PostSun Mar 19, 2006 8:46 pm    What the President should do!

Solutions????

1 - The President needs to help the poor unemployed legal citizens of this country. By giving them the jobs that the illegal workers have taken from this country and giving them temporary housing. Primarily Apartments.

2 - The President needs to tighten up the border security issue by not allowing anyone who comes in illegally to work and have those people deported immediately.

3 - The President needs a new bill that would increase police officer recruitment. Incentives such as benefits for an officer and higher pay for those who put their lives on the line.

4 - The President must set higher goals in schools and have schools make at least 90% of their students pass. One way is too eliminate the required testing done in high school which totally is pointless because most of the questions are not even taught by teachers in high schools.

5 - The President needs to put a new bill that will crack down on many street related violence. Like arresting hundreds and thousands of gang members that are ruining the streets with their grafiti and violent attacks.

6 - The President must make a move on other sources of energy now instead waiting for a 10 year research. If a solared power car that can run at speed of 80mph is possible then why should we wait 10 years for them? If they are available then we should start producing them.

I will have more ideas later..

Southern California Farmers have a defecit of about 50,000 workers, fact is, people don't want to take them. Why give underpaid, overworked jobs to real Americans? How about we stop screwing businesses over with the current tax code, and create some real jobs.

No reason to sent out good, tax paying, work. They're willing to take jobs that Americans don't want.

Why would the president be involved in that in any way? Police funding and management is appropriated from the state level. Talk to the governors here.

I say it's time we need to make teacher TEACH what is on these tests, and require the students pass them to move on. I've long believed we need a much more uniform national curriculum.

Again, this needs to be dealt with by state government. The federal government really has no means of cracking down on this kind of stuff.

Solar cars have been deemed implausible for years. If we're going to move on, it's going to be something like Ethanol for the short term, with hydrogen cars taking over down the line. Hopefully, we also expand Nuclear power in the U.S.

How do you propose to identify the illegals, since they already have fake documents?

I agree in spirit, but until we can KEEP them out, it does no good to SEND them out.

I agree we need more police, but I don't think money will do it. Those that are already officers do so despite low pay and danger. Those who do not want to be officers will not change their mind for more money.

I agree that there should be a national standard for what a graduating high school student should know (and be able to demonstrate by testing). Our education system and our society allow any student who truly wants to learn (or even excel) do so. I don't even pretend to know how to get kids who don't want to learn to do so.

A drop in the bucket. Our entire "justice system" needs a huge rebuild.
As for gangs, gang members are rejecting society and daring us to kill them. I say we take them up on their offer.

First off, this President (as with most other recent past or near future ones) is heavily invested in oil. There is no incentive for the current "powers that be" to promote or even allow alternative energy development.
Second, the companies trying to develop alternative energy are running full tilt boogy, not goofing around. They want to make money, so they are pushing their technologies as fast and hard as possible. But so far, none of them can truly compete with oil. Sad but true.
Third, solar power (at the Earth's surface) is only good for about 1,000 watts per square meter (at best). It takes about 35,000 watts to give an electric car acceptable performance. Do the math.

Because they can own illegal documents? We should allow them to continue living here? What the immigration guys can do is check wether the document is fake or not using the technology we have now.

The President cannot, and should not give any amnesty to anyone who is Illegally living here.
