I don't believe that whatsoever. I haven't heard of it, and I know I would have, as my mom has been his biggest fan for the longest time--up until now, that is.

I don't really believe that either. Plus, why would it matter? If homosexuality truly made a difference as far as TV shows and movies, then shows like Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Brokeback Mountain, and Queer as Folk wouldn't have such high raitings nor as many viewers.

I also find it hard to comprehend why people care about movie star's personal lives or beliefs. There are people out there who are A LOT weirder than Tom Cruise, not to mention the fact that in these movies he's Ethan Hunt (or at least I think that that's the characters name) and not Tom Cruise. He wouldn't be an actor if all he do is play Tom Cruise.

I think that's an excellent point, IntrepidIsMe. I think it is important to distinguish between an actor and a character. I mean, we're all Trek fans here, would we stop watching a particular Trek series if one of the main actors suddenly started acting like a jerk? It's food for thought.
