I was wundering why the Q havent just wiped the brg straight out of the galaxy like Q was going to do to humanity and i came up with this.

Timeline 1: Borg exist

Timeline 2: Q eliminate borg and something worse comes around

Timeline 3: Q eliminate the "something worse" and something even worse than that comes around.

So what I thought is going on is that the Q merely tolerate the Borg because they are the lesser of two evils.

Or, the Q were just gonna wipe out humanity b/c they didn't think they were worthy of existance as well as they were just too darn primitive...The Borg however aren't primitive...they strive for a goal...Perfection.

And on top of that, the Q then allowed humanity to survive b/c they proved their "worthiness" or whatnot to live...and then allow humanity to fight for their own survival. As you full well know, they don't just go around interfering with the political affairs and stuff...just consider it the "Q Prime Directive." LOL. But seriously, that kinda makes more sense...

OR maybe the Q are not as powerful as one is led to believe...

"But you mustn't think of us as omnipotent, no matter what the Continuum would like you to believe. You and your ship seem incredibly powerful to lifeforms without your technical expertise. It's no different with us. We may appear omnipotent to you, but believe me we're not."-Quinn

I don't think they can do it. It also seems that the Q are worried about messing with the Borg.
"If the Continuum's told you once, they've told you a thousand times: DON'T PROVOKE THE BORG!"-Q
I think this is because the Borg travel to other dimensions, This would mean they can travel to the Q continuem which is another dimension. Perhaps they don't want the Borg researching the Q continuem because if they enter it they may be able to comprehend it and comprehend the Q's true form and learn of a way to assimilate them.

I got that idea because Q always shows people the continuem as a representation (An example of this would be the long stretch of road in the middle of a desert, Or the camps of war during the Q civil war).
Humans cannot comprehend alot of things because of limitations such as vision. The Borg can adapt to these limitations and if they enter the Q continuem it would only be a matter of time before they found a way to understand and assimilate the Q.

Eh..no, the borg cannot adapt to what they haven't assimilated...

Wait, let me take that back...sorry...I think the borg would have to assimilate the Q before they could understand...and if they don't understand, then they really can't assimilate them...Because B'Elanna said in Scorpion (or another episode, confident it was Scorpion though) that they don't understand what they can't assimilate.

And I don't think the borg would be able to reach the Q, personally...I mean yes, they reached Species 8472, but I highly doubt that the Borg just go ducking their heads into random spaces...I wouldn't quite call Species 8472's home another "dimension." But anyway, we're not disucussing that...LOL...

And you're very right, Founder, about Quinn's quote...it's very possible that it's just something that they (the Humans) don't understand...

As for not provoking the Borg...It sounds as though the Continuum has tried to reprimand Q2 for disturbing other planets and stuff...they probably don't what him to provoke the Borg b/c of a fear of an imbalance of power, possibly...sending them somewhere they shouldn't be that they could gain an advantage...

I guess now thinking about it, the Q kind of remind me of the "Ancients" on Stargate...kind of a "non-interference" policy, but they kind of interfere when they're bored...but "non-interference" when it comes to tipping the balance of power or something... you never know...

EnsignParis is right the Q are fictional characters.

They are?????? I always thought they were real, damn that is some revelation

It's funny to see how everyone likes to speculate and tries to think up all kinds of scenarios how this and that is possible.
But when it comes to the Q, which I must say is very hard to explain on a scientific basis, a few people suddenly begin to say: Star Trek is a not real! (no offence)

We all know that, I hope But let's pretent it is, that's why we are here right? To discuss every single aspect of Star Trek?
That's all I have to say on this matter at the moment...
Keep those theories coming, I find them very interesting!
