PostSat Feb 25, 2006 2:07 am    What happened?

I have just returned from a 8-month leave from this site. I came back, and over the few days I have been back, I wonder: What Happened? Back in March, when I left, the forums were blooming. There were many new users a day, and a hundred posts a day. Now, there are only a few new users since I came back, and several forum area's haven't been touched for days. This forum used to be vibrant, and huge. Now we're small again.

I guess people are just sad that I'm not in WN anymore... J/K
No, seriously, I've wondered that too. I guess everyone's getting older and less and less interested, or, rather, more and more busy. I wish, for instance, RPGs would be more active, but they're not.
I don't quite know the exact reason, but it's more than likely--at least in part, anyways--having to do with those reasons.

I have a life, yet I come on here a lot. But as I said, non-STV commitments take precedence, and it appears that they've increased in numbers.
But yeah...life. Why does it always have to get in the way?

Maybe some people are just busy and can't get on. I know when I loose my internet connection in a day or two I won't be on til I get it back. But I always come back.. Can't keep away from STV! lol

Yeah, I noticed it too. I get here quite often still, but I think it's sad too that the RPG's are really abondoned at times, almost dead. The first RPG I signed up for, hasn't been active for weeks.
I don't know what the reason is, really.. Well, people have lives, but this site is really nice, so...
Ah well, we'll just make it cosy with the few of us that's left!

Just try to get people to come here. It is a nice and friendly site.. Maybe have of us stop spamming.Including myself. I get caught or catch myself. lol Make longer and better posts... I learnt one thing from a member I don't even see anymore which is interstellercrazed. I often bumped into him about it. But learned he is right. Longer and better posts are better. I got to take what he said to heart.

Yeah...I think we should, just to see, take a census of all the active site members.

I think some of it may be the time of year. We're smack in the middle of the school year, and people (or at least I know I have been...) are getting streched in terms of time. Worrying about semester grades, AP exams, end of the year tests starting to appear on the radar...Real life shtuff

True, but there's much more to do.
I think Theresa should start another one of those census things and we should figure out some ways to revitalize the STV community.
I mean, when someone's stressed with work and school and they're friends aren't available, this should be a refuge. It is for me. It was moreso, but that's being held off for an indefinite amount of time, but it still is.
Any suggestions?

This happens every once in awhile. People get busy, and like TM said, this is a very busy time for a lot of schools, too.

If y'all want, though, we could do another census. Doesn't matter to me.

funny thing. This week I saw fliers in my little town of Palo Alto. They said, "Join Startrekvoyager.com. The best Star Trek discussion place on the web". Does anyone know who this is?

And yeah, I would like another census, personally.

That was me. I learned to fly and I sprayed pamphlets and fliers down all over the world. Even Croatia and to some peoples' surprise, Atlantis.

That wasn't a joke. Its a true story. I really want to know who that was. It has to be a dedicated fan of the site.

I used to be really, really active. Back in 2003 mostly. I'd post over 50 times a day occasionally, really crappy spam most of the time. My posts back then were sometimes just a single word, and for some reason I didn't ever get into trouble for it. Anyways, I still come here every single day, but I only post if I just have to say something, or if i'm insanely bored. Well, a lot of my posts were in RPGs and Fun & Games. I'm not sure what the real reason is for my lack of posting but I guess it may be because this place doesn't feel so lively anymore.

Ironic, isn't it? One of the reasons for not being active is because other people aren't active...

I am going to try to be more active. Between the army and my second job might be rough. But, I will come on after work.

Some people may feel that they've said all they need to say. A lot of issues and topics have already been discussed. That's kind of how I feel...

I'm a very old member of STV (the first member to join, as Morphy's account was created with the site). I very rarely visit the Star Trek areas anymore, as I find it's now all repetition. Real life gets in the way of my visiting, as does my operating system not letting me connect to the net (I'm working on it ). With college and Samantha I simply don't have the time to visit the site, although in the past I used to be able to post 100+ times a day with no problems (or spam). If they bring a new Star Trek series or film out then I'm sure interest will return.
