No they didn't. You are correct, but we delve off topic. This about the torture.

Is there torture from the British troops as well? I'm not well versed on that.

There have been some reports of 'isolated incidents' where British troops have assault Iraqi's.
The latest would be where British troops drag some people out of a riot and use force to stop them.

I'd post the pictures on here but there is 'No reproduction permitted'.

I'd also like to point out that the 'News of the World' is a very poor newspaper and should not have been allowed to show these images or write the story.

I see....

Most disturbing...

I think the person in the article proves an interesting point though.

Quote:
The video came to light following the unit's return home. Our source was horrified when he saw it and vowed the tape MUST be made public to force the army to clamp down on the abuse of prisonersand protect the reputations of more than 80,000 dedicated British troopsincluding 101 killed and 230 injuredwho have served in Iraq since the start of the second Gulf war.

We shouldn't show these pictures to show how "evil" soldiers are and show "innocent" Iraqis are, but to clamp down on this. So that the MAJORITY of soldiers who are honorable do not get bogged down with these other honorless bastards.

I think unfortunetly, some people have used to justiy how "wrong" this war was. Therein lies the problem.

I know I am going to go slightly off topic and people might disagree and of course some people may think I am talking total crap but I am gonna say this anyway.

This is a sign that Britain is changing, Britain has an extremely proud history and a noble history. In both military and economy we have thrived and been an honourable country we have been respected by most and admired by some however it is becoming more and more evident that we are sadly turning in another direction. I can't help but blame this on certain things.

Back on topic.

True the majority of our soldiers are honourable but these pictures no matter what reason they were shown for should not have been shown to the public under any circumstances.
The war isn't wrong but it isn't right.
In all great civilisations. America and Britian for example have both had to go through civil wars and problems, I can't help but think that Iraq should be left alone to do the same as we did, Work it out for themselves.

I'm not saying that this kind of abuse is right. But keep it in perspective.

This is war, and if you know history then you know this stuff has always gone on, but is actually getting better. As ususal, the press concentrates on the negative, because that sells.

Also, remember that the only reason there are prisoners is because there are people who fought us and we didn't KILL THEM.

No, you weren't. I suggest reading the local rules. That'd be the announcement topic? The one that stays at the top of the page?

(Well I'd never have guessed the local rules would have been kept in the stickied topic called 'Local rules')
I'll read them now.

FORT MEADE, Maryland (AP) -- An Army dog handler at Abu Ghraib was convicted Tuesday of tormenting prisoners with his snarling animal and competing with a comrade to make the Iraqis soil themselves.

Sgt. Michael J. Smith, 24, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was found guilty at a court-martial of six of 13 counts.
