Ya, it MIGHT, but probably not, create a lot of new fans. And if they did do that, then they would LOSE more CURRENT fans than they would gain new ones. I know I would dislike it. You can't remake classics. I mean, in a few exceptions, but NOT Trek...No way...I'd stop watching all together....Except my Voyager. I wouldn't even watch anything new...

I wouldn't put too much faith in wherever you heard that, unless it came straight from Paramount. There would be WAY TOO many upset Trek fans if they even THOUGHT about doing that. *Shudders at the thought of a remake* No. We don't need to go back where we've already been. Time to move on...

I disagree. The original is, um, the original. It's not something that should be messed with and should stay the way it is.
Besides, we can't/shouldn't replace the old actors anyway. After all, William Shatner is Captain Kirk. Leonard Nimoy is Spock. DeForest Kelley is McCoy. James Doohan is Scotty. I could go on and on and on...

So, yeah. I say nay.

I say no way.. Captain Kirk is best suited for the original TOS... Maybe they can do another new series not containing to TOS. Something more interesting ,humor, and action. That will not fail this time.

I think its disingenuous to say that "I wouldn't watch". Remakes, even very bad ones, are often hard to not watch. Imagine if George Lucas decides to remake the final 3 episodes of Star Wars, he'd set box office records while setting off perhaps the biggest controversy in film history.

Just the space graphics, the writing, acting, etc, would remain the same.

Yeah, remaking the original Star Trek would just be weird. I mean, yeah it would be cool with new special affects and new episodes but no one can replace the original actors. I mean, Leonard Nimoy is the example that other Star Trek actors go off of when they portray a Vulcan. Where would we be with out William Shatner's dramatic way of acting, "Who...are...you?" It just wouldn't be the same. It's too much of a classic and has such a huge fan base. Which is why there are so many shows and movies after it. I wouldn't like it really.

You know CGI and voice manipulation is so powerful now that Paramount could probably re-do TOS as computer animation and get away with it. You could have the series show the last 2 years of the original 5 year mission and conclude with the return of Enterprise to drydock and the tribulations Kirk would face in becoming admiral. The voice magicians would only have to sample voices from the original TOs and then do a little magic manipulation. They'd probably still have to pay royalties to the original actors for using their voices and images but a CGI TOS would be very cheap to make, in the long run.

No!

Unless they could make a computer generated series, they should leave TOS alone.

There wouldn't be the same thing without Shatner, Nimoy, Doohan, Kelley and the others.

They should come up with a new series in the 24th century instead.

Im for a remake of the series myself, why wait 50 years for technology to advance to make another movie or series that involves the future, when there is a door still open for the past. The old series and enterprise, didnt explain alot of detail about the conflicts with the romulans, klingons and the federation that lead to the neutral zone being established, theres still alot of history to catch up on yet.

No...don't go back and remake anything...There's alot of history that we don't need to know about...because they tried doing that with "Enterprise" and it sucked. It ruined alot of canon as we know it, as well as damaging our timeline. All you're asking them to do (indirectly of course) is do it again...

I respect your opinion, but if you think about it, every starfleet captain has changed history at least one time and ended up straightening out the timeline.Enterprise was no different, it involved saving mankind just like most of all the other captains tried. Its the star trek viewers that cancelled enterprise because everyone is centered to the future and not the past, and when something doesnt seem right they down grade it, what happens if a future series or movie has the same mess up? Will the star trek media downgrade it?

The remake maybe better than what people give it credit for, be thankful the star trek universe isnt cancelled and we have something to look forward to, because it could have been the end.

But they straightened it out...? What? Meaning they had an episode that "changed" the Trek timeline, but by the end of the episode all was back to normal? If that's what you mean, then yes, but that's not what I'm talking about...

Enterprise was different. There was nothing really about saving mankind until the last season because of the Xindi threat. And with Enterprise being different is the same as you saying to go back in time and show us more history. Well that was the whole point of Enterprise. To give viewers a new show, and to show us the beginnings of the Federation and such. But they did poorly on it, and we didn't really need to know. Why? Because they (the creators and writers and such) violated the timeline as we know it. But it's now "part" of the timeline we know. They tried to show us something we didn't want to see. That didn't NEED to be shown...

No, it wasn't the Star Trek viewers that cancelled Enterprise. It was the Network due to lack of ratings. The show didn't get good until the final season AFTER they knew they were going to be cancelled. I didn't get to see a whole lot of Enterprise due to my busy schedule while it was on, but from what I saw now and again, it sucked. And then I went off of other people saying "The last season was awesome..." That tells me and all the other viewers that if the first 3 seasons were as good as the final season, then it wouldn't have been cancelled. And if it was cancelled because of the viewers, then it would have been cancelled no later then the end of the second season...so it was by no means the fault of the viewers...

What the heck? Im talking about all the star trek captains of every series, and you know something else? The star trek fans and viewers are what made up the tv ratings to whether enterprise would stay on or not.And i certainly disagree with your opinion about the timeline, if you watch every series like i have you will see that something to do with the federation and earth was involved in every timeline, and it was apparent that the captains take every measure to make sure the timeline was either changed to the greater good of the federation or earth, You can debate that until your green in the face, it wont change nothing. All your trying to do is down-grade my comments at every possible convience because you dont like my opinions, well thats tough. It seems to me you dont understand nothing im saying, maybe i should go into sign language for you so you will for once

whoa...don't have a cow dude...

I have had this opinion of Enterprise and "remaking" the old series and "going back to Kirk's Era and before" LONG before you joined this forum...So I'm NOT trying to downgrade your comments...so please, back off and don't take it personally.

Then disagree with my saying about how Enterprise ruined the timeline...that's your opinion, as you have stated...I have nothing against that. I'm just stating my opinion, and that of several other posters here as well...mainly mine...but , whatever.
