I think Harrison Ford can still pull it off, and I think it'll be an entertaining film, seeing as Spielberg and Lucas are producing it. If it were a new actor playing the role, and new directors/producers making it, I wouldn't be optimistic, but I think it will be a good film.

I'm looking forward to this movie. I am curious, though, as to how they're going to do this, considering the fact that Harrison Ford is nearly 20 years older than when the last movie was made (I have all three of the originals on DVD).
I'm hoping that the plot revolves around a main rumored plot for the movie--Atlantis (the "lost continent"). That would be cool.
What do you guys think of the movie, and my thoughts there (revolving around plot and how the movie will be done, considering the age factor).

As far as Ford's age goes, I think we'll have to suspend our disbelief and just enjoy.

I would like to see Atlantis in the movie. I read a comic book years ago, where Indy ventured to Atlantis, and I enjoyed it. In my experience, whan an actor returns to a role years later, he often does a good job (like Sean Connery did in 1983 when he returned to the role of James Bond in Never Say Never Again).

Trust me, folks, it'll be a good film.

Oh, I agree with you there. Just look. Ford's one of my favorite actors (along with Connery), and with George Lucas (my favorite Hollywood guy ) and Steven Spielberg (a fantastic fillmaker)...put 'em together, and what've you got! Bibbidy-bobbidy a good movie!
But yeah. I liked Connery's role in Never Say Never Again as well.
What other plots would you like to see/do you see has being possible?

I like Ford too. His best role of the last decade, in my opinion, was his role as the US President in Air Force One.

Well, there was a comic years ago called "Indiana Jones and the Spear of Destiny", which would make a good film. I wouldn't mind seeing an Indy adventure set in Africa, Germany or Egypt as well. There were a flew good plots in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles which they could look to for inspiration.

Oh, and I have one thing in common with Indy - I hate snakes too.

lol. According to http://www.theraider.net, an Indiana Jones fan site, in terms of the plot, the only thing known is that it will take place in the 1950s and the enemies will NOT be the Nazis.
There are actually more cast/crew announcements, as found at http://www.theraider.net/films/indy4/people_involved.php.
http://www.theraider.net/films/indy4/faq.php also has good info, in FAQ form, on the movie.

Thanks for the links. It'll be a refreshing change not to have Nazis as villains.

I've spoken to people at work who aren't excited about this movie. If the film were being directed by some young director, who knew nothing of the Indiana Jones concept, then I'd be worried. If it were some unknown actor stepping into the role, I'd be worried, but I'm not.

I've seen so many movies over the years where an actor resumes a particular role after a decade or more. It's like riding a bike, everything comes together. Lucas and Spielberg know what they're doing as far as Indiana Jones goes, and Ford can still play the role, so once all the pieces are in place, it's going to be just like old times, I think.

This is cool. Indiana Jones is awesome.

I seem to recall Lucas confirming he wasn't going to make Indiana Jones IV. Just like he confirmed no Star Wars Episode 7-9. Hhhmmm

7-9 is on the horizon...

I don't believe he did. From what I've heard and read, he was always planning on it, so don't get excited.
He's already said, though, that the future is left to the books for SW, and I believe him there. He's not going to make a 7-9. But then again, this topic isn't about SW, now is it?

No, he plainly said that he was done after Indiana Jones III. Here we are at part four.

On topic...

I'm not sure the story, but this needs to be the last one. Harrison is getting too old to fight.

It's definitely the last one, as Lucas, Spielberg, and Harrison have all attested to.

What about Marcus and Shorty? Are they in it? They need a new actor for MArcus though.

I don't believe Marcus is going to be in it, simply because, as you said, the actor's dead, and I don't think they'd replace him with someone else.

I don't think he's getting too old to fight. In a movie, providing an audience can suspend it's disbelief, it's possible for a man in his 60s to look convincing when he's fighting. It looks a little silly if you're watching, say, boxing or wrestling and you have some old man fighting, but in a movie it can be convincing, thanks to special effects, editing, etc.

I'd rather see a 65 year old Harrison Ford (the age he will be in 2007) fighting, than a 21 year old who's never played the role before.

I'm not so sure that Harrison Ford will look the part, but I like the other three, so I guess I'd go and see this one.

I think he will, because he's supposed to be older in the movie as well.
But yeah, I wish there was more out about this movie!

Whilst you're all waiting for the film, you could perhaps keep yourself occupied by watching some episodes of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.

Forgive me for sounding ignorant but what is that, a TV show?

Yes, it was a TV show that ran from 1992 to 1996. It was quite good at times.

Yeah...I believe it was from 1992 to 1996. I haven't seen it, but I know about it.
Maybe, Superman, maybe.

Not yet, but I believe a release may be forthcoming. There are ways and means of finding episodes, though.
