You're not getting it. Its like how Liberals moan and complain about how Fox News is a Conservative channel while calling itself "fair and balanced". They say "We admit that our shows may not be fair and balanced, but at least we don't run around saying it."

Liberals constantly say they are the party of tolerance, although I've found that tolerance is only for people that ARE Democrats. If not? Not so much tolerance.

His point is that while some Conservatives may mistake, some Liberals do too. The tolerance thing was pretty much an example because its something Liberals claim to be....

Liberals think they are always right and everyone else is wrong . That is not the atitude to have. I, myself is not a liberal; I often catch myself doing what liberals do and I regret it.

Liberals are the ones who spin things just look at CNN. That is one dishonest news. no offense. I rather believe what Fox says than CNN. Or better yet any media.

Everything you just said, also applied to Conservatives. Both sides spin things.

i don't claim liberals never spin things. They always do. As do conservatives.

Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.46

I'm a little scared, but I'm okay with it. Go Libertarianism.

That's what I've been trying to say, and floundering at it

I'm not saying liberals (and by liberals I mean Democrats and the fringe of the left) are "correct" or that they aren't hypocritical.

But they're trying to become more centered. That's something that the Republicans (from my point of view) can't really claim right now. Mostly because they control both Congress and the the White House, they don't need to pull it together quite so much. But that could change come November (Republicans lost ground last November, I wouldn't be surprised if they lost a little this year).

I disagree. I have yet to see the Democrats trying to be more centered. If anything, it's the other way around.
Zell Miller = Democrat. Spoke at RNC convention
Rudy Guiliani = Liberal to moderate Republican. Spoke at RNC convention.
John McCain, etc. etc. From what I've seen, the Dems overall, as in the party, not the people (so no generalization) aren't reaching out. You have certain Democrats (Lieberman) reaching out, but they're being shut away from the Democratic party.
If you wanna talk a party being run by the extreme, talk the Democratic party. It's run by the likes of Howard Dean (quite literally) and Ted Kennedy and John Kerry and all the other far-left liberals. The Dems (party) aren't reaching out, overall.
Again, we're talking party here, not people. Therefore I want to make it clear that I'm not generalizing on the Democrats as people, but rather the party (which is really what's being discussed there).

I thought this topic was are you Liberal or Conservative, not Democrat or Republican?

I am (I hope) a liberal in the dictionary definition of the word- outreaching, broadminded, tolerant of most things, and wanting to do the best for all of human kind. I'm willing to accept new ideas, and will take new ideas on board that may change my views on things.

It's why I don't have a clear opinion on the war in Iraq (the issue is too confused at the moment and I can see both sides of the story), why I feel war should be a last resort, not a first course of action, and why I support wiping Third World Debt, and standing up to multinational corporations who exploit the poor.

I want a better world for my daughter, and want her to make her own decisions- which is why I'm not getting her baptised even though I take her to Church, why I feel that the environment needs protecting now, and why I support free education (as it does give you an advantage in the world- though it's not everything). I also don't want to see civil liberties eroded, as if it goes too far we'll lose the right to change them.

Right you are, my dear! Absolutely right!

The question, for anyone who might have forgotten, is Are You A Liberal or a Conservative.

Hope that helps .

Exactly.
Well, I don't live in America, and what's liberal to you, is almost right-wing here, sort of. So you can imagine how different our country's are.
Anyway, I think of myself as a socialist. I think it's important that the government takes care of people who can't take care of themselves, that there are social services etc. I'm also a member of the Socialistic Party in the Netherlands.

"Liberal" and "conservative" are poorly-defined, narrow-minded labels and create a vastly over-simplified scale for measuring a person's political views.

He's actually from the UK
But anyways, I disagree with that philosophy, and that's why I'm a conservative. There are certain things that the government should do--social security and welfare for those who need it and a little medicaid, but it shouldn't be excessive. Government needs to be small and do little, not big and do much.

Since you've all decided to ignore the poll, and this has turned into a real discussion, I'll move it back to WN. (J, Grace, and IIM don't like serious stuff here, )
