Kortal looked back at his readings.

"There are Zerg on the ship," He reported, "I'm detecting a nest..."

Sa'val slumped slightly. A nest... to dangerous to let it by. "Target the phasers to that vessels reactor core.." She sighed. "Any signs of un infected people?"

Kortal shook his head.

"No captain..." He replied.

He looked at the viewscreen and the ship had strange organic material growing all over it. It was becoming Zerg....

Sa'Val sighed. She turned to the view screen. "There's no choice....Kortal...fire."

Kortal pressed down on the button and the phasers tore apart the soft organic structure of the ship, destroying it.

"Done..." He replied.

Hatsumono nodded in agreement as Sa'Val gave the command and watched as the structure was destroyed.

Sa'val sighed. She hated having to give that order. "Was that ship in any known database?" She turned to Kortal to wait for the answer.

Hatsumono got up and crossed over to where Sa'Val was standing. She put a hand on her captain's shoulder and nodded reassuringly.

"YOu did what you had to do."

Kortal shook his head.

"No," He replied, "It was a freighter. Unimportant, but it did have a civilian crew complement of 345."

Hatsumono looked at Kortal.

"But our Captain did what she had to do." She watched Kortal, making sure that the hint was dropped hard enough. "There was no other choice but to take that course of action."

Sa'Val looked down to the floor and sighed again. She looked back up. "Any signs of where they came from? Any warp emision trails?"

Kortal had picked up the hint from Hatsumono and said no more on that subject.

"Yes," He replied, "Apparently they came from Alpha Centauri and we're heading towards Earth when the Zerg got them."

Sa'Val nodded. "Helm, set a course for Alpha Centuri, warp 6." Li nodded and enganged the warp engines. She spoke to Hatsumono and Kortal "Let's see if the Centurians can provide us with any answers..."

Hatsumono nodded to her captain and went back to her seat after nodding quickly to Kortal with a look that said 'good job taking the hint'.

"Captain, I'm not sure the Centurians will be able to provide answers, considering the attack probably happened out of their sector. But I am sure that perhaps we may at least find out who that freighter belonged to."

Sa'val smirked. "My thinking exactly. If they can provide us as to what the ship was, and who was on it, we can start placing the pieces of the puzzel together. I can't imagine what was important that the Zerg would not only attack the ship, but make a nest." Sa'Val sat down in her seat and squinted. She looked over to Hatsuono slightly, while also looking down. "345 civilians..."

Sa'Val nodded and sighed. "I know, Commander..." She smiled slightly to try and make it look like she was ok. "It's to bad that it happend so soon after leaving...." Sa'Val sighed. They left space dock a few hours ago. It would take about 4 days at their current speed to reach alpha centuri. They COULD go 6.5, that would knock a day off. Sa'Val wondered, if done right, well timed bursts of warp seven would also cut the journy down. They could add in bursts of warp 8, the maximum rated of the ship, but that would ultimately slow them down. Warp 7 would cut in in half, that was the max speed though, it would push the engines. "INcrease to 6.5" Li nodded and the ship rumbled as it increased to warp 6.5. Later she would have them do seven for a while, the ship should be able to handle it.

"Captain?" He asked, "Is it true Klingons are on Alpha Centauri?"

Sa'Val stood and looked at Kortal. She placed her hands behind her back and walked over. "I have heard that, yes..."

Hatsumono turned around and looked at Sa'Val and Kortal as they spoke together. She remained silent, simply content in watching the two.

"Then I shall seek them out," He replied, "With your permission of course."

Sa'Val nodded. "If there is time, certainly.." She looked to the viewscreen and sighed. Days of travle. Perhaps they will run into another ship, or even a colonly of some sort. It was what they were out here for though.

Eric rose from his seat, he had seen all he realy wanted to see. His purpose was better served in Engineering.
