PostWed Mar 22, 2006 10:57 am    Something i would love to see...

Now i know this would never actually be made. But i can still dream!

I would love to see a 3 - 6 part mini series about the begining of the Bajoran Occupation. When it comes to Bajorans its mainly focused on the end of the Occupation but we know hardly anything about how it started.

We know that Bajorans and Cardassians in the early 24th century were quite advanced. We also know that the Cardassians attempted a false peace with the bajorans to move into Bajor. From what we know it sounds like the Occupation didnt exactly happen over night. The Bajorans werent exactly weak and its obvious the Cardassians were slightly more powerfull and out-witted them.

Also with the Iraq Occupation reaching its third year i think it would be extremly interesting, and just that little bit easier to relate to.

Also of course i mentioned that both the Bajorans and Cardassians were powerfull, so we would OF COURSE see some excellent space battles hehehe

Does anyone agree this would be a great idea?

Iraq was never an occupation it was a flat out invasion and handing over of power.

Now why would you want to see how the bajoran got tortured?

Over here in england some news channels offen refer the incidents between america and iraq as an occupation.

I wouldnt like to see them tortured. I would like to see how the occupation started. I would like to see what the cardassians did to beat the bajorans and finally occupy there homeworld and to see how the harsh conditions on Bajor durin the occupation started. In star trek we know almost nothing about the begining of the occupation, only the last few years of it and it would be nice to have that gap filled.

This is a cool idea. It would be awesome to see the "terrorist" Kira in the Shakkar cell. Winn Adami as a simple Vedek, being tortured by the Cardassians. Gul Dukat, controlling DS9. Odo, serving as an unoffical detective, while straining against his Bajoran mentor. The thing I want to see the most? Garak in the Obsidian Order with Enabran Tain.

That does sound cool

and it could do good things for trek, because the reconstruction from the occupation was a big thing in DS9, so, something on this could bolster trek once again.

you see! lol it does sound great. i was thinking something like the first episode would how it started and the fall of bajor, then the next 3 epiodes would be about the begining of the occupation, going through the first few years. and then the last 2 episodes would be the end of the occupation. (of course when i say episodes im talking about full hour long ones like in band of brothers, not poxy 41 mins in star trek)

I don't think it would be a good idea to use Iraq for it but that's just me. But, people are going to try to use Iraq as some kind of storyline no matter what anybody else feels so really can't have any thoughts about it right now. Maybe come up with something else, maybe Bosnia cause it is not personal. Bosnia wasn't for us to step in but Iraq was.

My intent is not to base it upon Iraq. I was merely stating that if something like this were shown, then civilians would look at it and relate it to whats happening in Iraq at the moment.

People all over the world including many star trek fans believe that the Idea of the Bajorans was based upon the Palestinians or the Israelis and saw a connection with Bajor to the Gulf war. The creators of star trek have actually come out and explained that they get inspiration for the the Bajoran arcs off of the Gulf War, Palestinians or Israelis. But still people find that connection. Its just like when i was in Bali a few months ago one of the natives was explaining to us about his hindu religion and something he mentioned in automatically thought bajorans. Mainly the part out there D'jaras, but still it hasnt been stated that its based on hinduism. People simply see a connection, thats all.

I am pretty sure that a director or even Gene Rodenberry would like to make a mini-series concerning the Bajon peoples.

As well (this is where I come in for the kill) not all Star Trek fans like to see something not relating to well...... The Star Trek it self

lol, yes, I think there could be a premise there for a brilliant mini-series or movie, but better a mini-series, I would say.

Well RM um.... to be frank, because the Bajoran Occupation began as "helping" and look what happend? The "episodes" in the mini sereis should be longer then 1 hour imo, only doing 6 one hours, may as well start a series on it, two hours would be more mini series like...

Huh? And I think it should be like the BSG mini-series--4 episodes, I'm guessing one hour each in length.

Over here in England some of the news channels refer to whats happening in Iraq as an Occupation. Thats all i was going on, nothing else.

I was thinking more along the lines of Band of Brothers. Accept im not sure wether it should be 6 or 10 hours like BoB. I guess 4 episodes about the begining, 3 about the middle and 3 about the end (Seeing as we already know a fair bit about it)

It could be interesting as a prequel to a DS9 re-run.

As for the Cardassian occupation of Bajor, I do think there are more similarities to Nazi-Germany's occupation of Poland and the Soviet occupation of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania than the situation in Iraq. The Nazis and the Soviet's aim was to destroy those occupied countries and plunder them while the US invasion of Iraq was actually meant to overthrow Saddam Hussein and establish some sort of democracy (even if there seem to be some problems with that).

Something i would love to see is a series that takes place after DS9 in the middle of the dominion war. there's a beaten a battered captain oh, 35-40 years old. he's in commander of an experimental ship the " u.s.s. Nautalus" an extremely big and powerful ship. starfleets first official warship. i believe that would make an extremely impressive series, and it would make an even better couple of movies.

if anyone wants to contact me my e-mail is [email protected]
or my AIM address is chocolatestud15. and for your information i'm white.
