic man said, at length, before departing.

Selena watched the man walk away, down the corridor, before she fixed her hair, making sure that it was in place, before she continued back on down the corridor, making sure to keep her eyes in front of her, to avoid another accident such as the one that she had just encountered.

To be truthful, Selena was a very proud, intelligent woman, and beautiful woman with a strong sense of honor and duty. However, despite all of those traits, the young doctor was also quite clumsy.

James was glad to see a smile on his friend's face as he reassured her that they would get over it together. How he could have allowed a loss of contact with her, to this extent, was beyond him. As the doctor walked by an nodded, he nodded back, smiling slightly.
A waitress then appeared, inquiring, politely, "Are you ready to order?"
James pulled his hands back, though not quickly, and looked up at the woman. He had know idea why they would send someone knew, but found the woman, a beautiful young lady, far more appealing. "I am," he said, with a smile. "I'll have a good 'ol fashioned cheeseburger. Ketchup and mustard only, please."
The waitress wrote the order down and looked at Chapman. "And for you?"

Kay looked up to the waiter, the smile beaming up toward him. She glanced back down toward the menu, trying to make her decision quickly. She hadn't thought of eating at all, but as she caught James warm, confident visage from the corner of her eyes, she chose a light dish. "I'll have a chicken caesar salad, if you'd be so kind." On that note, she picked up both menus and offered them to their host, who took them and swept away obediently to have the orders placed with the chef.

Kiyraesyn reflected for a moment on the memory of seeing the Star Voyager's CMO in the Caf and realizing that she had been rude not to say hello at the very least. She suddenly felt guilt about this and pointed it out to James. "James....I'm afraid we've committed a terrible act...we completely disregarded one of our own officers ! Selena Redwall, your CMO, was just here a moment ago. I feel dreadful for not having invited her to lunch with us. You don't want to appear cold and distant, do you ?"

The ambiance within the Caf was light and pleasant, something Kiyraesyn need quite desperately after the stress of emotional trauma and other such devestating factors. She longed to get underway as soon as possible and was thinking about the mission excitedly. What would they find once they ventured out into deep space, without the protection of Earth...away from the familiar...away from home. Just then, she came to the realization that she had no real home now, having lost so many of her relatives...not only her husband was gone, but her mother. The two people in her life for whom she cared the most were gone, she would never see them again. Chapman tilted her head, resting it upon her clasped hands, reminiscing in her mind of Luke. She knew that she would soon need to have her name changed back to Delancie, a sign that she'd moved on; but the truth was...she hadn't really moved on.

She missed him still, and feared she always would. His love for her had been a true love, her escape...he had a gift for laughter and making her smile, even in the midst of some of the most painful tears she had ever shed in her entire existence. How would she ever move forward, beyond the grief? She gazed into the warm, dark eyes of James Wesley Azzar and every thought of sadness began to melt quickly away. She had always been close to this man, this guardian who had brought her the grim news of Luke's death. She resolved to take James to the burial site as soon as they returned to Earth.

James himself began to reminise, thinking about the days years ago when he and Luke first met, in High School, on to his college years and military service. They were close, him and Luke, and during that fateful day when those terrorist thugs killed Luke and injured James, Azzar could not conjure up a single emotion beyond anger and frustration. All he wanted to do was see those bastards die, and he eventually got his wish.
Though they had become somewhat estranged after both entering military service in different areas, he and Chapman were remained close friends up to that fateful day, the day he brought the news of his friend's death to Kiyraesyn. That terrible, terrible day which threatened his very existence.
James looked at his friend, unkowingly. He had not realized that the woman who had walked by was his ship's doctor. "I haven't had the chance to look at the complete manifest yet," he replied. "I didn't realize that that was the ship's doctor..."

After continuing on down the hallway for about five minutes or so, after her run-in with the Hispanic man, earlier, Selena, who was nearing her temporary quarters on Atlantis Station, to take a nap before the commencement ceremony, had realized that she had left her reading glasses back on her table back in the cafe.

While Selena could read without her glasses, as she was doing earlier, when she bumped into the Hispanic man, she had to squint to do so. She much preferred to use her glasses. And, seeing as Selena was what you would call a book-worm, her reading glasses were quite important to her. She found it quite hard to read without them.

So, without a second thought, Selena spun on her heel and began to make her way back to the Atlantis Cafe, to pick up her glasses, which she hoped were still where she had left them--on her table, in the Atlantis Cafe. While she didn't expect anyone to steal her glasses, something of which she had little idea someone would steal, there was always a possibility...a very, very slight one. Plus, she would feel better once she had her glasses back. It was almost as if a part of her was missing.

Selena quickly made her way down the corridor, retracing her steps, back to the Atlantis Cafe, careful to avoid another accident, like the one, earlier, with her eyes focused on the path before her. Not before long, Selena had made her way back to the Atlantis Cafe.

Selena entered the Cafe, for the second time that day, in search of her glasses. She nodded to the new waitress--a young woman, who had replaced the waiter that had served Selena when she was in the Cafe, some twenty minutes ago.

Selena made her way to the table that she had sat at, earlier, hoping that her glasses were still where she had left them. Much to her relief, Selena found her reading glasses just where she had left them--on the surface of the table. The young woman snatched up her glasses and tried them on, to verify that they were, in fact, her own glasses, not someone else's, who, by chance, may have left their glasses on the same exact table that Selena had sat at previously.

After quickly trying on the glasses, Selena found that they were really hers. With a sigh of relief, Selena hastily placed her glasses in the pocket of her teal overcoat, for safe-keeping, to ensure that she wouldn't lose them, again.

Selena quickly smoothed out her uniform before she spun about on her heel, to leave the Cafe. However, on her way out, Selena had noticed that the two high-ranking military officers, Azzar and Chapman, were still seated at the Cafe table that they had occupied earlier.

Deciding that it would only be polite to greet them, this time, Selena approached the two officers.

"Hello, Commanders." Selena began, acknowleding their ranks. "I'm sorry that I forgot to introduce myself earlier. I'm Selena Redwall, the soon-to-be Chief Medical Officer on the Star Voyager." Selena introduced herself, with a polite smile. "No need to introduce yourselves. I already know who you are." Selena added. "Commander James Azzar-" Selena nodded to the Commander. "-and Lieutenant Commander Kiyraesyn Chapman." Selena nodded to the other. "It's a pleasure to finally be able to meet the both of you."

Azzar arose from his chair upon the greeting, reaching out his hand for her to grab. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Doctor," he said with a pleasant smile. "I've read over your file. I couldn't think of anyone more qualified for this position than you."

Selena smiled, warmly, before she took the Commander's outstretched hand and shook it, firmly, in greetings.

"Thank you, Commander." Selena replied, politely, thanking the man for the compliment. "I've read your record, as well, Commander. You are the best of the best. If anyone should lead this mission, it should be you, sir."

"Thanks for the kind words, Doctor," James said, kindly. "I hope I can live up to such expectations. This opportunity presented before me is overwhelming at times. I'm overjoyed that I could lead in such a pioneering movement."
The Commander then sat back down and looked to the Lieutenant Commander for anything she might wish to say.

Kiyraesyn beamed warmly as she stood to outstretch a welcoming hand to the attractive young medical officer. "It's a pleasure to have you onboard with us, Doctor. I have no doubt that you will be a fine asset to the crew, as well as to the journey. Welcome."
