What about a Star Trek: CSI like show...
It doesn't have to be affiliated with the current CSI shows, but what about a CSI like show? That would be cool. See the forensics of the future, late 24th century...or maybe even the EARLY 25th century...
What are your ideas? Tell me which answer you chose, and why you chose it...Thanks!

I'm sorry. I'm a bit pre-occupied. While it MIGHT work...it's just not Trek. It would be weird.

It'd be pretty hard, a Tricorder scan would ID the fingerprints etc...

It's cool. I just like knowing what others think...
I think it could work...but it would be touchy writing...
And ya, while the tricorder would identify the fingerprints, it would obviously be more complicated than that...that's partly why it would be touchy writing...

Yes, it's a good idea.
The only problem is that there is not so much crime in the Federation. Maybe if the future Horatio Caine and his crew were stationed on some outpost like DS9 where a lot of different species meet and trade.
Personally I like all three CSI series and NCIS as well!

Ah, see, there may not be much crime in the Federation, but there is crime. They don't have to do work JUST within the Federation. There could be an incident on this planet one week, and that station the next week and such.
Pretty much "Species A" attacks "Species B" on "Federation Outpost C" and then the team goes to resolve it. As long as it happened on a Federation/Starfleet outpost the team would go and solve the mystery.
We could explore the deeper darker regions of Federation space, or the dark outskirts of Federation space. It would also open up a "darker" side of the 24th/25th century. To show that while everything we've seen is all nice and "hunky-dory," that there is crime and is dealt with...

Didn't that happen on loads of episodes of trek anyway?

But this would go deeper into specifics...more of the forensics of how it happened...what we saw on the shows, yes was KIND of like this, but we would see different technolog; how different species would try to counter Federation technology; Many different twists; and a darker side of the future...
There would be alot more technicalities with this show and solving the crimes than there was in the shows.

I think it would be hard to pull off but if done right it could be interesting. As far as the tricorders go you have to think that with advances in technology in catching the individual comes technology in hiding what you've done....

Ya, that's what I said above...
Because we have ways of detecting certain things now, but those that commit crimes overcome that...for a time at least. The same thing would OBVIOUSLY be in effect in the future...one would "overcome" the technology with which to catch them...

You want to leave Star Trek as it is, yet you want them to go back in time and show us "more" of the history of the Federation? That makes no sense and contradicts your statements in other topics...

I feel sorry for you, I want star trek the way it is because i cant stand CSI and its crime investigations because they are full of gore and violence.Star trek dont have a fraction of the violence CSI does and you know something else, star trek is more "decent" thats why i say i like star trek the way it is.And yes i like the idea of a remake of star trek in the past and all the topics i made, and i also like the future, when they decide to make a series or movie of the future im all for it too.So before you start judging things you dont understand you better stop and listen to the whole story, im sorry you dont like what opinion i have, thats to bad, learn to live with it.

No, I feel sorry for you. Forgive me, but you need to check your attitude...I was making NOTHING more than an observation in my last post. And you're trying to turn it around on me...but if that's how you want to interpret it, then go ahead. I've done nothing more than try to find out what you're thinking and understand your point of view, but you turn it around on me trying to accuse me of talking down to you and your opinions.
I happen to like CSI and wouldn't mind seeing the darker side of Trek. It's a worth-wild side to explore. And it's not even necessarily the darker side of the Federation that we would see all the time, more like the darker side of other species. Species we might not have seen before...species we have seen before, and then of course we'll have some episodes now and again that show us the dark side of the Federation...

Why would it be awesome? What is your opinion about it...why would you want to see it? I've given my reasons why and stuff, but I want to know everybody's likes and dislikes about the idea...please enlighten me...

Voyager2004? I do like this idea. What is going on!? We're agreeing so much lately!?
The only thing is, I don't think this should be...a show on it's own at first. Star Trek is in such a fragile state now. They should make a show with the normal parameters and THEN this idea.
Kind of like DS9 and VOY running simultaneously.

Yeah.... It'd get boring if it was all murders though. Sorry, but in the federation, Murder is supposed to be rare. Maybe crimes.... though, IDK, a series basied on investigating crimes?

Haha...this is so true...who'd have thought it, huh? I figured you would like this idea, because it deals with a darker side to the future.

I would have to agree...Trek is in an unfortunate state of fragility at the moment. So if they did launch this idea without another show running before it, it would, as I've been saying, be touchy writing...

Well, CSI is mostly murders...and yes, in the Federation murder is rare, but what about the other, more primitive but warp capable species? There wouldn't be one set location either. So that would add constant variety to the show.
But ya, I do see both points presented. The state of fragility of Trek, and constant murders...so again, (I feel so redundant...lol) It would be touchy and creative writing. A few more risks than the average Trek show...

I think it would be predictable, since both CSI and Star Trek already are. The even-more-predictable-nature would make it way too boring.

I don't think it would be boring at all, in fact it is science. It would be interesting to see something like it. Forensics and Trek sounds cool to me cause I love CSI and Trek.

^^^That's like saying "The police handle Forensics in today's society."
That's wrong. Scientists do it...and if they're not scientists, then they're pretty close...lol.
