You know, i always wonder why we call soldiers heroes? I mean they kill other people to win a war and when they come home they celebrate the victory and call those man heroes. They're the same as Serial Murders, but they say they doing it for a good cause... No offense to people who work, have friends or even have Familly in the army. Okay, not every soldier kill, that's true...

You are focusing on only one part of the military services. There are a great meany service people who never fire a shot, yet assist in other ways. They are all heroes becuase they make great personal sacrafices and put themselves in harm's way for the benefit of the public.

And no offense to you, but if you haven't worn a uniform you have no right to judge.

even so, killing people isn't murder. If they try to kill you and you have the chance to kill them first the decision is easily made. Its abou the reason why you want ot kill them. The allied soldiers in WWII are heroes since they fought for freedom and against suppression.

If both sides try to kill one another you get in a whole different situation then murder.

Please elaborate that part. I fail to see any type of connection other than death occurs.

I've posted a link below, because it explains things far better than I could. There's a difference between cold-blooded killing and what happens during a war. The article is a Christian perspective, but one worth reading whatever your beliefs.

You know this has always been an interesting debate.

I was watching the show Sleeper Cell. One of the terrorist, ironically a white, blonde haired, blue eyed American, was critiscising this very thing. I won't quote him exactly because of the...adult words he used but what he roughly says is this.

"American pilots fly over a city and bombs civilians. They get a medal. When we blow ourselves up and kill innocents, we're terrorists."

That is a...very unique point of view. There is only ONE difference between a murderer and a soldier who kills. Motive. Why one does it. One does it just to kill, while the other has a reason(more political). Soldiers kill not for the sake of it, but to fight against an enemy that threatens their nation. Its because of soldiers that we sleep at night, comfertable in our beds. Granted, the cost of us being comfertable is someone else getting attacked. Our military isn't perct and I think almost everyone can agree, but they are needed. The military protects us. The military is the proverbial muscle in the body that is our nation.

Interesting...

I'll have to agree with what Founder, and the rest are saying. A Murder, a serial killer, will do it for some sort motive. A Soldier will do it for survial. Either he does it first, or someone will kill him.

And also, Its nice how these people think the US bombs civilians because of a few incidents. They are rare, and always mistakes. We never want to kill innocents.

Agreed completely. People think the US kills innocents just to do it. It isn't true at all.

There's a differnce right there. A Murder generally don't care who he/she kills. A Soldier, generally DOES care, and wont even want to do it, even though it has to be done.

Thats a good point. Consciance has a lot to do with it. Murderers tend to have very little of that...

We talked a little bit about this in my Law class. Basically, there's criminal homicide and there's justifiable homicide. Look here: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?db=mwlaw&q=homicide
