PostSun Feb 05, 2006 2:16 pm    Superbowl XL

I know that we already have a favorite football team topic, but I really think there should be a Superbowl topic, as it is a big event and a HUGE amount of people don't even like either of the teams, making "favorite football team" discussions obsolete. Feel free to disagree, and if you do, please lock. I happen to think that because it's such a big game there should be another topic for it. If there shouldn't be, then please lock this one.

So, what about the Superbowl? What are your predictions? Who do you want to win? Everything Superbowl!

I honestly don't care who wins as long as they don't destroy my state.

><

My family lives just outside of Detroit and I fear for their safety. Crazy drunk people.

Ugh. Yeah...
lol on the no choice though. I'm fine either way, although I am rooting for the Seahawks (because they have better uniforms ).

My brother and dad are for the Seahawks. So I guess I'll side with them on this one.

Personally I'd actually prefer watching the O'Reilly Factor 6-hour marathon tonight, but because of my parents I wouldn't be able to, so instead I have to record it.

Yeah, greaaat. The team with the worse uniform and the dopey helmets--with their logo on only one side--won. Whoo-hoo
Meh, I don't really care too much about the outcome, even though I did want the Seahawks...
I must say, I was grossly dissapointed in the commercials this year. I only liked maybe five.

I have to admit, I didn't watch enough t.v. to even see a single Superbowl commercial. Bad Kat *slaps her own hand in mock shame*!

Anyway, congrats to the Steelers!

I was sort of rootin' for the Seahawks but I didn't even get to glimpse the game, so.........

RM, what do helmets and logos have to do with winning?

lol, it's what I was rooting for. I was rooting for the Seahawks because of their uniform and helmet, 'cause I don't care for either team

^Actually, the some of the commercials were pretty good. Some of them were okay, and one, I think it was an Ameriquest commercial, was absolutely not family friendly.

I disagree on the former--they are getting worse every year. Few years ago they were still really good. Now, no. Some, okay. A couple were good. Otherwise, they were just like regular commercials.
But yeah, I think it was Ameriquest...one of those companies. That sure as heck wasn't. It was far worse than all the other GoDaddy.com ones (which I saw in a Hannity and Colmes segment)--which they wouldn't let through.

Lucky for me that I don't watch tv then....I probably would've felt quite scandalized and offended.............and knowing me, I would've posted a thread about the degradation of today's society and how the Superbowl can be attributed to it.

They weren't at the game, that's for sure.
Yeah, there were hardly any there--but that's mostly because of their situation (location relative to Pittsburg).

That had to be one of the worst games I've ever seen. Definitely in the top three.

(Sorry, RM, forgot to remove the "The")

Little news on this, just to say (even though this isn't World News...)

Quote:
Nielsen: Super Bowl Ratings Up Five Percent
NEW YORK An estimated 90.7 million people watched the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Seattle Seahawks Sunday, the largest Super Bowl audience since 1996 when the Steelers last played in the title game.

That was 5 percent more than the 86.1 million people who watched the New England Patriots beat the Philadelphia Eagles last year, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research.

When the Dallas Cowboys beat the Steelers in 1996, there were 94.1 million people watching.

The Steelers beat the Seahawks 21-10, but the game wasn't really decided until the final five minutes or so, which helped keep the audience glued to the set, said Larry Hyams, ABC research executive.

"The Super Bowl obviously is a national event and people are going to tune in regardless of whether the teams have national appeal," Hyams said. "It's up to the game to hold the audience."

An episode of "Grey's Anatomy" that aired directly after the game on ABC was seen by 38.1 million people, the biggest audience for a post-Super Bowl show in five years, Nielsen said.
