I think I can give blood. But since I've never done it before I'd probably have to jump through a few rings before they let me (just to make sure my blood is ok and such)

I'll probably look into it when I get home, and if it is doable for me I will probably donate

You can donate blood here, no matter what. Even if you have AIDS, HIV, etc. After they draw your blood, they have you go into a room with two stickers, each having a bar code. One means you know your blood is okay, and one means that they can't use it. So after you choose, you go back out, give the person the correct sticker, and they place it on the bag of blood. So, nobody knows except you, and whoever scans the sticker. But of course, you give it anonymously, so that person doesn't even know your name.

At least thats how its done here in NY.

In a few months I will be able to give blood on my own, and I probably will. Couldn't hurt, and it could end up saving someones life, so why not. I hate needles, but will learn to get over that .

I give blood every year. I get an invitation from the Red Cross and I always go. They take three tubes of blood from you but you do get things in return Like coffee or tea and a small gift.

I've given blood once. I will give again though. My card and information has disappeared in the post though, so I phoned them up and they're sending it again. You have to be 17 here.

I haven't given blood in years. When I do, they give me that tube to squeeze with my hand. After a few seconds they see how fast the bag is filling and they take it away.

Maybe the blood people should take blood from people with HIV and AIDs. They could use it to save the life of someone already living with HIv or AIDs, without causing them any real harm, and without using blood that everyone else might need.

We get badges, until you advance to a certain point (50 donations) and you get a silver Quake (a traditional bowl kind of thing for alchohol). You get a drink and biscuits after each donation.

I tried Giving blood twice even though I'm scared of needles and I of those horror stories of nurses pricking the needle in very wrong places of the arm. But even at my heaviest 103 lbs I never could make the weight.

Wow this is an old topic.

I gave blood last week for the first time. It wasn't a big deal doing it. I hate needles, but I didn't look, so... They did a quick iron test, and then asked a bunch of questions. It took me five minutes to fill the bag, I'll be doing it again.

Best part is LLBean paid me to do it,

I donated blood a couple of months back in school. It wasn't that bad and took under 10 minutes. The worst part is that they (The Red Cross) keep calling now. Ugh.

I give blood regularly. I like it when they give me that tube to squeeze. I must bleed quick, or something, because after about 30 seconds I have that bag half-full and they snatch the tube away.

i give blood every 3 months. i am in this commit for life program and i do the double red blood cell thing where you sit in the chair and they separate the blood. i was light headed at first, but it got better. you have to be 17 and weigh 110 pounds. if you do double red cell, you have to be 150 pounds though. they run tests and ask a bunch of questions first before they take the blood.
