Yeah I have to say I would have destroyed the array too, but I wonder if it would be considered a violation of the prime directive? After all, I guess destroying the array did have an effect on other species. Could always say the Maquis did it though.

Yeah, I would, otherwise people wouldn't have 7 great seasons of voyager!!!!! Sorry, had to say that.
I guess I would have, cuz Janeway is someone who protects innocent people. And the Ocampa were innocent. But at some point I would've chosen for my crew, sooner than Janeway I think.

Ya, but look at it this way...if Voyager would have just stayed away from the Caretaker and let the Kazon take a look like they wanted, the self destruct sequence activated by the Caretaker wouldn't have been damaged, and then the station would have still been destroyed, thus still leaving Voyager stranded in the DQ...granted, this scenario doesn't "place" Janeway with the decision and the "bad guy" role for that decision, but it still would have happened.

PostFri Jan 13, 2006 5:57 pm    yes i would

as we know the prime directive must come first and foremost for federation subjects so janeway was justified and commander chakotay and tuvok were in agreement with this decision to quote ambassador spock the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one

i thought we didnt need words to understand each other (admiral janeway talking to the borg queen after being assimilated in endgame)

I would destroy the array because it would be able to protect the Ocampa from the Kazon, no matter how long of time that they had. I wouldn't want to just adandon them. Plus, even if she didn't destroy the array, people would have died anyway during the war with the Dominion and the Jem Hedar. In fact, I'm sure more people would have died if they stayed behind, so in some ways, being in the Delta Quadrant was a good thing, however it was no cake walk either.

Now the next question is..."How can you use it, if the Caretaker set it to self destruct?" If he set it to self destruct, then you wouldn't have been able to use it. And the ONLY reason Janeway destroyed it, as mentioned previously in this topic, is b/c Chakotay's ship caused the Kazon ship to crash into the array thus disabling the "Automated Self Destruct" sequence. So without that happening, you can't use it b/c it would have been destroyed.

Tuvok: "Captain, I can access the system to send us back to Federation space but it will take several hours to activate."

That shows they have the ability to access the information...

Anyone could have used it when the Kazon rammed into the Array. I think we're going on the hypothetical situation if you are there are THAT moment. When she had the pick to destroy or use it. Not "Well...if you're kind of in that situation.."

I never presented a "Well, if you're kind of in that situation."

But, I see your point. I neglected to look at the part about being able to use it even after the self destruct was destroyed...
