Seven was quite a complex, almost tragic character!
Kess was so errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrm boring!

I'm going with Kes for two reasons:
1.) From a J/Cers point of veiw, Chakotay has lees chance of being brainwashed
2.) I liked her psychic abilities and the development of them

I hated kes before, but I've changed my mind and I actually like her now.
Seven is still way better thou. She's just much more intresting and funny then kes.

To my opinion seven was an important member of the crew and helped out tremendously, but ive always been a kes fan myself so i will go with kes, i didnt like the thought of her being dismissed from voyager, but there was a good reason for it.

I thought Kes didn't work out all that well. Her character had no purpose on Voyager, she wasn't there for the same reasons they were. The mental powers aspect was just a way to deepen her character, and that apparently wasn't successful. I'm glad they got rid of her.
Seven of Nine is an interesting character. Unfortunately (what were they thinking?!) I think they put her on the show largely for sex appeal.  And they could have done a much better job with her character, but overall I liked her better than Kes, she had better storylines.

I personally like both. Both actresses had done a good job in portraying their respective characters.
Let me say that I find Kes to be the warmth in a good summer day, she touches you and make you feel....plain good and being cared for. For me, Kes made the perfect assistant to doctor, and I was saddened by her leaving the series as a regular. Comparatively, Seven make me admire her strength and confidence, with the blunt honesty that I find to be a rare quality in a world of intrigue.

Kes is my favorite. She's simply the best.
A fantastic character who really personified the spirit of Star Trek.
Seven? Has not been my favorite really. I really disliked her once upon the time because she replaced Kes and because the "changes" were hailed as a masterpiece by those in charge and some fans. Nowdays, I can acept Seven as a part of the Voyager story and also understand that many fans like her. As I see it, Kes should have remained on the ship even if Seven was brought in.

I liked Seven. I did too enjoy Kes, but there was just so much exploration into the Borg with Seven. Not just that into the Borg, but exploring the humanity of a former drone of 18 years. So much more potential for stories...
And look at that...There were PLENTY of stories!!!

Maybe they should have made an own show for Seven instead and focused on her years among The Borg and her way back to humanity instead of throwing her into Voyager which was a show about a spaceship lost on the other side of the galaxy.
Anyway, Kes was the best and should have remained in the show. She was too good to be thrown away like a piece of garbage and then ruined in "Fury". Kes really represented the spirit of Star trek, a spirit which was gone when she was kicked out.
