I love a lot of those bands 
Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden being my main 3. Recently started to listen to Ozzy / Sabbath. Loving them. Lots of others on that list rock, though!
Where's Anthrax, btw?

Rush is my all time favorite band. They should not be on this list.
If Rush is metal...then... I dunno. 40-50 has a lot of good bands (like Whitesnake) but shouldn't be considered metal, too.
I do like quite a few of the selections on here though. Children of Bodom, Yngwie Maalmsteen, Iced Earth, Megadeth... solid.

I know its wierd but some people actually consider Queen as a metal band. On some magazines, and websites Queen is sometimes labeled as a metal band.
Well I will just take out Queen and replace it with Anthrax.

oh no. a metal fan...... Look, dude. Just becasue you like metal doesn't mean every band you like Is metal too... a lot of metal fans think some bands are metal but they aren't. Also, most Metal type names like "Doom metal" don't even exist really. Its just thought up by metal fans.
Black sabbath is not metal, its Rock.
Scorpions? Please, don't make me laugh. If that is metal then so is Mariah Carey.
Aerosmith?
AC/DC?
Van Halen-Hair Metal? Did you just make that up? Van Halen is the least Metal of all, oh, wait... KISS? Are you nuts?
No, really, what the hell is Christian Metal? I never even heard of that, when did they make that up?
The only real Metal bands i see that i know for 100% as metal are Metallica, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden.
Other bands i have heard off: Def Leppard, Motorhead, Whitesnake, tesla and arch enemy.
Of which all i don't see as Metal.
Give me good links of places you got the info about all this from and i'll see what i can do.

Dude, there's a lot of classifications of what metal is. What people consider to be heavy metal is has changed a lot over the years. There was a time when people thought that Led Zeppelin was metal.

Not all metal are Heavy Metal. Not all bands have to sound like Metallica, Iron Maiden, or Judas Priest to be Metal.

Just because its Christian doesnt mean its not metal. Metal like all genre of music doesn't have to be about satan or pure evil to be considered whatever genre it is.
I can write a power metal song with metal riffs and all that cool stuff and sing about god at the same time. Nothing wrong with it, its still metal.
Black Sabbath btw is considered as Doom Metal by many metal websites on the internet. Black Sabbath should be metal anyways since without those guys metal as we know now wouldn't exist in the first place. I thank them for bringing metal to the forefront of music.
If you want to argue about what is metal and what is not? Do look at the facts first before you start yelling out things like "Wheres Slipknot? They are like the best Metal Band?"

Scorpions is Hard Rock. HARD ROCK!
You said it yourself, Black sabbath is called Metal by Metal sites, thus metal fans. Only metal fans call it that. Sure, Black Sabbath made Metal happen and they might have 1 or 2 metal songs, but its a Hard Rock band. Just like deep purple who may have made 1 or 2 Metal songs in their later life but are still a Hard Rock band.
Queen, Aerosmith, Kiss, AC/DC. All Hard Rock.
Of ourse, there are lots of Metal bands and i'm sure most of the bands you Gave are metal. I'm just pointingo ut the ones that are not metal at all.
Its totally unkonw where metal even came from, so after they started too use the Term Heavy metal they fused all the things that looked like it as Metal and started calling it silly things like Death Metal and Soft Metal, while its Rock.
soft Metal is what Metal fans call Hard Rock. Thats how easy its renamed. I considder Soft Metal as well as most other metal genres to be totally non existing. The only real Metal is Heavy Metal(Judas Priest) and thrash Metal(Metallica).
Iron Maiden, Megadeth and maybe Motorhead are Heavy Metal.
weirdest Name is "Hair metal", Supposedly Nirvana. But nirvana is never Metal, its way to soft for that. Its not Soft metal then, its Hard Rock.
Rock is the basis, everything is rock unless proven otherwise by a Non-Metal fan.
Come on, only the existance of stupid "Sub-Genres" like Funeral doom and brutal death metal must make you think twice of the entire Genre.

Nirvana had nothing to do with hair metal... It was a name given to all of the later 80's pop/metal bands like Danger Danger, Firehouse, Enuff Z'Nuff, etc.

The end of that section totally expalins my disbelieve of the "Soft Metal" term too.
The People who made the articles(Nightfall and Andre Engels) are obvious Metal fans.
