Would you? Cause Charlie got some good news! He just got a phone call from Hinesville, City Police wanting him to come in first thing Monday at 3 pm for the job offer. Since the army is med boarding him out cause of that tumor behind his left eye. which is shrunk with the radiation treatment he had.
He always wanted to be a cop. I am sorry if this may not be here probably gonna say put this in Charlie's TIM! but I am just so excited I just couldn't wait to let STV know...
He is fullfilling his dream and I know I couldn't be no cop. But, while we on the subject though would you ever want to be a cop? I did when I was little but, that change cause I wanted to be something else.

Two of my uncles are cops, but they are about to be retired. As for myself, I think that I could be a cop. I certainly have no doubts about my ability to do the job. However, the questions of do I want to be a cop, or do I think I was meant to be one? I would have to say no to those.
Congratulations for Charlie by the way!

I've been a cop for about a year in holland... But it's not for me....
I love to be around people and stuff and help them that's why i joined the force but it takes a great deal of your mind... Accidents and stuff you see.
And in holland if you must use your gun and you make your report and it's slightly different than what you're college writes your screwed big time.
So i quit. But if you can handle those things in a good way the force is a really good place to work.
Respect to those who can!

That's wonderful news! I highly respect police officers, however, I don't particularly want to be one. I'd much prefer a cushy job in an air-conditioned office

Maybe but I don't like dealing with people. Traffic cop no way. Maybe a crime scene detective or forensic work, though.

I know, I agree with you. He is going to work up first cause Hinesville, we don't have murders here. Maybe once in a blue moon. Cause it is such a small town and they don't have the resources to the forensics work. But, we are planning in two years moving to a bigger city that has the resource and finiances . He is starting out just a regular cop. He wants police experence first. Then he is going to tech to study criminal law and stuff. Then he wants to do forensics. He still be a cop but do something more.
We have more bank robberies and store theft than anything in this small town. I really don't want to move into a big city where there is murder and lot more but if he wants to get into forensics , then we will have to.

I would NEVER want to be a cop. Mainly because I think they spend too much time concentrating on petty harmless crimes (like graffiti writers) and divert attention for real criminals.
I respect the police, but why is planting a tree classed as vandalism?!

No...Just....No.
Most cops I've encountered are unfriendly, pompous and arrogant *beep*, and I don't want to be associated with them.

If I didn't have my mind set on becoming a US Marine, I probably would become a cop.

My first option was cop since my uncle was a great police chief. But my real option is Army Cook.

Congrats to Charlie!
I've thought about being a cop several times. If not a cop, maybe something related like an investigator or something. But yeah... I think it'd be something I'd enjoy.

I, personally, am at the moment working for the Sheriff of my county. But I'm thinking of doing the Reserves as a mounted police officer cause I've been riding horses for 8+ Years and I want to do something over the summer.

Well the army is being slow about med boarding him out. It will be close to I believe first of July and the next police academy is in July. The next one is in October, the chief said he is hired, Charlie will have to run the radio til Oct. Then he will go to the police academy. I hope I am explaining it right/ He needs to come on here and explain it. He just been busy lately. He is trying to hurry them along to get him out of the army. Army is slow with paper work and they fast on everything else. grrr but at least he is hired on at the police department. He will make the same amount of money to run the radio til Oct. I can't wait for him lol. It is still good news I guess. They really want Charlie over the other guys and him , and some few guys. Only few got hired along with him. Charlie has military background and he did a military police job in the national guard before he joined back into the army few years ago. So he has police training. They wanted him and I think five others.

Naw, I appreciate their service, but it's to dangerous for me. I couldn't handle the pressures of the job. Plus the risk of being hurt over something trivial like a speeding ticket or what not is to great IMO. But I am glad some people take those risks.

Yeah, when I was younger I always wanted to be a cop. A friend of my mother's was a cop (a woman), and I think that was my example.
Before I wanted to do that, I did another education, but now I'm up to a point where I don't want to be a cop anymore. I think it's great work, and I admire those who do it, but it just isn't something for me. I think it's too dangerous (especially if you're a cop on the streets). I also like to provide more long-term care for people, not as short as the police do.

I would, but I won't.... my brther, who has been stupid enough to get caaught by the cops and spent a night in jail, now hates them and would definatly disown me if I ever did. So.... my family is more important than a job, I guess.

I only hate the crooked side of cops. I friend of a friend had his stash busted by the cops and 2 days later it was sold to the black market.
Some cops are real descent people, but some can be real bastards.
I also hate it when they try and ping you for the most minor of offences and take the law to the extreme.
