Hey everyone!
I've just been reading an extremely satirical article, one written by my older sister, that makes fun of ultra-violence. I happen to think it is quite amusing.....
This led me to wonder about if having to really think about what you're thinking about in order to find it humorous is a lot of work to go through just to incite a burst of laughter. Or is it funnier when two things coincide with one another ironically?
Just looking for an opinion from everyone who has a meaningful comment to make on this topic. I'm going to be writing an essay comparing and contrasting these two literary techniques and I thought it would help if I had some poll stats to add in there.
Anyone who isn't familiar with satire, please check THIS out!

Basically, what I'm asking is:

I like it when both work together (which seems to be missing from the poll).
Being English, I've had to grasp irony very early on (it's used an awful lot here), and sometimes struggle with it. Satire uses a lot of irony, and I can normally figure it out.
I don't really know why I like it- I just do. I don't mind who's the subject either

That would be slapstick........and it isn't considered to be a literary device.....at least, I don't think it is...........................  I could be mistaken, though.....forgive me, it's late and I'm exhausted....
