Setra nodded, ("It is unfortinate. I've always wanted to go to Japan, I've never got around to it") She seemed to have sad the laast part sadly. ("What can you tell about your self?")

Ken seemed a little taken aback by that question.
"(That's an odd question.)" He watched her a few moments. "(I'm not used to telling anyone about myself.)"

Setra chuckled. ("that came out wrong. I menat along the lines of, what do you do for a living? your not in a cadet's uniform, so you don't attend the academy.") She looked out the window. ("Here, I'll start. "I am attenting the academy for engineering services, because it's a challange, my parents tuaght me many other things at an early age...")

Ken nodded and laughed lightly.
"(Oh... I see...)." He smiled gently. "(You are right. I don't attend the academy. I actually live here, in a house my father purchased for me. He's a big business man. But I was sent here by my past employer who referred me to Starfleet.)"

"(Lately, however, I haven't had to think about much of anything. My father has been taking care of everything for me, for the most part)."

"(I'll have to speak with my father. I don't see a point in working if I don't have to. My father makes enough money to take care of me. And after he passes I'll inherit his fortune)."

Grabnar's
Jennifer sighed and looked down, into her coffee mug, at the dark liquid that was her raktajino. She saw a diffuse reflection of herself in the dark liquid, an broken mirror image. An eerie sight. Looking at her reflection was almost like looking into her own soul. Sometimes, Jennifer felt lonely and helpless...ever since the Dominion War and the fall of Betazed and...the deaths of her parents. But, then...Gultor came along. And, she still had her friends to lean on for support. But...sometimes...Jennifer just wanted to be alone. However scary of a feeling it was, sometimes, she just needed to get away from the rest of the world and think...meditate...This...this felt like one of those times.
Jennifer looked up from her coffee, at Dayanara, who was busy talking about boy's like she usually did. Sometimes, Jennifer thought that the only thing that Dayanara thought about was boy's. Jennifer loved Gultor with all of her heart, but, if it ever came between her career and him, she would choose her career every time. She would not let a boy stop her from reaching her dream of becoming a Starfleet Captain. And...if Gultor wouldn't be able to accept her leaving and joining Night Squad...so be it.
So many thoughts, rushing through Jennifer's mind...along with everyone else's. Sometimes, being a Betazoid could be tough. You had to cope with your own emotions, thoughts, and feelings, yet, you also had to listen to other's problems. At the Daystrom Institute, where Jennifer had spent several years of her life, the scientists there had taught her how to filter out other's thoughts and enhance her telepathic abilities. Jennifer was proud of her abilities...but...every once and a while...when she was feeling down and depressed...she would lose control of her powers and everyone's thoughts would come flooding back to her, again.
Jennifer put on a fake smile as Dayanara babbled, pretending to listen, nodding at random intervals. However, during the conversation, Jennifer had realized that she and Dayanara were needed at Starfleet Headquarters any minute now, for a meeting with this Admiral who had created Night Squad. She didn't want to be late for her first meeting with the "boss". Plus, she didn't want the rest of the squad to think poorly of her for being late...Lastly...Jennifer really wished to meet her co-leader. She wondered what he would be like...
"I'm sorry that I don't have more time to talk, Dayanara, but, I have to get to Starfleet Headquarters. I have a meeting with some Admiral or someone." Jennifer explained, as she stood up and snatched her coat. She took a final draught of her raktajino, finishing it off in one gulp. "I'm sorry. Another time, perhaps?" Jennifer laughed and winked at her friend. "Well...I got to go. See you at the meeting, then?" Jennifer nodded, solemnly, before rushing off, out of Grabnar's, out into the streets of San Francisco.
Starfleet HQ
Jennifer, who had changed into her cadet's uniform, with the four-pips indicating a fourth-year cadet, rushed into the Conference Room, to find it empty, except for a quiet Middle-Eastern looking man, a young Japanese man, and the Vulcan that she had seen earlier with Dayanara at the Student Lounge a few days before.
Jennifer nodded to the other's, before taking a seat on the right side of the Conference Table, sitting across from the Middle-Eastern looking fellow.

Setra nodded again and sighed. She looked around the room quietly. She then looked down and started to tie her fingers together. She glanced at his computer and watched him work some. She was begining to not feel so tense around these new people, even though she hadn't yet started talking to the other one. She spoke carfully, not sure if it would come out right. "What inspired you to do this? The life support thing i mean."

"(Boredom really)." He shrugged. "(I get bored and I start working on projects like this. I have tons of them stored up at my house... I just don't usually tell many people about them)."

Setra giggled. She was surprised at it really, as she had just met this man. ("many great things have come from boredom. This could very well save lives, or save engineers hassle for visiting dignateries and such.") Setra smiled.

Jennifer turned around in her seat, at the sound of the Japanese language. She saw the Vulcan from before speaking to the young Japanese man in Japanese in the corner. She raised her eyebrows, in curiosity; a habit that Jennifer had learned from the many Vulcans at the Academy. Jennifer believe Japanese to be a dead language. It was odd seeing others who could speak it. Jennifer, herself, knew her fair share of the language. Not enough to write a dictionary of the language, but, she had taken courses in several different Earth languages at the Academy, along with other alien languages. A good leader needs to know about other's cultures.
She stood up from her seat, flattening the ruffles in her uniform as she stood. She took a deep breath and approached the two. She had to know her fellow team members before-hand. She wanted to be on friendly terms with the other members of the team. After all, who wants a leader that they have no love or respect for? She didn't want anyone to hate her. Jennifer just wanted to get to know her team members better. The only way to do that was to talk to them.
She took a few deep breaths, as she tried to remember her Japanese. After a few seconds of thought, a lightbulb turned on in her brain and she remembered the language or parts of it, after searching through her brain.
Jennifer hesitated before speaking, wanting to make sure of the words that she was using. She didn't want to offend anyone by accident.
(Hello. I am Jennifer Maska. It is nice to meet you.) Jennifer introduced herself, as she outstretched her hand in a friendly gesture. (I had overheard a bit of your discussion and I decided to try and see what little of the Japanese language I could still remember. Am I doing well?) Jennifer ended the question with a slight smile.

Ken watched her a moment before smiling to her and taking her hand.
"(It's nice to meet you as well Jennifer. My name is Ken)." He shook her hand gently.

Jennifer shook the Japanese man's hand in turn. She liked the man. He seemed like an okay kind of guy. He was polite. That was a good thing. Jennifer hoped that she was being equally as kind.
(Ken, was it? Well...it is nice to meet you, Ken.) Jennifer smiled at the Japanese man. He had such dreamy eyes. Jennifer had found that many people of Asian descent had dreamy eyes. (So...are you members of this group...of Night Squad?) Jennifer asked, in a more serious tone of voice.

Ken shrugged and gave a rather relaxed sigh.
"(I was just told to come here. I don't know what's going on at the moment)." He stifled a yawn and glanced down at the program that was running on his computer.

Jennifer nodded curtly, to the Japanese man, Ken. As Ken worked on some sort of model on his PADD, Jennifer turned to the Vulcan, Setra, Jennifer had learned.
(And, you? Are you a member?) Jennifer asked, politely. Vulcans had always puzzled Jennifer. How could they keep all of those emotions within them? That must be very hard. However, Jennifer had learned that Vulcans still had emotions...deep down. Jennifer had learned about what Vulcan's thought about using her telepathic skills. They had emotion, but, with the Vulcan idealogy of "logic", they suppressed their emotions. How sad...everyone has emotions and should display them. It was humanoid nature.

Setra looked down at the floor, another new person. It made her...tense. She huffed quietly, and picked up a book from her pack.

Jennifer was taken aback by the Vulcan's attitude. Setra had just been speaking openly with the Japanese man, Ken, a few moments earlier, in fluent Japanese, but, when Jennifer approached, she just locked up.
Vulcans would never cease to confuse Jennifer.
(Alright.) Jennifer said, briskly, to the Vulcan, as she opened up a book. (Have it your way, then. I was just trying to make conversation.) Jennifer nodded to the Vulcan before turning back to the Japanese man. Jennifer could tell that the Vulcan woman was just shy, by her worried reaction.
(Vulcans...they will never cease to amaze me.) Jennifer said to Ken with a shrug and a laugh.

Ken smiled to Jennifer and watched her a moment, shutting his computer down.
"(May I ask what you're reading?)" He watched her carefully, a small smile on his lips. He didn't mind Jennifer. She seemed like a rather down-to-earth woman.

Setra felt her face buring up. She didn't realize that Jennifer had started talking to her. She looked to Ken and answered him first. ("Surak's 'the art of peace'") She moved her head to the side and murmered to Jennifer, her face beat red now. "I'm...sorry....Yes, I am a member of Night Squad..."
