We think that Republican person happened. Drove everyone away with their incessant fatuity. We think we all know who we're talking about.

Now, I'm not saying that I agree with Scapegoat, but I must say that he used a really good word that I've never seen before. "Fatuity." That is an excellent word, I must say. "Incessant fatuity." The phrase is just phenominal.
Again, I'm not saying that I agree with it. All I'm saying is that I like the phrase/word. Clearly Theresa isn't the reason for the inactivity.
Anyways, I think we should pinpoint the exact reasons for inactivity and find a way to strike at it, to make activity levels higher. Not just member level increases, but activity levels higher.

Your vocabulary problems are hardly our concern. Clearly we need to cast out this dirty Republican and elect a new dictator. Might we suggest that delicious Welsh piece of ass, Thomas?

Eight users on, and no one posting a thing. There you go.
There was about 18 on earlier, and the same thing. Like Monster said, there isn't much left to say.

Ha. It's not that there isn't enough to say anymore, it's that we don't have the users who are willing to participate in a conversation that involves firing up the synapses.
The Trek forums are filled with "whose hair is better?", "who's hotter?", "who would win?"
Now while those topics are fun to post in every now and then, they are hardly thought provoking or require any intelligence or analytical skills other than being able to identify the difference between red hair or blonde hair.
Founder has made countless topics where tonnes could have been said and a great discussion could have emerged but they involved intelligence and effort so the topics died, go figure.
Cold hard truth. Sorry.

Thanks Dan and I agree. What do people mean when they say "there is nothing left to say"? Huh? There is always something to say. Always. Even with the Star Trek hiatus. There are so many discussions we can have, but we don't. The examples Dan gave was really good about the stupid topics.
I'll admit, even DS9 has those kind of topics. "Does Sisko look better bald or not?" Those topcis are ok every once and a while, but ALL the time? No.
I go into the VOY section and try to have a deep discussion on the morals of some of Janeway's decisions. The most controversial captain IMO. What do people do? Gang up on me and complain that I'm attacking them and stuff. What!? It makes no sense.
WN? There is ALWAYS something new to say. News is eternal. World News especially. Yet it had run dry somewhat...
I won't even comment on the near comatose nature of the RPGs...
When I first joined the site was buzzing with activity. WN was flooded with people taking a certain stand and arguing.
RPGs? Dear God, there was a new RPG literally everyday. Granted half of them died, but still. Virtually every RPG, large and small, had a full crew.
There was always a new topic in each ST section. People were talking about a new movie in the movies section. A new game in game section and a new book in the book section. It literally would take me an hour just to catch up with everything I missed.
Do I blame anyone? No. Its no ones fault perse. There was a huge influx of newbies in one month and they pretty much hijacked the site. Then some people would go off on vacation for a long time. Others had their computer broken and we started to lose a lot of good people. Not to mention, not that this is anyone's fault, the site would crash and people would go away not knowing the site was back up in a few days.
A lot of SMALL things contributed to what happened. Does that mean the site is dead now? No. Does it mean its too late to save? Not at all. The site is still great and a lot of good people are here. A lot of people I respect and some I consider friends.
We can still help the site. There have been low points, but STV has always endured. I think it will continue to do so.

We need to start thinking of ways to revitalize the site.

K, guess there is more to say. But I've been totally turned off of Trek, and I do blame that partially on this site. When I first started watching it, it was so great, there were so many layers, so many different things that could be discussed. And in the beginning, they were discussed. Then, like Dan said, we got all of those "who's hair is better", blah blah blah... So I, for the most part, quit going to those parts of the forums.
Then, again, as was said, you have people like Founder making good topics, such as the ethics one, and you get replies; "Janeway did the right thing because I said so", "Janeway was right and you aren't going to change my mind". Crap like that totally turns me off, too. What's the point in discussing anything with closeminded people? Gets quite boring,
As for RPG's, ACK! I did try, though.
And I love WN, I even liked that RM was in there, getting on peoples nerves. Too bad about the rule breaking, but, that's not the point here. Again, we have, "I am right", blah blah, (in WN). I can't stand stuff like that, either. I actually spent about an hour the other day reading the last few pages in WN. There were some great discussions going on then. And I suppose that could happen again. Dunno.
(does this count as a rant?)

Don't know if this is relevant at all but I just noticed this:

There seems to be a lot of traffic, but not as much posting as we might like...

If I could, I'd spend more time here. But with work and personal commitments, I just don't have the time. I'd wager that 90% of the members would say the same. Also, when you're feeling down, it's hard to muster up enthusiasm to talk about anything.
