Well, it's a good thing they have our permission, then,

It is. I would do it. I think Israel's entirely justified in doing what they're doing.

My point was that they don't really need permission. Did we need Israel's permission to invade Iraq?

U.N.: Israeli airstrike hits U.N. observer post

BEIRUT, Lebanon (CNN) -- An Israeli airstrike hit a United Nations post in southern Lebanon late Tuesday, killing at least two of the agency's observers, according to the U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon.

The U.N. initially reported that four peacekeepers were dead, but later said there were two dead and two missing.

Oh, no, I see what you're saying. I think the US just wants to try to limit a crisis that the rest of the world doesn't even think should be going on, for the most part. But yeah, I think Israel has full rights to take as long as it thinks it needs.

U.N. observers' deaths fuel diplomatic firestorm

BEIRUT, Lebanon (CNN) -- A diplomatic furor erupted Wednesday after four U.N. observers died in southern Lebanon in what the U.N. secretary-general said was an "apparently deliberate" Israeli airstrike.

Yeah, Kofi Annan? Idiot. What he said was rather rash, don't you think? I mean, what good would it do for Israel to deliberately attack a UN post? It's just ridiculous.

The following is just sick.

Hezbollah and the U.N.
By Michelle Malkin July 26, 2006 02:38 PM

A picture worth a thousand words:

Jed Babbin explains: "The U.N.'s years-long record on the Israel-Lebanon border makes mockery of the term "peacekeeping." On page 155 of my book, "Inside the Asylum," is a picture of a U.N. outpost on that border. The U.N. flag and the Hezbollah flag fly side by side. Observers told me the U.N. and Hezbollah personnel share water and telephones, and that the U.N. presence serves as a shield against Israeli strikes against the terrorists."

Good. Got some updates for you all. Hezbollah's using a new weapon now, and Bush and Blair had a joint news conference this morning.

Does anyone know how long this will last?

What do both sides want?

Israel wants to stop its citizens from being pelted daily by terrorists. It wants to stop the threats posed against it. Every time it stops it's hit harder, and it doesn't want that anymore.
The terrorists (Hezbollah), on the other hand, want only one thing: the destruction of Israel, which is why a cease fire is impossible. They, like the Palestinians, have been given plenty of things ("land for peace" concept), but nothing has gotten them anywhere. It is quite clear that all Hezbollah and Hamas want is the destruction of Israel, and nothing less.

I am just going on a headline I glanced over, but Israel said they would stop when an international peace keeping force was in place. If they mean a UN peace keeping force then .

I don't get how these world leaders can think that there can actually be a cease fire. It's just not possible. Not when you're fighting against a terrorist organization.

Saudi religious leader blasts Hizbullah

A top Saudi Sunni cleric, whose ideas inspired Osama bin Laden, issued a religious edict Saturday disavowing the Shi'ite guerrilla group Hizbullah, evidence that a rift remained among Muslims over the fighting in Lebanon.
Hizbullah, which translates as "the party of God," is actually "the party of the devil," said Sheik Safar al-Hawali, whose radical views made the al-Qaida leader one of his followers in the past.

That above is merely religious differences between Sunnis and Shi'ites. If it were a Sunni organization carrying out these attacks, you probably wouldn't have this same thing happening.

Don't they realize how dumb this is and how little it will do? My goodness. There's involvement in something that really needs to go on but not involvement in something that really needs to be stopped (like, Iran). What's this world coming too?

I thought it was like this:

Hezbollah wants to control Israel and thought it would be as easy as that, it was way harder then they thought.

Israel doesn't want to be run over with, under the stress of the civil wars they immediately try to solve this problem so Israelians would be safer, instead they killed innocent people and a few Hezbollah in Libanon. This caused a major walk over from the people of Libanon to Hezbollah.
