At school we do these things called brainstorms where you put a topic in a circle and you draw lines off the circle showing connective thoughts, only we're not allowed to call them brainstorms because that's apparently offensive to people with mental illness. That's a stupid amount of political correctness.
Quote: | I saw something on the front of one of the papers today that made me laaaaugh. A nursery in England somewhere has changed the name of the nursery rhyme "Baa Baa Black Sheep" to "Baa Baa Rainbow Sheep" to avoid offending anyone. That has to be the stupidest thing I ever heard. |
Totally agree. Rainbow doesn't even scan!!!! Why didn't they at least choose a monosylabic word to replace black like green?! It could be a green environmentally friendly organic sheep!
People say that that song comes from slave times because black people used to harvest cotton that looks like wool. So what? You can still have it as a nursery rhyme! It's not like you're saying "Baa baa black sheep, you're inferior to all the white sheep because you're black..." We can still sing ring a ring a roses, which is about people dying from plague!!
And people who are all against calling it Easter shouldn't celebrate it or eat easter eggs. I'm not Christian, so I do not celebrate the death and resurrection of Christ. I do not eat easter eggs, wear an easter bonnet or do anything really that has a connection with easter except celebrate Shrove Tuesday (Mardi Gras) by eating pancakes (and only because my mum offers them to me).
I call Christmas Christmas, but I don't celebrate Christmas, I celebrate Yuletide. We call it a Christmas tree not a winter tree because my parents are Christian and do celebrate the birth of their saviour.
Political correctness has gone mad all over the place. People try so hard not to offend each other. Being offended does you good once in a while!

Want to get technical, they're of asian heritage. Therfore indians are Asian Americans. Getting to the source of it all, we're all likely African in heritage. Heritage is B.S. --- Let's all drop the ancestoral facades, and focus on ourselves; make the best of what YOU ARE. Not what you're from. |
Native means the first human too live on that location, that where the indians. If you have Indian blood in you, you are related to native americans. When the Asians crossed the sea duing the Ice Age America wasn't a seperate continent.
and don't go all political correct on this Topic all of the sudden. |
Pangia wasn't in existance any longer when Asians crossed the Bering Straight to Alaska, therefore entering America. Therefore, Asian. And as said, before that- African.

Ok, so at Walmart the other day, they had the store decorated for St Patricks day. Every one of the decorations said "Happy Shamrock Day" on them. Oh puh-leeze.

Woah... that's bad! If you're not going to celebrate the actual event, don't celebrate at all!

I don't get it. Why change the name of this holiday? Does it offend Irish people?

Here's a thought, if it's not your patron saint's day, don't celebrate it!!!
Although, I'm not sure if american's have a patron saint, so I guess you have the liberty of celebrating which ever saint's day you like best.
Shamrock day... I'll add it to my "why I hate walmart" list.
I mean, I researched a bit, and we're going back to pagan times here. Christmas replaced the pagan Yuletide way back, and easter replaced the pagan spring celebration (although, strangely enough, the word comes from the pagan earth goddess). Only now, through polictical correctness, we're going back to celebrating winter and spring again, instead of Christmas and Easter.
How odd. I think I'll go get my broomstick.
