-Sauna "Sah-nah" pronounced wrongly as -> "Sauw-nah"
-Pillow "Pi-low" pronounced horridly as "Pellow" <- omg i HAAAATE THAT ONE!!
-Orange (Oar-ange) pronounced awfully as "Aah-renge"
-Pop (pahp) pronounced (what the hell are you thinking ->) "Soda" <- stupid people that make that mistake

that's all i can think of right now.

Soda and Pop are different names for the same thing. After 5 years of living in Colorado, where they call it Pop, I still haven't gotten used to it, and hate it. It's soda, not pop. So it's not really a matter of pronounciation for that, but dialect.

Ignore her, she likes to be irritating like that. (Since they call it SODA water, )

I hate it when people from away, (tourists, other outsiders, ), pronounce BANGOR wrong.

It's Bang-gore, not, Bang-ger,

Orange and "Ar-in-ge" are two different things. One is the color (previous) and the other is the fruit (latter),

The pronounciation of Schedule annoys me. It is pronounced "Sh-ed-ule" not "Sk-ed-ule"

It's pop. Though we do have soda water, all the drinks are pop. Cola is pop.

I can't get Bangor wrong- lived too close to it (in Wales, not Maine, obviously )

And pop is said exactly as it's written

I hate it when bath (and other such words) are pronounced with a soft "a". It's bath, not baath!

Uh...no it's not
Although it's intriguing when Rush says it

And no, Danni, it's not pop--unless you think it's pop. Coke is soda, not pop. It all depends on dialect, a breakup in a language. For instance, the British dialect is far different from a southern dialect of English.

I say "soda," you say "pop." You say "tap," I say "faucet." (Even though we call the water from it "tap water" )

It's not a language--it's a dialect English is the language, and there are many dialects, just as is the case with Spanish. You have the Spanish dialect, from Spain, then the Mexican dialect, etc. etc.

Yes, of that i'm quite aware. I was just simply being "silly" if you may, and not serious by any means - aka kidding.

I'm English, I also live in South Yorkshire, and like all other places, we have our own way of pronouncing words. Some do have difficulty in understanding some of the broader Yorkshire.

But I love listening to dialects and hear them from all parts of the country and the world on a daily basis.

What I don't like is when people make an obvious assumption that you're not being polite because you speak to them in your own dialect. No way is wrong... just different.

I was wondering for a moment whether to try and write something as Yorkshire is pronounced, but I'm not sure if it would be understandable.

There was something I found really weird when I was in Yorkshire last year (well, East Riding Yorkshire, so maybe a bit different from what we're talking about here, but okie). My brother and I were invited to go to the "shelly park". I had to get the woman (my Dad's friend) to repeat it, but it still sounded the same to me. He had to explain that she was talking about the chalet (shal-ay) park,

I'm really screwed up with pronouciations, because not only am I english, but sometimes I speak like I'm from the north, and sometimes I speak like I'm from the south.
for example- patriotic is pronouced pay-tree-ot-ick
but
patronising is pronounsed patt-tron-eye-sing
the pat is pronouced completely different!

In drama class, we are studying the play blood brothers, and we were reading out a rhyming verse. The trouble was, we all pronouced "romance" with a short a, and "chance" as if it were "charnce" and then they didn't rhyme!!!

Blood Brothers needs a Scouse accent- so remember to drop all your aiches and not say the last letter on ing

You got it right with romance there- chance is exactly the same.

Also, speak as if you've got a cold- it helps

As for patriotic and patronising- that's exactly how I say them both

Thing is, I can talk like a northener, cos me mam's from Manchester and sometimes when I'm being passionate, I sound like I'm from there too!
I can just about do the Scouse accent, but the trouble is the other people in my class (that's clarse, by the way) are either middle clarse posh (p-owe-sh) pay-ple or propper Slough gangstaz init!!

My AP Euro teacher is the most uncultured person I know. He pronounces every French word/name wrong. Even Latin names, too. He sometimes pronounces words wrong in general, though. Some examples-

Descartes is "Des-cart-es" (I actually said this today just to see if he would attempt to "correct" me, and he did.)
Copernicus is "Copper-nick-us"
Coup d'etat is "coop-day-tat"
Chateau is "sha-tay"
Ignatius Loyola is "Ig-nat-e-ous Loy-la"
Robespierre is "Robe-es-spear"

One thats always annoyed me is people who say "warsh" instead of "wash."

Here's a good one for debate! "Bubbler" or "Water Foutnain"?

I say it's water fountain, but then I was born in Kentucky. In Wisonsin, everyone calls em bubblers.

When someone says,'' I ain't going to do it.''' I even catch myself.

When they could say, '' I am not going to do it.'' So, I try to remember not say I ain't going to do it.

Also my sister pronounce Hair as air. That annoys me to no end.
