I would LOVE to have command of my own starship! That would be TOTALLY awesome!!!
Too much pressure?! By the time you reach any type of rank to get your own vessel, you've already got so much experience and knowledge under your belt, it's not a matter of pressure any more.

If i was gonna command a starship, I would command the U.S.S Prometheus NX-59650.
It is a totally cool ship that can split in 3, the three parts can travel at warp, and they can all function as an independant vessel if the other 2 parts are destroyed.
It can also travel at warp 9.975 as a CRUISING speed.
The Prometheus is the best starship in the 24th century PERIOD

no, it clearly says in the episode that it's "designed to be the fastest in the fleet." And with that said, the computer states that its speed capability is "warp 9.9."
Voyager is the one ship capable of going warp 9.975

I woud love to command a starship, It would really matter which one because if you have your own starship you have total freedom.
Perhaps a borg cube for its transwarp capabilities.
Perhaps an akira because they look really cool.
The Prometheus would be great.
Meh like I said,
Any ship.

I only just read the reply to my message but Warp 9.975 is the CRUISING SPEED of the prometheus not the TOP SPEED. Voyager can go to 9.975 but usually cruises at warp 8.
See where i'm getting...

Well one's "cruising" speed is generally LOWER than the "TOP" speed. So, if the TOP speed of the Prometheus is only 9.9, then they can't really cruise faster than their maximum...can they? Nope.
And yes, Voyager may "cruise" around at warp 8, but I've also heard Trek refer to Voyager's "MAXIMUM" speed of 9.975 as their "CRUISING" speed. So, while it may be Voyager's maximum speed, it's also their cruising speed. They can cruise around in it for about 12 hours or so...
But clearly enough the Prometheus's own computer stated that it's own maximum speed is only 9.9. You can't cruise at a speed faster than that of your maximum.

Yes I would like to commandere my own starship. Like any captain---I know my ship. In fact, shields are the only thing holding my ship together.

A lot of people think that they would say yes, but really, if given the choice, would probably turn it down. It's a huge responsibility. Me, I'd prefer helmsman

I would love to command and Akira Class starship, command is not that much reponsability, your job is to issue orders and keep the crew from digenerateing into sobbing cowards hiding in the corner during combat. you talk with the heads of the departments and have final say on all issues, what would be tough is the helm position, 1000 buttons fully memorised and you have the lives of the crew in your hands, think about it, if the helmsman slips up in combat or in tricky manuver your all toast. and tactical is more then target and fire, it is a compex series of sensors and power readouts that need to be kept in balence to keep the weapons systems from going critical and destroying the ship, NO THANK YOU i would perfer the nice comphy chair in the center of the room quietly sipping Earl Grey and telling other people what to do. mabey getting to play diplomatic host in my dress uniform from time to time, Yes it is a captains life for me.

I would only command a starship with Temporal capabilities. Why? I have an affinity for migraines, and I'm slowly developing a verb tense for time travel while thinking up new possible plots in my story...
...personally...I would hate to be under someone else's command
