PostThu Jan 26, 2006 9:07 pm    Do women's feet have an artistic beauty about them?

This may seem like a strange topic, but right now I am feeling depressed, and posting such a topic will be liberating for me.

Long-time members here will know that I have an appreciation for women's feet. I think they are underrated and have an artistic beauty about them. I'm not obsessional about them (or anything else in life, I hope), but I can appreciate their beauty.

Awhile back, I watched some American chat show, and there was a woman on there who, for some reason, took off her shoes and talked about her feet. They were very well pedicured feet, very clean and healthy looking, and a nice sight. Almost as though the woman wanted her feet to be appreciated by men.

Also, when I browse celebrity magazines, I often come across photos of women like Sharon Stone, who are barefoot. And I have to admit that a lot of the photos of women's feet that I see are very nice. Okay, some aren't that nice (due to women wearing ill-fitting shoes), but some are very good.

People may say that "feet are just feet" and are unimportant. However, if that is the case, then why do women paint their toes beautiful colours like red, pink and white? Why do women have pedicures? You know, if you paint your house, it's usually to make it look better and make people appreciate it. I'd have thought women painting their toenails and having pedicures was done so the feet would look nicer, to themselves and to other people.

What are your views on this? As I've said, I think women's feet have an artistic beauty about them. Look at a celebrity magazine and you'll usually see a photo of an actress or presenter sitting barefoot at home or in a studio. Have a look at their feet, 9 times out of 10 they look good.

Of course, the most important thing a woman has is personality. And other things are nice, like the female neck, back, face, etc. I just think that women's feet are underrated, have an artistic beauty about them, and deserve a compliment or two. If I've been on a date, or drinking beer with work colleagues, I've paid compliments to a woman if she's been wearing open-toed shoes and her feet are beautiful. The compliments have always been well-received. At the end of the day, the whole woman is important, but I think a woman's bare feet deserve a compliment or two now and again.

Any thoughts on this, people?

No.

Feet are... weird.
..to each their own though, i'm attracted to women who have a nice back. (Torso back, not butt back.)

Care to elaborate on that, my friend.

My feet are ok, though there is a distinct lack of footwear for women with long, narrow feet. I WANT SIZE 9B SHOES! Is it too much to ask for shoes that fit?

I spend a lot of time barefoot, contrary to the Flylady way.

I like how feet look in old paintings of christ and angels... except without the stigmata.

Yes. Almost anything has artistic value if you look at it right. And feet are a part of the body, and carry a lot of expression. If you're barefoot you look a lot more relaxed. If you're wearing flipflops or sandals, you look more relaxed, if you're wearing heels or somthing you look more put together and formal.

What you do to your feet tends to pull the rest of what you look like together. If they look good or right then they aren't really noticed because they're part of the whole. But if they look bad or wrong, then then they stand out in a bad way, and that's not good.

Symmetry is art, and so since feet have symmetry, they'd be artistic. Though I do find that bit of art unappealing,

I have really small feet. I hate them. There are alot of other girls out there that have prettier feet than me. I wear size 6 1/2 in shoes.

Are you referring to your own, or other people's?

All encompassing? I'm more of a hands person myself,

And, of course, you would agree that hands and feet look similar.

Not really, no. Feet have always grossed me out. Don't know why, that's just how it is.

It could be you're looking at the wrong ones.

Some ladies don't do their feet any favours by wearing ill-fitting shoes, which really distort the feet.

Johny's nanna rang him up today asking for my shoe size *is suspicious*.

I've just remembered- a size 11 US fits me well- seems UK sizes are a bit bigger than US ones (opposite to clothes- very confuzzling!)

I don't like monkey feet. They look too much like hands glued to legs. Seeing Rafiki's in the lion king weirded me out.

Who mentioned monkey feet?

We're talking about women's feet here.

Not really, no. Feet should have socks on them, so that you don't really ahve to look at them. Besides, socks are cute.

Cavewomen didn't wear socks.

And I can't believe it when I hear a minority of women say they wear socks in bed. WHY?

Nothing special about feet i must say. But of course they have too look nice. I'm more about the stuff that is above it.... All of it....

Oh, you're right. I mean, women have two tremendous assets, don't they? Two assets that all men notice, those being, erm, intelligence and charm.
