PostFri Mar 31, 2006 9:13 pm    New time and date system

The United Nations has recently announced that a new time and date system is due to be released world wide in the not too distant future. While an exact date has not been set, it appears that it will be introduced on the 1st January 2007, with the existing system not being officially recognised after the 1st April 2007

The new system will work as follows:

Hours, minutes and seconds will no longer exist, but be replaced by katols, noterens and ticks respectively. This will avoid any confusion between the old system and the new system.
There will be 10 katols to a day, with each new day starting at 0:01 katols, and ending at 10:00 katols
There will be 100 noterens to a katol, and 100 ticks to a noteren.
In order to keep the length of a day the same, a tick will be equal to 0.864 seconds.
There will now be 10 days to a week, and just under 37 weeks to a year. The extra three days will be slotted in between friday and saturday, and named colediday, verneday and sabatoday.
There will be 10 months to a year, with most months having 37 days, february having 35 days, and April, June and November having 36 days. Leap years will still occur once every four years, when february will have 36 days instead of the usual 35 days. July and August will be dropped from the calendar completely.

Watchmakers around the world have already been alerted of this new system, and are putting forward proposals as to the exact layout of the new analogue watches. Digital watches are expected to remain more or less the same, as reprogramming them to suit the system of katols, noterens and ticks only required changes to the internal electronics.

While initially this system may seem confusing, the UN believes that as everyone gets used to it, and forgets about the current time and date system, that it will be far easier to work with.

Chris, in Australia, it's already tomorrow. Besides, you'll get used to it.
