How old is too old to drive?

I've had this question for awhile and I have an opinion that anyone over the age 70 should be tested wether or not they can still drive a car correctly.

About 2 months ago this 96yr old lady that I kinda knew crashed her car right into a wall of a Bank of America because she says she lost control. I was thinking that because she had a bad disability and could barely walk it was a bad idea for her to be driving in the first place.

Do you guys think there should be an age limit in driving? or at least a test wether you can still drive when you reach that age. If you can't drive correctly at age 80 or something your bound to get into a car accident so I think its a good idea to at least test a person at age 70 and if they pass the test they should be allowed to continue to drive. If they don't pass then they shouldn't be allowed to drive a car must have someone drive them around town.

^ once you reach a certain, age, the testing is done something like every three years. It all depends if you can handel the vheical or not. SOME can, some can't

It's not a question of age.

It's a question of knowledge (the road rules), senses (sight, hearing), coordination (respoding to outside events), judgement and health.

Anyone at any age can suffer a loss or reduction in one or more.

My father, at age 72, refuses to drive because he knows he can't see well or react quickly enough for modern city traffic.

I agree with testing from age 70 (every three years from that age here) as that'll ensure that the driver is still road legal. As long as they are though, they should be allowed to drive.

It's unlikely I'll ever be legally allowed to drive- I have co-ordination problems and very poor depth perception.

Every five years, untill like age 65 or something, then it's every three

And I agree that age shouldn't be the determining factor. My great grandmother was out playing wiffle ball with us at 90.

Yeah, my neighbor is 92, drives, lives alone, and is in perfect health. People like that don't need their license taken away

I agree with the testing and that it's not just age. My grandfather was practically blind and driving, so whoever was doing the testing here wasn't doing their job. It was a war and a half to get him to give up his licence...
