Mon Jun 19, 2006 7:08 pm Love - Your definition |
|
For a while now i've been thinking about the definition of love, and i was wondering what you all would define as love.
My definition:
Love is something that happens when you least expect it, it creeps up on you and makes you its slave.
Love is an IM at 7am to find out if you slept well
love is understanding
love is reciprical
love is an action, a word and a thought
and love is unstoppable

Love is something that i cant describe, but i have felt it so strongly. its like beauty, u cant describe it but its there.
Love is like lookin into ur ( g/f, b/f, wife, husbands ) eyes, and knowing u have everything u want and need.
id do any thing for love. my true love back.
Best i can do, is wait, to be found in love again, wait for my Miracle, to be happy once again.

Love is being willing to die for someone, because despite whatever flaws they may have, you still could not stand to see them die.
Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. Perfect, unblemished, infinite love can only be found in the one true living God.

Love is seeing another person at their worst and accepting, even if you can't understand.
Love is being unspeakably angry, but to know you can stop to say 'I love you.'
Love is holding someone and looking at them while they sleep, content just because they're safe.
Love is submitting, surrendering your defense in trust that your other will take care of you.
Love is watching the most important person in your world cry, knowing that nothing on earth could cause you to leave them when they need you.
Love is putting it all on the line, risking everything in your life, and refusing to ever give it up, no matter what someone else says.
Love is my reason for living.

Love....
For me, love is something that no one is compete with out. It's a special feeling, that no other could even begin to come close to being like. It does hurt at times, but that's what it involves, some might even say that's what it is.
Love is...
Looking foward to that special someone getting home/online.
Missing that special someone
Love is passion. It can be for anything really, whether it's for a person, an animal, music, what ever it is you have a passion for. It's hard to define it really, for me it includes friends, not just "one" person, or "just" family.
As mentioned above, it is the reason for living.
Love is knowing that you are safe, when you lower your guard.
Love is, when you fall asleep, and you wake up and He/She is still there the next morning.

Love is:
Kind, patient, sweet, unconditional, accept someone as they are, to die for someone if their life is in danger and God is love.

Love is sleeping next to your sweetheart's picture when he/she is away.
Love is missing that special someone every day, every hour, every minute
Love is cheerful
Love can hurt at times, but you always know that's there's a happy ending to it
Love is not caring about how the person/animal appears
Love is making that special someone feel better when they are down

Yall gotta agree though,
Love is some thing we cant fully Describe, its shown, and felt, but its hard to descibe, ( some one please side with me, lol )
Love is alot of things, but its hard to describe.
Love is the only thing that alot of people think, that its the hardest thing to Describe, cause there is no exact way of describing it. Hence, its Hard to describe, ( i hope i didnt make an idiot of myself , lol )

Love is a waste of time and a pain in the ass.
Love is suffering(in more ways than one).
Love is simply not desireable.

Love is being happy and satisfied with someone when they aren't around. Love is when you know you need someone with you or you wouldn't be complete. Its when you want to let someone free but you can't because you know in your heart that doing so would destroy you. And mostly, love is that feeling in your chest that rips you appart and makes you feel like a hollow shell.

Love is something I don't understand.
Love is something I often find annoying.
Love is something that I should probably forget about...
...but why is it I keep running back for more?

That needs an amendment:
Love is something I don't need to understand. It is enough just to feel it.
Love is something that, while often annoying, Can also give you a reason to get up in the morning.
Love is something that I should have realized I've never really felt before.
Why did I keep running back for more? In the hopes of finding bliss.

Love is like a kick in the gut. You can't breathe, but before you can figure out what's going on, it's gone.
It's not fair that it hurts so much but that you want it so badly.
It makes you so blind that you can't see the love you already have because you want more.
People are predisposed to love.

Exactly. I was going to post this quote from the Bible. 1 Corinthians 13:4.
That is what love is to me. For all the argument over the validity of the Bible and the mistranslations of it as well, who can argue against the truth of this passage but perhaps an atheist ?
I also believe in these statements, the first of which is an excerpt from a poem I wrote called "Age of the Black Souls":
Katharyn R. King wrote: | Love, true love, is such a phenomenon that it exists entirely without condition. |
The second is from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream:
Shakespeare wrote: | Love looks not with the eyes but with the mind, therefore is wingd Cupid painted blind.-Helena |
Love always seems to find us when we least expect it, and yet we have the uncanny ability to recognize it when it comes, no matter how shook we are by its paradoxal nature.

I don't know what love is, and I don't care. It would most likely just ruin my life.

Love is...hmmm... Well I wouldn't know. But I do know that It is impossible for me to love someone in a romantic way. For me, if you've managed to sneak past all my death traps(which there are many) you may or may not be dissapointed to realize that for me there's no sutch thing as being romanticlly involved with someone. That's usually a lotta crap and always ends badly. For me, if you can somehow manage to survive, Love means I'm happy to be with you and will probably kill for you. There is only one person in the universe who I could love, and that's my self-claimed "sisster" Jenny. My other, much more functionall half. Now that that's said, who needs some advice on how to get back at the lossers they wasted their time on? Or how about "Ragady's Ideat's guide to getting rid of a stalker?" Or the latest for all the other nerds on this site,
"Ragady's How To Tell When You're Stalking The Wrong Person?"

^ Kind of following that, I created a species in which the definition of true love/soulmate is directly translated as "One I cannot kill." This is a very... basic theory of love.
